Customs / Re: My attempt to do a bun without pins

Spongers? I'm not that versed in hair products so.. enlighten me XDD

Edit: Oh that's kind of similar to what I did with photos I posted XD only with pipe cleaners and a bit more bulky XD

Stupid forum... it got stuck and wouldn't let me go anywhere, I had to close my browser, clean everything and then open again and relog in and then find this and find my link and arghhh. Maybe try something that won't give when you wrap the hair? and something with a bit of grip and firmness, like, i dunno use some fimo and make your own and wrap it with string?. I hate pipe cleaners, THEY DON'T EVEN CLEAN ANYTHING.

...I'm biased.

Trying some needle with some clear thread? During elizabethan times they use to actually sew thread to their hair to hold it in place and it could be held like that for several days, without the pain of having pins stabbing at your scalp. So you could have eh same do' for at least a week.

Maybe it'll work for ponies?

Mmmm possibly, I considered that with the 'twist' style bun
If it's good enough for Ol' Elizabeth it's good enough for your ponies ahahaha! xDDD! what about using spongers for the hair and just wrapping it around it?

Customs / Re: blending doll hair

Hi hon I am still new so do waste a little bit (though definitely getting better) to blend it is just taking time easing the stranfds out and practising. How are you blending?

How also are you re-rooting? I use needle thread method and generally dont have problems except on small plugs, again it took a lot of practise for me. hope someone can give solid advice soon x
I was using the dollyhair tool, it just got tangled and some slipped away and all that. I tried blending it like i did the mohair, but nylon is far too stiff for that I found >_>;; http://riorondo.com/info/brochures/pdf/HAIRING.PDF

how the heck do you blend it? I've got some colours but I want to blend them myself, i tried last time and wasted half it by getting it all tangled and knotty! Is it normal for waste hair while blending? And when rooting, I found some where tangled and I ended up throwing a handful of hair away!

how do I blend hair without wastage and how do I root without wastage?

Looks like there's still room  on the second list.

ugh, Customs should know what drugs and what not look like by now. Maybe there's some sort of compensation you can get? Blame customs and those people customs have to keep an eye out for. Customs are suppose to know what's what, especially with ponies being around for so long they should figure it's a collectible and not a vessel for drugs... Mostly.

Heck. I'd mail you some if you like at no special charge. Just the cost of shipping and what it cost to buy it. You can check USPS.com for a shipping estimate if you like. It would be coming from north little rock, Ar. 72116

I assume shipping to Australia would be murder though D: I'm going to try one more coat of varnish and see what happens, It says not to dilute with water and my brush might have been wet last time...

Hmm, I just looked and it'd be about $12 for 16 ounces to ship to oz from anywhere in the us.

XD :frolic: AHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA, HAHAHAHAHAHA..HAHAHAHHA, HHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH OH THE GODS ABOVE HAVE MERCY.

I JUST called the company that made the Varnish to ask them some questions and it went something like this.

Lady: So are you a hobby or professional artist
me:....Hobby?
Lady: ...Oh I seeeee, well, what did you use the varnish on?
Me: Acrylic paint?
 Lady: then what's the problem?
me: well after a few days of being left alone it STILL hasn't cured.
lady: well that's because of all the humidity around not letting it dry, because of all the moister in the air, I recommend taking a hair dryer to it and gently heating it to dry it out. But normally it takes 24 hours to cure
 me: ......Okay. That sounds easy.

and then we end the conversation and I just realised I'd been treated a bit like an idiot. Really? The weather? I painted the varnish on a hot and dry day. It should dry according to her theory, not to mention a good varnish dries regardless since i'm PAINTING IT INSIDE THE HOUSE. Though I must admit i'm tempted to take a hair dryer to the pony.
But I did lie about what I was painting on. I didn't think I could convey to her that I was painting a plastic pony without sending her into a fit of laugh or to the field of confusion.

Off Topic / Riding schools in Brisbane?!
« on: February 20, 2012, 05:06:40 AM »
Are there any riding schools in brisbane in the south/south-east of brisbane? I've found the gumdale pony club but I found I get more of a response from the neighbours dog than them.

Does anybody know of any that aren't out in the middle of nowhere? Kinda seems a bit redundant to drive all the way out there just to learn to ride lol!

She's lovely, I really like the idea of making her look like an actual cheetah!

And what'a persona?

A persona is a pony that you choose to represent yourself.  The pony in my avi and sig is Vessa, my persona.  I designed her to represent who I am and she is essentially me in pony form.  You'll notice that most of us have original characters that we use as our "personas" or sometimes "ponysonas."  Whichever word you prefer  XD
oohhh, no I don't consider her my persona lol, I like to make OC's from fandoms or just on their own. She just happened to materialize like this while I was getting stuck customizing a pony for a friend (she just joined the arena today/yesterday- HOORAH!) and I just fell all over her and realised how much I like the design.. Or maybe I just like spots and using the colour yellow? haha :D

I think if I did a persona of myself, it'd be like, a sloth pony.

She's very unique :) I like her eyes
Nice work!!

Aw thank you guys ^_^, so she has a cheetah physique and all that? I'm thinking maybe thinner ankles, shins and hooves or possibly giving her cloven hooves.
