Pony Corral / Re: Hydrogen Peroxide Turned Sugarberry's Hair Gold!

I come bearing more pictures! Unfortunately my friend has tossed the bottle of hydrogen peroxide since. It was an older bottle of standard over the counter hydrogen peroxide like you'd buy at the drug store for disinfecting cuts, nothing like for bleaching hair. Perhaps the age of the hydrogen peroxide caused this?

Anyway, pictures! Here she is put back together.

My friend pulled out her Dancing Butterflies to compare. She says that the photograph doesn't it show it quite right, but in the shadows Sugarberry's hair is a more golden tone than Dancing Butterflies. Wish I could see it in person so bad!

I would expect that to happen because peroxide will turn even the darkest hair blonde.... especially pure peroxide... in fact I would have thought her hair would fall to pieces too!

See that's the thing, this isn't the kind of peroxide like for hair bleach (though it of course has some bleaching characteristics, which is why it whitens pony bodies!). I've left ponies with dark colored hair (G1 Moondancer for example) in big tubs of hydrogen peroxide for a whole MONTH in the sunlight and had no damage to their hair at all. I've heard accounts of the neon yellow like G1 Surprise leaking out into the hydrogen peroxide, but have never really seen anything about other tones being damaged... So weird!

I'll get her to take a photo of Sugarberry all put together. Her tail was left out of the mix so it is still pink. It'll be an interesting combo!

This is actually a pony belonging to my best friend, but I just had to post this here. She's been soaking a G1 Sugarberry in hydrogen peroxide to attempt to whiten up her body. The pony was kept out of the sun during the soak and was checked everyday. Everything was going fine- I even saw the pony daily in the hydrogen peroxide while there for 9 days- and she'd been in there for about two weeks total when my friend forgot to check her for a few days. She came back to find.... this!

Both her and I are completely shocked! There'd been no change to her hair or any signs of the color leaking out until this. Her hair hasn't become brittle or dried like bleached hair typically does. The coloring is very consistent with little to no deviations in tone. I've done some work with hydrogen peroxide and whitening ponies before and never seen ANYTHING like this! And even then I wouldn't think Sugarberry's vibrant pink hair would turn so golden yellow if bleached. Anybody ever had this happen to them?
