For Sale - For Auction / G1 doubles for Trade or sale
« on: September 18, 2021, 07:10:30 AM »
So I’m finally getting around to setting up selling my doubles and ‘oops, I couldn’t afford that’ ponies.

I have a preference for trading if at all possible. You can find my wish list here http://mlparena.com/index.php/topic,401816.msg1857954.html#msg1857954 Can also do 'part exchanges' of ponies and money!

I’m in Belgium and will ship anywhere, but if you are outside of the EU, I would ask that you but more than one pony to make the customs forms worth while! I don't mind shipping as a gift.

In BE, FR, ES, NL I can send Mondial Relay. I also use UPS and Bpost. Feel free to check out your own postage options from Belgium and make a proposal if you see something cheaper.

Payment preferably by PayPal, but bank transfer works for me in the EU.

UK buyers, I am British, so if you want to avoid international post, there is an underground pony railway in the form of my parents next visit!

P.s I also have Cherry Treats, little giggles, Starry wings, baby buttons and Chief but they are not pictured as they have not had their spa day!

Pony Corral / Advice on Facebook auctions?
« on: September 13, 2021, 07:43:36 AM »
Hi all,

So, the background to this question is that I am finally getting ready to sell my big pile of G1 doubles (as well as a few other gens that have popped up). They are mostly a result of buying lots to get specific ponies, but I also had a collection in two different countries and managed to buy some silly doubles  :lookround:

I was just planning on putting them up in here, but since recently joining some facebook groups for G1 collectors, I have seen that FB auctions are very en vogue!

I have never actually managed to join one, because life's busyness has picked back up, so I wanted to ask the forum's honest advice...

Would I be being silly not to consider this as an option?

I'm not sure why, but something feels a little 'off' about fb auctions, but I can't exactly put my finger on what.

Does anyone have experience with them? Pro's / cons? Is it a good way to shift lots of ponies in one night!?

Thanks so much in advance all!

Toy Box & Games Cupboard / Do people collect 80s trolls?
« on: August 23, 2021, 11:47:58 PM »
Just wondering if people know if there is any interest in Trolls from the 80s? The ones with a shock of sticky-uppy brightly coloured hair?
I won a box of toys at auction that had ponies I wanted and it had a huge box of trolls in. I’m wondering whether I should pop them up on Vinted, but I’d have no idea if they have any worth.

MLP Nirvana / Price check on Spanish Daddy Bright Bouquet
« on: August 20, 2021, 02:35:04 PM »
Just wondering if anyone knows roughly what the worth would be of Daddy Bright Bouquet with no country from Spain?
I thought my double of him looked a little off (the heavy black eyeliner!) and just realised he’s Spanish. Trying to decide whether to keep him!
Thanks.

Pony Corral / Fixing Windy / Summer Wings
« on: August 03, 2021, 12:29:21 AM »
I recently picked up a Moonjumper with both original wings - but one has snapped off at the base, and a Glow missing both her wings.

I was wondering if anyone had any tips regarding trying to reattach the wing? I'm guessing a thin line of super glue probably would do the job, so maybe celotape to support?

For Glow; does anyone know of anyone in the EU or UK making replacement wings at the moment?

I want to get these ladies looking lovely again!
Thanks in advance for any help.

Just a little warning for buyers in the EU and sellers outside that I had a bit of a nasty shock with the VAT exemption that was cancelled as of 1st July.

https://finance.belgium.be/en/customs_excises/private-individuals/sending-and-receiving-parcels/new-vat-rules-e-commerce#q3

I bought a Tik Tac Toe in need of some love for about 12EUR and just had to pay 21EUR to get her out of customs quarantine

With ebay fees and postage, in all I paid about 50eur for a pony with a hair cut and pen marks  >_< My own fault really for not doing the math and getting excited about a pony on my wish list!

US based sellers may want to see if they can sign up for the EUs one stop shop for VAT to make selling easier.

Now off to give my new pony a bath......  :rainbow:

I have just received a box where I bought a whole collection and it had a couple of v pleasant surprises inside! I had a look to see if I could find some recent PCs on these, and could only find a recent sale of a Snuzzledrop. I'm not sure if I'll be selling (apart from Snuzzledrop, who's now a double), so it's more curiosity than anything!
Thanks!

Macau Snuzzledrop
Macau Peachy
Italian Bubbles
Italian grey (Blossom colours?) variant of of Butterscotch
French Bowtie with white hair and pink bows
French Cotton candy (white hair)
Spain Cherries Jubilee (with 'Spain' stamped on hoof, so not NC).

Of all of them, i'm most curious about Spanish Cherries Jubilee. I had a little google and I couldn't find out much about her. She's got beautiful pale pink hair and is the best condition of everyone in the box. I'm so in love  :lovey:

EDIT

Based on the replies below - it may just be a question of being on holiday - so I don't want to badmouth another Arena member without knowing for sure. Will update if I don't hear anything soonish!

MLP Nirvana / Hair match for piggy melocoton (butterscotch)?
« on: July 12, 2021, 02:17:36 AM »
Hi all,

I have a Melocoton that has had a mane trim up front. Does anyone happen to know if there is anywhere that does a good hair match so I can fix her?

I'm think it's going to be devilishly difficult to find something that is not only the right shade, but also just as silky and fine  >_<

On a related note, there is a small pen dot on my Azul Celeste. I'm guessing sunfading would be a bad idea?

Thanks!

Pony Brag Arena / I never thought I’d have a brag but…..
« on: July 09, 2021, 11:09:55 AM »
I never thought I’d get to upload something here, as I live in an area without any 2nd hand shops…but it must have been my lucky day.
Popped into a toy store and they had a lemondrop on a shelf. I asked if they had any more and she pointed to a low shelf COVERED in G1s.
She said she was selling her old collection.

In amongst the Tootsies, and Lickety splits was this fella….
For €14!!!! I’m so so so happy!

Pony Corral / Would I be crazy to take my ponies tanning!?
« on: June 28, 2021, 02:10:55 AM »
So this is inspired by the thread from LadyAmalthea about her successful sunfade of Cherries Jubilee.

Where I live we are not getting much sun at the moment, and the forecast doesn't look set to change any time soon.

It got me thinking - would a sunbed do the same trick as a couple of days of decent weather!?

The mental image is hilarious. I'm super pale and ginger, so not a good idea for me to go 'tanning' but I could take a bag of ponies that need sunfading and sit and read the newspaper while they sit in the sunbed. I looked it up, and apparently 20mins is the equivalent of 4 hours in direct sunlight.

Has anyone else tried this? Am I crazy?  :drunk:

Customs / UPDATE AND REVEAL: ! Help! I bought a three legged pony!
« on: June 23, 2021, 03:56:53 AM »
Woops! I bought a three legged pony.

If I had read past the words 'played with' condition, I might have seen 'amputation' further down in the description.

This is my first time trying to post an image, but in case it doesn't work...here's the description... I accidentally bought the sister of the Apple Delight loving family with only three legs.

I'm not opposed to trying my hand at epoxie sculpt, but i've never done anything like this before.

In the experienced opinion of customisers / restorers, is this even worth trying or is a missing leg just too much work?

I've been thinking of ways I could take a mold of the existing leg of a baby in the same pose and use it to make a new leg.

Any advice welcome, even if it's to cut my losses and bin her :-(

Arts & Crafts Corral / Reproduction head wear for brother ponies?
« on: June 16, 2021, 01:10:12 PM »
Hi all,

I've just picked up Wig Wag (in a pretty bad state), and I want to start restoring him. I've found some sellers on ebay that make some of the hats, but do you all know of anyone who does the head dress for wigwam, or maybe even the set of hats?

Thanks for you help.

Emily

OMG, Wig WAM obviously! I was tired when I wrote this!

Introductions / Back into the arena
« on: June 15, 2021, 12:41:58 PM »
This is actually a rather nice idea, to have a mandatory introduction before lurking! I suppose it breaks the ice.

Hi, I am Emily, and I am a secret pony addict.

The majority of my (all G1) ponies were bought in my childhood, and even then I was obsessed with picking them up at jumble sales. I continued to buy the odd one here and there all through my teen year, into a serious legal career. Literally, no one would suspect how I spend my spare time and money! I became a mum (yes, I'm British!) a couple of years ago and my daughter spotted part of the collection stashed away. Now I have an excuse to get them back out, and i'm here looking for tips and tricks on restoration and cleaning, as well as drooling over pictures of other peoples collections.

Thanks so much for having me!

Emily
