Never read them. Though they sound interesting.

They're pretty awesome- if you like fantasy with a satirical twist, I'd highly recommend giving them a shot!

Pony Brag Arena / Re: A mini-brag and a BBE question.

She needs a soak in some CLR rather than boiling her.  :)  That's going to clean up those eyes faster than anything.

Oh and use gloves when dealing with CLR!

And will CLR help the grossness on her neck too? That's my main concern, really- the eyes aren't so bad but I suppose they could be better. All my ponies so far haven't had any problems soap and water couldn't handle so I haven't had to bring any serious chemicals to the party yet..

Pony Brag Arena / A mini-brag and a BBE question.
« on: June 07, 2015, 06:58:08 AM »
Yesterday we journeyed rather far to go to a big antique mall (over an hour's drive) since a coworker had let me know that she'd seen some MLPs there. (For those of you in the Kansas City Area, The Brass Armadillo).  I was happy to find a lot of ponies, mostly G4 and G3, but there were a handful of G1.  I kept my selection to three due to budget constraints (the prices were not outrageous but they were not bargain bin prices either).
(And I also got a super cute ornament, I fear kitty-themed Hallmark ornaments may become my secondary thing to try to collect..)

But anyway! The question. One of my finds was a BBE Baby Gusty. Her eyes look rust-free and I see no signs of tail rust, but her neck.... ew. Is it OK to boil BBEs? Will it hurt her eyes? I haven't cleaned one yet (my childhood BBEs are in the "I'm putting this off as much as I can" part of the To-Do Pile).

For Trade / Anyone want some fakies? :)
« on: June 06, 2015, 04:52:36 PM »
I got these in a mixed bag with McD's ponies at Goodwill... while I haven't the heart to pitch them, I have no real use for fakies myself (they are pretty cute, though, in their own way!)

I just wondered if anyone would like to trade something for them. I'm pretty open to offers- I just want them to get to someone who will enjoy them, and maybe get something interesting in return. Here's some pics.. if anyone is interested let me know what you might offer in trade. (Cat not included  ;) )  Or if you have questions or want to see more/better pics, let me know that too!

I am new to the arena, so I don't have any feedback here yet, but you can look me up on ebay (saranime82) where I have 100% positive feedback, if that helps.

My Pony Renaissance began with purchasing Tabby from Silverdawn on ebay! That led to me getting super into restoring my own childhood ponies (mostly to stop me from buying TOO many "new" ponies.... though I have bought quite a few over the last couple months...)

I couldn't say who my first childhood pony was, though... the ones I remember most from EARLy on were Bright Eyes and Quackers.

Oh yeah!  Going Postal is my favorite :)

That was the first Discworld book I ever read so it holds a special place in my heart for sure!

My favorites are the City Watch books, Thud! is probably the top but it's hard to choose... And while I really love the witch and wizard characters, I always have a tougher time getting through the books that focus on them, even though I really like the characters. Not sure what that's all about...

I went back a couple pages and didn't see any existing thread sooooo.... Just wondering if there are any Discworld fans here? I'm still pretty mopey over Sir Terry's passing so... Just wondering. Fave books, fave characters/groups, quotes, etc?

Pony Corral / Re: The To Do Pile
« on: June 06, 2015, 05:22:14 AM »
Awww man, I would love some of these 'to-do' piles but I just don't collect in that volume.  I find cleaning/restoring to be very soothing, but with a day job and a personal business to run, there's too much in the way...
Yeah, I have a day job, a dissertation to write, and a physical disability. Too many things to do and not enough time to clean ponies! I need to invest in a bar stool so I can just sit at the kitchen sink and clean ponies all afternoon sometime.

Even on my days off from work I don't have the patience to do too many ponies at a time.. I think the most I ever did in a single day was four. My pile is mainly childhood ponies so even though I have a ways to go, it's not likely to get a lot bigger... Much as I would like I can't afford big awesome pony lots... Doesn't stop me from watching them on eBay and fantasizing though.

You can't see it, but it's about a foot long and a foot deep. Solid ponies!!! Who all need a bath!! Help me! :yikes:

Wow! That's a bunch of ponies! Good luck!!

I just have fakies left to clean now... but I have about 200 ponies to photograph and list for sale....  sooo daunting. In fact that's why I'm here - procrastinating!

That actually sounds like way more work than cleaning!! Good luck!

Welcome! I'm new as well, I'm sure we will have fun here! Major bummer about the loss of your childhood ponies but it sounds like you and Applejack are bouncing back nicely! Look forward to seeing you around.  ^.^

Suddenly my own to-do pile doesn't seem nearly so intimidating! :D
Don't feel so bad. I really should have on my to-do list to dust all 500+ ponies, plus playsets that I have on display...  :freak: I haven't dusted in 7 years. (But then again the room is used very little...)

The only thing I feel bad about is the fact that the tougher cleaning jobs will be all I have left soon!
And oh, agh, dusting... That hadn't occurred to me either. I'm hoping to put my ponies all behind glass when they're done so hopefully that will mean less dusting....

For Trade / Re: My ponies for your fakies!
« on: June 04, 2015, 04:48:45 PM »
MagicStar- I have some fakies (I'm assuming that by fakie we mean non-Hasbro pony?) I got them in a bag at the Goodwill so I don't know if you'd be interested or not. I'd take just about anything for them, I have no real use for them myself but I don't have the heart to pitch them. ^^* I can post pics or send you a pm if you prefer (not sure of the protocol!). I wouldn't even ask you to look for anything in particular, and if you want to wait til you're sorted after the flea market, just wanted to let you know since you said you want fakies!
