Thanks for the comments...sounds like it could be a bit of a challenge to make this work, but I'll keep all your advice in mind.

butterflybuttons, do you have any photos of ponies you've drawn on with watercolour pencils that I could see?

I have never customised a pony or other toy before, but I rcently bought one of the blank, G3 ponies from the Hasbro website. I have an image in my mind of what I want to do, and it involves a very soft and sketchy look. My question is:

Is it possible to draw on these ponies with coloured pencil? And, if so, what kind of pencil specifically and what could I have to do with it (ie. would I have to seal it with a particular product or something) to stop the pencil from fading?

I hope you guys can help...I'm completely at a loss here!

I also like your pony-filled shadow-bow in the background :-)

That is just amazing! How did you even get your hands on such a treasure?

Diamond and Eluluu: I hadn't even considered the moisture issue (very inexperienced collector, here!) so I certainly appreciate the heads-up. I think that putting some of those desiccant  bags (or whatever they're called) in there is a great idea.

Yurusumaji and Kiwimlp: You're both right...meeting Stan Lee was an amazing experience. I had not realised how excited I would be until I actually got to the part of the line where I could see him...then I started to tremble..it would have been pretty funny to watch, actually!

He actually played a little with Masquerade, too! He trotted her about on the table in font of him and said "What a lovely little horsey. I think I'm in my second childhood!" *swoons*

Actually, here's a photo of me and Masquerade after the signing...I look about a tenth as excited as I actually was.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone! I showed the comments to my boyfriend and he seemed pleased, if a little embarrassed (he's shy)

Lavendar_Lace: Drawing pictures of flowes is a brilliant idea...and so sweet! In fact, I think I would prefer that to real flwes because you can keep the pictures forever and you can see the effort and thought that went into them.

Colorscapesart: Those are pretty good suggestions, actually. I've been thinking about whether she what could be used to give her hair, but I also like her as she is and am scared of ruining her. Hmm...something to think about.

Thanks, guys! It sure was fun...except for the lining up, of course. I'm thinking of keeping Masquerade separate from the rest of my herd now and maybe keeping her with my comics. I'd like to buy a nice bell-jar or something like that to keep her in.

Woah...I have a coat made out of almost identical material.

I'm not a unicorn, though, in case you were wondering :-P

Completely forgot to post this!

Last month it was the 5 year anniversary of my first date with my boyfriend.

As a gift he decided to make me a My Little Pony from scratch!

He carved it out of a couple of tree branches he found in a park near our apartment.

He used Baby Surprise as a model, and I think he did a pretty awesome job!

He even carved the year and our initials onto her hooves...but I couldn't get a very good photo of that.

I have named her "Baby Splinters".

There was a comic-book convention in Melbourne last weekend. After lining up for 10 hours over two days in an enclosed space with tens-of-thousands of strangers...I finally got Stan Lee to sign my pony:

Because of her bright colours, her wings, her jewel-eyes and, of course, the fact that her cutie mark consists of a series of masks, I have always considered masquerade to be the superhero of G1, so she was an easy choice for me when selecting a pony to take with me.

Stan Lee is one of my greatest heroes. For as long as I can remember, my older brother has read and collected Spiderman comics, so I have grown up thinking of Spiderman as another member of the family. Meeting Mr Lee was probably the most exciting experience of my life so far.

I just wanted to share this with you guys. If anyone else had photos of ponies they have had signed by anyone, please feel free to post them in this thread. I'd love to see!

Her mane is fantastic!

...also, to be clear, I do not mean that in a "I really like her...mane?" kind of way.
