Pony Corral / Re: Bronies, come answer my questions!
« on: January 25, 2012, 08:02:03 AM »
Not every guy who's into ponies is a 'brony'. I don't need to stand behind a label to make playing with ponies okay. Screw that. I like buying plastic toys and playing with their hair, that's fine with me. If you have a problem with that take your assumptions about gender roles and stick 'em where the sun doesn't shine.
QFT. Not every one of us likes to be associated with the "brony" movement. Particularly after run-in with the not-so-well-behaved ones.

My answers:
1. Long time ago. MLP&Friends was one of the shows in my childhood. It had meaning to me because one of my earliest childhood crushes was Megan. Then came Tales, and I got a crush on Sweetheart and the Slice of Life format (Tales started airing here after a slice of life show I loved, Arthur, got pulled, and I started looking for shows with a similar format). I skipped G3 and 3.5 mostly, but went into G4 upon falling in love with some of the toys, finding out that various VAs I love is on the show, and then getting hooked full after listening to Winter Wrap Up.
2. Single
3. I collect. Though it must be said that I did not have much interests in MLP toys before G4 came along.
4. As stated before, my interest in ponies started long before G4, and prettty much blossomed first time round with Tales. G4 just rekindled my love for the franchise.
5. No answer. I think it's pretty diverse. Most are good. Some are obnoxious. I don't really understand them myself.

That's horrible! Work on your quality, Hasbroken!
Thing is, it's not Hasbroken's doing. They licensed MLP out to a company- I believe this is the work of the company that makes the bubble bellies and other merch.

*Sigh* when something is popular like FiIM - the cr*p that anyone will put the logo on is simply bizarre. You would like to think HB would look more closely at their licensing...but at the end of the day money will win out and lets face it the factory quality of a lot of their own items are hardly amazing!
It applies to many popular franchises, I guess. In the end it's all about money and the rights holder won't even care if the end product the licensee churns out is tat.

Pony Corral / Re: Princess Cadence and Wedding Castle in our future?
« on: January 23, 2012, 07:10:41 PM »
€45 for the Castle? That's $60! Hopefully it's giant.

€25 for Cadence is a lot, too. I'd thunk down $30 for her if she's a special alicorn mold. Exciting news either way!

I think that is cool and all, but the fact that you found it on a German site makes me nervous that this will be yet another international exclusive. That will tick me off. Getting the individual ponies is hard enough, but if I had to try to get a castle.....I'd probably explode!
If it's going to be a rather big castle like those released in the 80s, it's going to kill me to import it.

Haven't seen them over here yet. But then, new releases slowed to a trickle since November and we're only getting train cars now.

OMG there's always a Pinkie Pie that starts talking when I'm trying to look at ponies! "Hi I'm Pinkie Pie" and scares me to death!!
Well, I found out that said Pinkie usually only does that when someone has activated her a while before. So yeah, if one suddenly jumps to life, it's probably because of the cheeky kid further down the same aisle.

Nope, I don't have a cassette player anymore either :/

There's one at my grandparents' place, but I think it's broken :/

I still have a VCR tho.

Pony Corral / Re: Where is the Star Dreams set?
« on: January 21, 2012, 10:10:20 PM »
Well, I've started seeing the sets on shelves over here since last October iirc. They're still pretty common here, given that they're the latest wave of the Story Sets. I see them at Metrojaya, Toys R Us and Isetan.

RAMChYLD Oh my gosh I usually don't like any of the new LPS but that little dragon looks really cute! Do you have any more pics of him?
Well, not at the moment. But If you want, I'll just take more pictures of him in the box. I'm not planning to unbox him. Toys R Us was giving these away for purchases of Hasbro toys totaling over RM80 in a single receipt (and just buying the two train cars qualified me). Claimed they were limited edition LPS pets.

Box shows signs of being an European packaging tho (round age rating, Multiple European languages, CE and sad onion). Product ID 37497.

Pony Corral / Re: That is the tiniest DVD I've ever seen!
« on: January 21, 2012, 11:05:57 AM »
I wonder if they would work on a PSP? They look about the some size of those game discs.
Don't do that! PSPs uses special formatting for their discs and is generally incompatible with file system used on DVDs. Come to think of it, I may be wrong, but i think the player software is usually stored on the UMD itself and a PSP has no provision of software for playing back mini DVDs.

And you'll need a shell for the disc too...

Well, my collection would be considered complete if the following goals are met:
- All G4 playful pony sets (includling vacation, glimmer wings and Light Up) collected, with all variants.
- One of each released G4 international bonus ponies collected, variants irrelevant.
- One of each released G4 playset (vehicles/riding along, buildings, story sets and pony sets) collected, variants irrelevant.
- One of each G4 So Soft pony collected
- All G4 blind bag ponies collected.
- Core 7 G3 ponies collected, dress-up set type only.
- Core 7 Tales ponies collected.
- Non-headbanging G2 Lady Sky Skimmer attained.
- All G4 episodes purchased on DVD
- G1 Coin operated ride acquired, pony irrelevant, but it has to talk with a polite little girl's voice in a charming British accent (unlike the one in the video Lancer uploaded to Youtube, but like the Paddington Bear and Spot the Dog rides at the local malls).

The last two, of course, are completely luck-based and depends on the position of the moon, stars, the location of the planet Earth in relative to Equestria through multiple dimensions, the state of mind of the CEO of Shout! Factory, the state of coin operated ride operators in the country, the state of my bank account, and the state of a monarch butterfly at latitude 0 degrees, longitude 0 degrees, altitude 1 meter at exactly midnight every day (the butterfly is the core of the chaos theory).

In layman terms, probably never

Want!

Too bad this is certainly going to be an import for me as Hasbro Malaysia already said that they're skipping the So Softs.

Though they brought in the Learn to Walk Pinkie anyway.

They're MiniDVDs. Those are about the size of GameCube discs I think, and well, the Wii accepts GameCube discs even though the slot is larger. No reason to believe the same applies on a DVD player. Although some slot-loading players do advise against using those- check your manual before use.

I get discs of that size with some computer equipment I buy too. Note that most trays on DVD players and drives have two ridges, you're supposed to fit it in the inner ridge.

I don't have an iPhone, but I do have an iPad and regularly play Bejeweled Blitz on it! It frustrates me to no end that one of my friends on the list (an ex-colleague from one of my previous workplaces) could score 600,000-700,000 points regularly when the closest I've gotten is 417,550, and that's with the help of the phoenix power up!
