Off Topic / Re: Toys that used to scare you as a child
« on: August 05, 2014, 09:27:57 AM »
On some Christmas my parents gave me a Rescue Pet - an over-the-top cutesy puppy thing that would whine and tilt its head when it sensed movement. It became a nuisance to all of us, so at one point I buried it in my toy chest in hopes of shutting it up. Big mistake - the motion senser still worked from deep within there, and any time someone would so much as walk up the stairs the thing would go off and start crying. One time I fell asleep in the same room as it and woke to the sound of what sounded like a demon from skeleton hell being strangled - it's batteries had finally started going out. Needless to say, we got rid of it not long after.

Also, I had a good sized collection of Puppy in my Pockets as a kid. A friend from school informed me that they were actually murderous little suckers, and had killed a classmate of ours whole she slept (in reality she'd moved to Canada or something). Around that time I started hearing strange noises at night; soft thuds on the carpet, like something very small being dropped repeatedly. I stopped playing with them and they were eventually moved to the attic, and eerily enough, the noises stopped.

Spoooooopy...

Have you actually taken her tail out? If you dont get to the root of the rust the reason it could be staining is simply that more and more rust is coming out. :)

If you are going to repink, the petal pink shade is the one you want.

Yep, I've removed her tail and the washer, and thank you! I'll probably start Love Melody today at some point  :)

Unfortunately, I don't have several months worth of patience, so I guess I'll have to take that risk xD

In the end everyone can use their own preferred methods on their ponies but please never sell any that have had the same treatment without clearly stating what was done. :)

Bought an "amazing WJ". She was lovely, and did this on me within a couple weeks. :( Thanks for telling me you used remove-zit or acne cream seller.

Ooh, I'll definitely remember that in case I sell her. Thank you!

Alright, after my initial panic I managed to scrape the worst of the rust off, and now there's just a faint but of pink near the base of her tail.

And thank you for your answers! It's good to know petal pink should work as well.

Mm, Hasbro's a pretty big corporation, and I doubt the occasional knockoff brand would hurt them too badly. Plus, we've seen that they have no problem going straight to the source of the issue and shutting them right down (or at least attempting to, it sounds like we haven't heard the last of Frontwinner just yet). Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I don't really think they're hurting for money at the moment, as MLP is huuuuuuuuuge, and some stuffed animal factory isn't going to hinder them too badly, so I can't really see what would be wrong about it.

But that's just my two cents.

Pony Corral / Tail rust + rit due questions??
« on: August 02, 2014, 02:34:53 PM »
Aright, so I've been attempting to fix some bad tail rust on a baby tiddleywinks I acquired. Unfortunately, since it was my first time, I made the incredibly stupid error of scrubbing down towards the rest of her tail instead of up by the plug, and now her entire tail is light pinkish brown. I've been rinsing and scrubbing it with toothpaste like crazy trying to get it off, but I don't think it's working  :( Right now the tail is soaking in toothpaste. Is the any way I can fix this, or is she a lost cause?

Also, I checked hobby lobby today for rit dye to repink another one of my ponies, but the color I'd seen people recommend - rose pink - wasn't there, and there was no place for it, so they don't stock it. I grabbed the closest one, petal pink, and scarlet red in case I should mix them together. Which would work best - mixing them, petal pink alone, or should I just give in and order some rose pink or something?

Sorry if these sound stupid, I'm kinda new to this whole restoration thing ^^'

Many thanks.

A while back I got a baby Honoloulou who'd been badly marked up by ballpoint pen. My usual methods did nothing, but the pen came almost clean off after i used clearisil and left her in the sun for a few hours. I'm not sure how well it would work on flocking, but maybe you could look it up or try?

Be careful when you do this - over the next ten years, that Clearisil will keep working into the plastic and lightening it!  Or browning it with white ponies...  Sunfading for several months is the best way to go with pen.

Unfortunately, I don't have several months worth of patience, so I guess I'll have to take that risk xD

My only blog at the moment is primarily a fandom blog, but I've been considering starting a side for MLP related things. Just have to figure out a URL...

If we're gonna appreciate fakies, can we take a moment to appreciate their glorious expressions?

Oh wow, I love the Diamond Rose error. She's MIB too and 've never seen any like her, so I bet she's worth a bit!
