Wanted! / Wanted - Primark Pony socks - UK exclusive?
« on: September 13, 2014, 06:49:35 PM »
Looking for a couple pairs each of the vintage primark pony socks.  Ive found three different styles online and are they are apparently from the UK.  Also looking for a couple pairs of the minion ones and the sleeping beauty pair.  Will gladly pay for them plus shipping with some extra for your time or trade if you'd prefer.

thanks :)

Trader & Shipping Support / Anyone ever sell gift cards on Ebay?
« on: June 29, 2014, 01:07:00 PM »
I have a coach gift card for $342 which was from a purse that ended up breaking in less then a year and was unrepairable.  Right now I'd like to have the money more than a coach shopping spree so I was thinking of selling it.  I'm kind of wary about selling it on Ebay because even if it has tracking the seller could still claim it was empty when it got there.

I've noticed a lot of gift cards can go for more then they're worth which seems really strange and makes me concerned that there is some sort of scam going on. If it was for a smaller amount I'd probably risk it but since it's such a large amount I need to be more cautious. Anyone have any experience selling gift card on Ebay, or know somewhere else better I should try?

I've had this girl in my collection for about 8 years now or just over. I'm planning on selling her and was just looking for a value.  I have her in the photo next to my regular Starburst for comparison.  The main difference is her gem is dark green instead of yellow and her tail is also about half as thick as normal Starburst and she has a smaller tail hole.  She has two cut plugs and a line in her plastic on her nds.  Both flaws can be seen in the last pic.

Thanks :)

Here's a firefly cake I made a few years ago.  I just made a bunch of round cakes, froze them and then carved the shapes for her features out of them. The wings and features were made out of fondant.  She turned out looking kind of pudgy but she was really tasty.

Pony Corral / Re: G1 MOC/MIB Ponies, Where Do They Come From?
« on: May 31, 2013, 06:51:55 AM »
I think a lot of what's coming up for sale now is from collectors but like others mentioned sometimes people have toys tucked away for years or there's old stock somewhere.  I've been collecting on and off since 2000 and I used to scour flea markets and any old shops that I thought might be lucky but the only MOC I found outside of here and Ebay was three pony outfits. Two at a flea market in the early days and a MOC Megan outfit at a collectables store in Cincinnati.  I think it's a lot of collectors dream to stumble upon MIP ponies.  I know I always get that little hope whenever I'm searching a likely spot but sadly even loose G1 ponies have been super rare for me the past years.

Pony Corral / Re: Insured your collection?
« on: April 23, 2013, 11:19:14 AM »
After we had a house fire my insurance company covered mine under the household contents.  They even sent away the ones that had just been exposed to the smoke for cleaning so the smell didn't set in.  I just sent them ended ebay auctions for ones I bought to replace ones lost and basic values of the commons that got ruined and it came out to about $3000.   I didn't even really have to prove what I did and didn't have. But I had to decard a quite a few that had smoke damage to bad to the boxes it was going to stain the ponies and I sold about 30 smokey mocs at a huge loss bc of the damage.

As a side note the company that cleaned them did a horrible job and left them a giant mess. They sold me on their service telling me about all these beanie babies they cleaned and had to reattach the tags and everything and how careful they were.  They saved them from the smoke but the chemical they used dried out the hair and left them all with a chemical smell not to mention they mixed all my accessories and ponies and a couple even had water left in them and rusted...I had to rewash and rebag and sort all of them.  It was terrible and so upsetting to have all that money paid and I still have probably a box full of them after all these years I haven't gotten around to recleaning.  I would never let any other cleaners touch my collection again if it happened in the future.

I think it really depends on the insurance company. I no longer have such a huge collection as I really got out of it after all the frustration after the fire but I think if they're valued over $1000 you should call your insurance company and make sure you have what they need to cover them or purchase collectors insurance.

Like so much!  Now I want to deflock my one, but my one's flocking isn't too bad.  :(

I have one over in the for sale forum with flocking poor enough that you could justify deflocking her.  Then you could have a SS version and a non SS version

I'm in the same boat as Baby Sugarberry with the crazy Canadian shipping prices plus the few ponies I'm looking for are rare or htf and I really am a NM-mint collector.  I've done a few trades in the past and I've been very happy with them though.  If shipping was more reasonable I'd definitely do it more often for a few commons I'd like as it can be really fun!

She looks beautiful! You did a great job.  As much as I love some of my SS's the manky ones looks so gorgeous deflocked.  It must've been a ton of work.  I have a couple half deflocked ones here that I never finished.  I commend anyone that can see the project to the end.

I'm pretty sure that I bought one of those patterns years ago.  I just learned some knitting this past Christmas but I'm still at the basic scarf and hat stages.  I've always wanted to see a finished sweater but have never seen one posted over the years.

Sorry Corral mods..last post here for the giants.

Just posted the plushie patterns over on the for sale forum for any one following along.  Anyone that pm'd me and I replied to I have you on the list so I'll be able to send out when I receive payment.  Busy tracing away at my dining room table. :)

Pony Corral / Re: Curing smokey ponies?

I read somewhere that putting them in the freezer helps too.  Mostly for me whenever I've gotten smokey ponies it's a lot of fresh air and time that seems to help the most.  There's some great ideas here though :)

:tackleglomp: roseare...so lovely to see you around the forums :)

Plush are soooo popular right now and the giants regularly come up for discussion - you will have tonnes of interest!

I know I would be super interested myself in a pattern so I cant wait for the chance to buy.

Great to see you too.  :)

I really miss the mod days but you know how life takes over unfortunately.  Nice to still see plenty of familiar faces :)

I've been seeing all the lovely plushies on ebay and here and they're all so nice. Almost makes me want to make another plushie for myself sometime soon, although maybe not a giant due to space.  :)
