Pony Brag Arena / Re: Another Antique Mall Haul!
« on: June 30, 2014, 05:40:59 PM »
First I have to say "nice haul!!!"  the nursery is in wonderful condition <3

Second, did you go to an antique mall in Edmonton, it sounds like one I've been too. It's got 2 floors, most of the ponies being on the second level.  I forget the name of the st it's on, but I believe it's on the south side.
If this is the one i'm thinking of, your right most of the ponies are overpriced, but like you said, no shipping. (in my case, I had to make sure I had enough room in my suitcase...lol) I did end up getting a couple ponies there in January this year. including an overpriced bridal beauty ( granted she's been alluding me all these years) I'm babbling, but you see what i'm attempting...

This is perfect timing for me!!

20 things should be easy, my boyfriend and I just moved, and I still have to go through things. I know I have bags of doubles I need to go through and clean, plus other random bits and pieces. get ready to find a sales thread from me sometime soon!!!

For me it's 2 ponies:

first is my grail, Greek yellow Medly. I had the chance to buy her a few years ago, but thought that in the long run, Greek white moondancer would be a better buy at the time.

second would be Mexican rainbow haired Firefly. I already own rainbow haired medly, but she's lonely without her rainbow twin. Every time I bid I lose :(

beautiful customs, as always!!!

I'm in love with your tropical g1 gal, she's a stunner.  Really wish that I could buy her now, but as we're in the process of packing, and soon to be moving, I would hate for her to get mailed to my current place when we're not here. :(

Off Topic / Re: Anyone here watch Farscape?
« on: March 16, 2014, 09:57:41 AM »
My boyfriend and I have just started watching it on netflixs. We tend to gravitate towards Sci Fi shows. We're enjoying this show so far, we are only on season one at the moment.

It's funny the only reason why we're watching Farscape I believe is that we got hooked on Stargate, and of course the 2 main characters, go to stargate in the later seasons.

I found starlight baby mischief at a thrift store, and airbrushed eyed Italian butterscotch, blossom bluebell from a flea market. I was so surprised when I got those Italians as I didn't even realize until I got home as to who they were. I missed out on Cotton Candy who was also there, but walked away trying to decide if I should buy ponies I already have...lol

I am in Canada

Well there is still a chance that you could see orca's on the trip.

:D here's the bus schedule for Nanaimo

http://www.rdn.bc.ca/cms.asp?wpID=686

Somehow I always assume university on the island, I think UVIC since it's larger the VIU (used to be called Malaspina University-collage) it's a shame you don't have a Car, Nanaimo is one of those cities where it's easier to drive around. (I grew up half an hour north of Nanaimo) I like to call Nanaimo the city of Malls... lol the largest mall on the island is located on the north end of Nanaimo (Woodgrove mall)

if I remember correctly you should be able to see the Ocean from the school. The campus has a lot of stairs, so get ready to climb ;) they have a great culinary program there, so the cafeteria has great food :)

As for natural things to do not far from VIU Across from the Nanaimo parkway (highway) Is Westward lake and Westward lake park. I"ve never gone there, but have always wanted to. If you had a Car I'd direct you half an hour north to Parksville/ Qualicum beach. The beach Fest is going on in Parksville now, not to mention lots of lakes, long sandy beaches, provincial parks, (2 with waterfalls) Coombs (place selling international goods with Goats on the roof ;) )

As you see I don't know Nanaimo as well, usually as a kid/ teenager we went there for shopping/ movies... lol

I will be upisland from the 24-2th, but that's half an hour north.

Good luck with everything :)

these are the only ferries between the island and the mainland. Your in luck, this ferry ride floats between the gulf islands, and is truly beautiful (the Van- Nanaimo runs are just straight water views)  Sometimes you can see Orca's, but I've never been fortunate enough to see them :S. If you have the cash or visa, use the pacific buffet for your meal, it's so tasty and totally worth Is (hopefully you don't get stuck on the Queen of New Westminister (Older ferry, and doesn't have the buffet))

The weather up here is pretty mild. Actually we on the coast have the mildest climate in Canada (Lucky if we get one snowfall a year, though every 10 or so years we get a blizzard. The worst was the Bizzard of 96') Overall you'll be fine with a lighter jacket in spring and summer months. Our climate is moist, so if your used to dry heat or cold this will feel much colder to you. Victoria is surrounded by mountains with the Olympics in Washington state (you can see the States from the island) and the Malahat on the island, so here in Victoria we get less rain then both Vancouver and Washington state (across the water, I forget the name is the wettest place in the states) My boyfriends friends have described Victoria as having a micro climate. ;)

If you have any questions feel free to ask. :) I can even show you around when I get back from holidays :D

Not in van, but In Vic. Might see you wandering around downtown Vic and not know it ;)

Sadly I don't go to Van often enough to guide you. My top to see list would be Granville Island, the Aquarium and Stanley park. My friend has taken me to other places, but I can't remember all the places. If I remember I'll let you know, but here are some helpful sites for you if you haven't seen them already.

http://www.bcferries.com/schedules/mainland/tssw-current.php

http://www.transitbc.com/regions/vic/

My guess is that from the Ferry you'll be taking the 70 or the  75 Which ever bus is sitting for you. the public transit is 1 hour to downtown. Ask for a transfer and from the Bay centre (mall) you can catch the 14 or 11 right to the university.

Again things you might already know, but hopefully it helps out in some way:)
