Let's see... I'm looking into prospective dolls to do a custom Danny that matches Megan and Molly.
My custom  Simon Belmon outfit and gear for Megan have stalled because I can't find the LEGO skeleton battle pack that has the mace ball I need to copy to finish the Vampire Killer
If scratchbuilt sets count, I've slacked off on the arcade.. And I'm currently looking at making the Sunstone Pyramid

That's really interesting! I've also been making concept ideas for other characters that were never made - The Moochick, Habbit and Moochick's cottage is a big project I've been making rudimentary plans for in particular.

Hi guys!

Looking for the following:

Cloud Puff flutter pose (looking for 2 right now)
G1 unicorn poses (not Majesty/Windy pose, got those coming out my ears!)

Many thanks!

Pony Corral / Re: Restoring Symbols on G1's - Cricutter

Oh I hadn't thought about selling stencils, but that's such a cool idea!

I think I'll take the plunge and buy a cutter next month and let everyone know how I get on.

I haven't had the best of luck with doing the symbols for my "Mystic" custom, used the baking paper transfer trick a number of times, but just can't get it right... and I don't think of poor Posey bait can take much more re-stripping down to start all over again.

I've done her head and her new mane is looking top notch (was rather pleased with my first attempt at eyes as well) and she's been missing her body for months

Pony Corral / Restoring Symbols on G1's - Cricutter
« on: February 10, 2022, 05:50:36 AM »
Hi guys, so I have a few G1's whose symbols are almost completely gone, so it's not a simple painting over sort of job.

Have been looking at possibly investing in a Cricutter to create stencils for airbrushing them on.  Anyone had experience doing this?

Definitely the unpleasant things bronies have done :(

Same honestly

I think I shall stay blissfully ignorant and NOT google this...

I have a wishlist too for my grails.... I know it's a crazy amount but I was happy to have bought the entire G1 Merry Go Round set for £225 the other week, as I never was given any of them as a kid... and I had a limit of £230, it was a close call on that auction.

I based that particular auction bid on 4 main things:

A- I really wanted them
B- I can't recall when I saw a Diamond Dreams for sale
C- my bosses surprised me by saying they were going to pay me back my hotel costs (£160) for an overnight stay in London when we went to dinner with them, so that was extra cash that wasn't on my calculated monthly budget
D- I always look at how much the individual ponies are going for at the moment, and then calculate how much of a good deal getting the whole set is i.e Sparkler from that set on her own is pretty expensive at the moment

When looking at bait, I try not to spend more than a fiver per pony... although I'm rather stuck on getting flutters on Cloud Puff pose right now, so might have to go deeper than that.

I have found that for ponies that are pretty rare on the market (think Dazzleglow, Glow n Show unicorn.... or the Hair-Do ponies) that I need to complete certain sets, I will go up to about £40, but basically I set myself a budget each month on ponies and customising supplies together, and just see how far I can make my money go.

Hi, acetone is your friend here for sure.

Had a real job getting Masquerade's head off - went to Boots (local pharmacy chain for those non-UK readers!) and bought their own brand acetone for gel nail removal.

Soaked an ear bud in the acetone, applied some pressure to the head to make a little gap in the neckline, and just kept gently swabbing the area.

After I worked my way round the neck, I then let her dry off for the afternoon, before sitting her in front of my little desk heater (I get super cold hands whilst working, and my fingers start seizing up leaving me unable to type if I didn't have the heater!) for a couple of minutes to make her a bit more pliable.

I then used an old blunted craft scalpel to work through the gap I made and then used more acetone swabbing once I got through to the neck plug.  I then was able to use my manicure cuticle stick as a lever to pop the head off!

No snags or jags to the head/neck, and cannot wait for my ultrafine glitter to arrive, so I can start turning her into a glittery magical twinkle eyed princess!

Cannot remember the first pony as I was too little (80's baby here)

Last one - Goldilocks last week, she's BEAUTIFUL, and also my first ever sweetheart sister!

I'm very interested in this thread for my newly acquired Megan and Molly.

I did think about just rehairing them whilst they were in transit, but I've found I can't get their heads off.

So people use a flat iron whilst the conditioner is still in the hair?

I have Google sheets for both my catalogue and my wishlist.

For my catalogue, I have tabs for Originals and main sets, boys, babies, sea ponies, rainbow ponies, flutters and wingers, playsets and non-pony, and lastly families.

That way, I can access the sheets on both my laptop and my phone, so if I've come across a pony at a charity shop or car boot, I can check my lists whilst on the go.

I have journals/ scrapbooks for my customs, and once I've done a fair number of them, I might even treat myself to getting an album done of my work off photobox!

Literally had this, this week!

Bagged a bundle of bait from ebay, but honeysuckle was so beautiful, its almost a shame to prep her for customising.

I am sure, if she was sentient like from Toy Story, she would be excited at turning into a new flutter pony however!
