Light, temperature, and humidity are the enemies of just about anything you want to preserve.
When storing something long term, I wrap it up in acid-free tissue paper to prevent it reacting with other items or the container. I still use plastic bins and bags because of price and availability, but I sometimes think metal or "good" cardboard boxes would be the best... except for air circulation.
Degradation of the plastic and vinyl, out gassing or plasticizer leakage, just seems inevitable. Like an archivist, you've got to monitor a collection. So I check and repack every now and then, which is a great excuse to play with things, remember "oh, I have that!", and get 'em out in circulation for a while. Ponies are meant to be enjoyed.

When rearranging the contents of my car's trunk, I found the Luna pin I lost from my work bag last week.

How do you best wash a G4 build a bear pony? <snip> She stands pretty well too so I want to keep it that way if possible.
I've been fortunate to find rather clean BaB ponies, so they've only required spot cleanings. Almost all plushes get a rub down with a disposable wipe that doesn't contain harsh cleaning agents. Too many times used plush figures seem to have a chemical odor, which I suspect is due to the thrift store sanitizing process: some places seem to reek of it the minute you step in. For that, I do a "shake-and-wait" in a bag with baking soda. The bag gets placed where I can see and give 'em a daily tumble when I pass. I do that for a week. Then they go into a mesh bag and spend forty minutes on air fluff in the dryer, alone. Mane and tail hair repair is a whole and separate matter. If you're fortunate enough to live near a BaBW store, they'll re-stuff the critter for free. I got a rather floppy Rarity some time ago, and they changed her stuffing out so she's rather plump. No charge, although I felt obliged to buy the clothing for her and Rainbow Dash (that I wanted anyway!). Good luck!

I really liked the first act: a couple of laugh out loud moments for me.

From my MLP Merch list: G1 through G3G1 Ponies | 3 | G1 Retro | 12 | G2 Ponies* | 4 | G3 Ponies | 13 | G3.5 Ponies | 6 | Total | 38 | * Estimate G4 FiguresBlind Bags | 176 | Friendship is Magic Collection | 51 | Brushables | 83 | Equestria Girls | 2 | Equestria Girls Minis | 20 | Guardians of Harmony Figures | 16 | Cutie Mark Crew Figures | 7 | Hasbro POP | 4 | Plush | 43 | Other Figures | 48 | Basic Fun | 5 | Funko Figures | 46 | Total | 501 | G4 Non-figural itemsTrading Cards | 113 | CCG Cards | 428 | Dog Tags | 45 | Media | 4 | Total | 590 |
Full disclosure: Some of the items under G3 and G4 are partials, with I have some or most of the accessories but no figure. With play sets, I might have the building or vehicle, but lack one or more figure. For all categories, because of the nature of MLP Merch's record keeping, duplicates aren't counted. Thank heavens for the checklist! So much comes in, gets identified, cleaned up, and then sent to storage because I lack space to display them. Of all the above, only the Funkos and Rarity Army is on display, along with perhaps a third of the blind bags.

This was very reminiscent of "Castle Sweet Castle."
And yes, "playset" too. At least I think it looks better than Twilight's crystal thing-a-ma-jigger.

she's such a gentle looking pony.
Perfect description. In general, I'm not a big fan of TAFs, but the forelock and her pose are great.

I do like her color and hair, and the jewel, but the symbol doesn't work for me.

Try Avon Skin So Soft or Goo Gone, but only on non-porous surfaces.

Anyone know how to fix it? My Cadence has a braided tail and I'd like to take the braid out. Thanks every pony!
I've had good luck dealing with it just as you would any other doll hair, being able to restore some really tangled Twilight Sparkles and a Rarity who had a clump for a mane. If it requires a bit of ironing to de-frizz or remove kinks, I only work the hair while wet, small sections, and at the absolute lowest temperature. It also helps to have an assistant hold the body off the ironing board so you can work the mane and tail while they are flat.

I guess I have to be the contrarian: I like her color combination, but not her symbol. It's like a mashup or something; lacks symmetry? And how does a bejeweled cup play into her name? Sorry, but I just don't understand.
Now, it doesn't mean I would pass her by, just not seek her out.
