Pony Corral / Re: New 35th Anniversary Collector Ponies Spotted! Pics!
« on: January 23, 2018, 06:45:26 AM »
Since TBD does not sell their products in my country I reaallllyyy hope the Rainbow ponies make it to the US also as I do not know anyone in Europe or NZ who I can ask for help.

I just wish the gift set included Sunlight instead of Windy and Parasol both who I already own. I wouldn't mind having a more purple Windy but that Parasol isn't that much different to the original.

I guess I have no choice but to buy the ones I don't have yet individually, whether it's the retro re-release or the original.

They really need to re-release Mimic.
I really want her but not at those prices and I feel a re-release of her would sell really well.

Same goes for other so-called 'rare' or just popular/sought after ponies as well.

*sigh*
The new more horse-like designs/art style is leagues better than the current one but I honestly really dislike the fact that they are reusing the main six again as it makes me fear for what the toyline will be like...
Talking multicolored fantasy horses is a simple but very versatile concept as seen with G1-G3 and various other similar toylines throughout the years but they decide to limit themselves with the same characters and same designs over and over again...

MLP isn't comparable w/ Transformers bc while current Transformers does give more focus on the more popular characters in its media and give them more toys, they still also release toys and fiction of a lot of lesser known older characters and also introduce a lot of new ones in both toys and media alongside the popular ones.

Unlike the MLP that ONLY has the current show's core cast in both its media and toys, it's like the previous generations or older characters don't exist or only sometimes exist as minor lore fodder for the current gen., with no attempts to expand the cast or add variety in the franchise and toyline.

I don't understand why Hasbro won't do with MLP what it does with Transformers...

The possibility of the Rainbows being EU only really sucks. Getting stuff from the US is already hard enough but from Europe it is probably going to be impossible without overspending and my country does not get TBD's retro products so I hope the US also gets the Rainbow Ponies.

Awesome!
The only collector pose ponies I currently own are Peachy and Lemondrop both in baity condition, and a 25th anniv. repro Snuzzle.

I hope these are easy to find and get online in their actual retail price though unlike TBD's repro Blueberry Muffin and Raspberry Tart single release dolls which I only ever find online in extremely inflated prices and from 3rd party sellers.
I don't live in the US so no Target, and toys stores here do not seem to carry TBD products we never got their Strawberry Shortcake toys so it looks like my best bet to get them is online.

I definitely hope they make more, especially ones in other poses.

Question though: It looks like their plastic is harder and not as soft as G1s but are they as hard as the 24th Anniversary ones? thanks

I actually think the style of the supposed concept art looks nice especially since they look more horse-like again.

But the thought of them focusing on the Mane 6 again in G5 or making FiM 2.0 is giving me absolute dread.

I'm still hoping that concept art isn't actually official.. (it most likely is though  :()

Cause if it is then that means even in G5 we still can't get away from the Mane 6 uuuugggghhhhhhh  :pout:

No more Mane 6 or extreme over-focus on 'core' casts in G5 PLEASE I am BEGGING...

Pony Corral / Re: Luxury Designer G1 stuff! Moschino
« on: September 28, 2017, 10:01:17 AM »
I will never be able to afford any fashion brand nor will I ever pay that much even if I did,
BUT I always like looking at runway collections and designer stuff for inspiration, just looking at them is fun to me.

I don't think their stuff are meant to mock people, or at least not regular people who aren't rich. Moschino even from the start just by looking at their vintage stuff, has always been about taking 'high fashion' and making it 'fun'
Like, old Moschino frequently used Mickey and Minnie Mouse, the Smiley face, and 'quirky' details like spoon+fork decorations. Jeremy Scott the current designer uses cartoons a lot, like that collection with Mcdonalds also had Spongebob in it, https://www.vogue.com/fashion-shows/fall-2014-ready-to-wear/moschino#collection and Scott's own brand had collections that used Bart Simpson and Shrek!
https://www.vogue.com/fashion-shows/fall-2012-menswear/jeremy-scott#collection
https://www.vogue.com/fashion-shows/spring-2015-ready-to-wear/jeremy-scott#collection

I just wish they used the ponies more in this collection, rather than just printing them on shirts and bags. Like, they could've at least had studded biker jackets with ponies or pony patches on them. That would've been cool.

Off Topic / Re: What manga are you reading?
« on: September 25, 2017, 01:06:08 PM »
The last one I've read were the latest chapters of Golden Kamuy. Really good so far!
I guess I also try to keep up with the latest Berserk chapters.

There's actually so much more other titles I plan to read or continue but I either keep forgetting or I am too lazy to start or resume, or I just don't have the time!  :freak:

Finished what I had concerning Resident Evil Mangas...
Now what to read? Anybody with an advise on what horror / zombie stuff I should try next?
^It's not zombie related or similar to RE but Fuan no Tane is a really good horror manga.

And I've only reached the 1st few chapters(where nothing has happened yet) so I don't have an opinion on it yet, but I've heard good reviews on I Am A Hero, which apparently, will have zombies in it.

There's also School Live! which is a zombie survival manga I actually have read til the later chapters, but while it had a few interesting bits, I honestly found it pretty boring overall and I don't care for the art style so I don't plan to continue catching up with the series. That's just my personal opinion though. If you like zombie survival stories you can still check it out you might still enjoy it (unlike me).

Oh yeah I forgot, there's also Devilman. No zombies but it does have the apocalyptic themes and is a horror classic.

Parasyte is another horror classic I recommend.

Pony Corral / Re: Luxury Designer G1 stuff! Moschino

This technically isn't the first time ponies have been used by a fashion brand https://www.vogue.com/fashion-shows/spring-2017-ready-to-wear/manish-arora#collection
Though this is the first one I've seen with G1 ponies.
Moschino used G1 Transformers in a previous collection too https://www.vogue.com/fashion-shows/fall-2017-menswear/moschino#collection
I guess Hasbro is trying to get some of that high fashion money?

Pony Corral / Re: G1 through g3 fandom becoming extinct?
« on: June 25, 2017, 11:21:06 PM »
I don't think so.
There are many people, including me, who through G4/whatever the most recent incarnation of MLP is, have discovered and also became fans of previous gens.
Me and many others became collectors of G1-G3 because of that.

I guess the lack of activity is because you can only collect so many products that are long out of production.

Maybe if Hasbro finally acknowledges previous Gens and the pre-g4 collectors, and/or finally makes good-or at least decent quality products again then maybe the community might become more active.

re: 'fandom' vs collector community
There are many toy collectors that just do not care for fandom.
Other brands like Transformers, Gundam, Marvel, Star Wars, etc. have toy/collector only discussions/communities that manage to be active without having to do with anything 'fandom' related.
That is because their brands either continue to acknowledge both old and new versions and both old+new fans, and/or continue to release products that collectors/both old and new fans will like.
I remember the pre-reboot Monster High and Bratz collector communities were pretty active too without being a 'fandom', that was because their brands were releasing products that both kids and collectors liked.

Pony Corral / Re: Unpopular Pony Opinions
« on: June 25, 2017, 10:57:34 PM »
I don't know how unpopular this is since it looks like there's a few other people who also share this opinion, but it might seem controversial outside of MLP collector spaces.
I just feel like letting it out again.

I genuinely want for G4 to finally, and completely, -END-

I can't deny that it was G4 that got me into ponies in the first place, but G4's appeal to me lasted for only a short time as the brand and its marketing has become so warped and far removed from what made me fall in love with ponies in the first place.

Well I love all g1 ponies except TAKARA ponies from Japan....they look like soulless teddy bears and Definitely do not make me think of my Little Ponies

G3.5 terrible body molds...bleh

Oh yeah love big Macintosh from fim reminds of big brothers!!

I find Takara ponies ugly too.
Which is why I don't really get why they're so sought after either...

Off Topic / Re: What else do you collect?
« on: June 20, 2017, 09:13:49 PM »
Bratz dolls - currently my 'main' collection at the moment

Monster High dolls- I have a lot but I have long since completely stopped collecting/buying.

Novi Stars dolls

a few Barbies from the 90s-2000s

just one or a few of various other brand dolls (Strawberry Shortcake, Project Mc2, Cutie Pops, Winx, Juku Couture, La Dee Da, Moondreamers, Kurhn)

I have several robot/mech figures- most of it is Transformers mostly due to them being the least expensive+easiest to find+they have female characters, but I just recently bought my very first Super Robot Chogokin and I plan to buy another one next month.

I also recently bought several Bleeding Edge Goths dolls.
