Pony Corral / Re: Strangest place you've FOUND a pony in the wild?
« on: June 08, 2016, 09:48:40 AM »
Who are these people throwing all these ponies in the trash? D:

Weirdest place I ever found a pony, maybe not technically weird but still, around the early 2000s I found the year 10 Birthday Pony at a doctor's office in the waiting room among the other toys for the kids. The weird part is that apart from puncture marks on her ears where a little girl presumably gave her earings, she's in really good condition! She still has all her streamers, her hair is uncut and she has no fading or symbol rub!

And this from a doctor's waiting room! You'd think she'd have been damaged long ago!

The doctor was nice enough to let me buy her :D so she's on my shelf now.

Ah thank you very much! :D I had no idea!
Trickles doesn't seem to have any age spots, but her symbols are reeeeaaally badly rubbed. the "droplet" part of her symbols kinda look dirty against the yellow because all their glitter is gone and it's like a greyish blue.
She DOES have some of those mysterious pink highlighter marks on her other side on her shoulder but not too terrible :)

Tickle is pretty good except you can see the faded pen marks on her back leg. her symbols aren't perfect but you can still see them fine.

And Morning Glory 's hair is just a little dry to the touch.

Thank you so much for the info! I didn't expect them to be (roughly) above $5 so that's a surprise :D I'll post the others in a new thread tomorrow. I don't want to flood this entire page ^^;

I recently got a Looooot of ponies in due to both a friend who was getting rid of some (which I nabbed ALL OF) as well as some thrift finds and online shopping 8D;; I'm not gonna do a monster post, but I thought I'd do a couple of them and maybe you guys can give me a price check? I'm not expecting them to be worth anything, I just like being on top of that kind of thing because I've been surprised by owning really rare ponies before ^^;

To start off; I recently got Tickles

I'll ask for the other soon but I figured I'll start with that :)
Can anyone help me out? Like I said, I don't expect them to be expensive at all XD so if you wanna say $2 just lemme know. I don't mind at all ;) I collect some pretty baity ponies so I'm not that hung up on value. I just want to be informed.

MLP Nirvana / Re: PC: Takara pony sales advice needed
« on: January 13, 2016, 01:43:12 PM »
Hey! C-Puff here!
Since We're dealing with Takara ponies I'm just here to vouch for Locopuff that she does indeed own both of these girls :D (and, incidentally, they're in very good condition and she still has some of their accessories such as their clothing.

Since I know there are some bad sellers out there, I thought I'd just pipe in. Especially since Locopuff isn't a pony collector so it might seem strange that she'd just appear with a sale like this out of nowhere XD But she's legit. Promise.

Incidentally, I took some photos of these two girls when I was visiting her last which I'll just add here.

Thanks so much guys! they're looking good on my shelf :D

and ClawleenMeowlen, when I saw the photos on the fore sale page I thought it was a pity her tail was cut so badly but having her in person it's really grown on me XD It gives her some great attitude I think!

Ah really? I wondered if maybe the release year could mean something for the quality. But beyond that, yes. Here in South Africa, apart from Nirvana ponies obviously, we tended to get the UK ponies as most of our imports are from there. Especially during the 80s. This is why it's reletively easy to get UK ponies here. (I have several I simply got froms friends who had them as childhood ponies like Tutti Frutti, Newborn Stargazer and I myself had baby Berrytown as a kid)

So if the European Pocket ponies are known to have questionable quality with their hair its totally possible that that is a batch this girl came from.

That's a good idea trying to rehair her without removing her head :) I might try that and see if its possible.

it's a pity there aren't any sort of "pony restoration" workshops I could attend XD like "this is how you rehair." etc etc.

Thanks so much for all the help, guys! It really helps a lot. I was very worried that this might be a problem I'd have to worry about for my other ponies ;__; I'm glad to hear that's not the case it seems.

I'm once again really worried of trying to remove a pony head on my own (I severely damaged my childhood Star Hopper trying to remove her dislodged washer). I will have to either find a way to reroot her myself somehow, or have sent to someone who could do it for me which might be the better option.

I'm not sure how I would do that since I don't live in America and our postal system is one of the worst in the world. I may try and risk sending her to someone since, as I said, she is luckily not a childhood pony. Otherwise I'll have to try and sort something out when I'm in the States again.

Anyway, thanks again guys! At least I'm not as worried about my other ponies though ^^; even if none of us know what would make the hair do this XD

Pony Corral / Bunny Hop hair problems
« on: November 19, 2015, 02:48:18 AM »
Hey guys, me again.
I'm still in the process of cleaning all my ponies (almost done) But I found something distressing today.

I was busy cleaning my Bunny Hop (using pantene conditioner and dishwashing soap for her body like I do with all my ponies) when I noticed the pink parts of her hair were breaking off in my hands even though I was not being rough with her!

I got her second hand when I was about 13 or 14 (when I started collecting ponies as a hobby and not just as toys to play with) and she came to me in rough shape to start with. Her hat is broken off and she no longer has her rabbit either. On top of this the pink of her hair had been cut but was still really frizzy on the ends. She's been sitting on a shelf for a few years now what with life and whatever and I'm just cleaning her now with the rest of my ponies.

I haven't had this happen with any of my other ponies at all! Not even my Wave Runner who also has terrible frizz in her hair.

The purple of her hair is perfectly fine and has no frizz or roughness to it. it's literally only the pink which is just break off by the hand-full just from being handled.
I'm pretty certain all I can do is leave her alone and try to rehair her at some point in the future (if I can get her head off without damaging her which I'm still afraid of doing)

What I want to know is, is this a common problem with the pocket ponies or with that particular brand of pink hair? Does it have something to do with the later run ponies? Did Hasbro switch quality at some point? (Like they have with the G4s for instance)? Have you guys heard of this happening before? And lastly, what could have caused this in the first place? I have not done anything drastic to her hair at all since I've had her. No heat treatment or anything like that, so I can only guess it must have been her previous owner (most likely a little girl since collecting isn't really a thing here.)

Does anyone have any insight? This is really really strange to me and I have no idea why it would happen.
Thanks as always!

Thanks, LadyGuinevere. :D that's a good way to put it. For sure I would just keep her. I'm too sentimental to resell or trade ^^; (It's a problem)

And thanks, Hathorcat! I'm still trying to properly understand where to post what on the forum. I'm trying my best to keep relevant, though :D

MLP Nirvana / PC on Italian Windy
« on: November 14, 2015, 07:21:07 AM »
Hey guys.
A local seller here is currently selling a Windy that's from Italy. She looks dirty (I've bought from this seller before and all his ponies are dirty for some reason XD ) and her tail might be a little frizzy from the looks of it, but she seems otherwise ok as far as I can tell. (Although she seems a little faded). Also, the photo of her hooves does show she is indeed from Italy.

The seller is asking R75 for her plus R46 for shipping. This transfers to $5 for the pony and $3 shipping.

I know so very little about Italian ponies so I have no idea if this would be worth it? I don't own Windy at all, but I'm suppose to hold off on buying ponies for the meantime. However this one keeps popping up in my search on our local site.

Anyone have any advice, please?

Pony Brag Arena / New Orphans arrived
« on: November 14, 2015, 07:01:59 AM »
I have a major soft-spot for "not perfect" ponies! So I often end up buying ponies with mane and tail cuts and minor imperfections.

a few weeks ago I saw someone selling a Baby Bowtie for under $5 and listing her as "custom bait" because her one ear had a cut. I was really annoyed by this because other than that she looked perfect to me! And because she wasn't sold in the US this made me xtra angry that someone would just throw her out as "custom bait". So I ended up buying her in the end XD When she arrived I found her head also turns, but it seems this is from the glue deteriorating, and not from a throat cut.

I also picked up a Kiss & Tell who looked in very rough condition. But again, a non-US pony, so the $5 seemed like a good price regardless of what she looked like. She has tiny puncture wounds all over her but otherwise cleaned up beautifully! I'm so happy with her!

Lastly, Princess Crystal that I got for under $2. Obvious tail and mane cut but otherwise is perfectly fine! She has a large "S" written in permanent marker on her stomach I was not told about when I bought her but it should come off easily. Otherwise, she's really pretty! And I love Space-themed ponies a lot!

These were all from separate sellers, but all in all this batch (not including shipping) came to $12.

But that's gonna have to be it for pony buying for now. I have these adult expenses for the first time I need to pay attention to and my mom is dismayed that I'm spending money on toys (and video games) when I've just opened a medical aid plan and a life policy I need to start paying for ^^;

I'd rather just buy more plastic horses tbh.

Ah, thank you so much for taking the time to help me out as always! :lovey:
Sorry for the huge post. I was just curious of my collection as a whole since I've never really bothered with price-checking any of it before. It just never occurred to me. But I thought not knowing my own collection is probably not a good idea at all.

I won't be so silly with the PC post next time though

Thank you once again!
