Pony Corral / G1 MLP Crochet Clothing Patterns?
« on: June 10, 2019, 02:06:17 PM »
Years back you could find several free patterns online to crochet cute little dresses and outfits for the G1 ponies. I used to have copies of them saved to my computer, but they've disappeared and of course Google was no help in finding them again. :(

So I was wondering if anyone here still had copies of any of those crochet patterns? Or any new ones? I'm in the mood to crochet little outfits, but am not so good at free handing it. ;)

Edit: Sorry, wrong section. Haven't been a regular poster in awhile and I didn't see that an Art's & Crafts area had been added until after I posted.

Pony Corral / MLP ID sites that are still updated?
« on: May 29, 2019, 05:25:53 PM »
Haven't been actively collecting in a number of years (any MLPs I found second hand or on sale went into plastic storage totes) So anyway I decided to try and sort through the 4 overflowing totes of unsorted ponies today and was sad to discover so many of the ID sites I had bookmarked either no longer exist or haven't been updated in years. :(

Are there any new MLP ID sites that are still being updated with the new G4 ponies?

The Dollhouse / American Girl vs Generic Dolls, Size?
« on: January 12, 2014, 11:37:56 AM »
Can anyone tell me which generic (cheap) brand of doll is the closest in size to the American Girl dolls? Clothes, shoes, and accessories fit wise?

My little niece who lives several states away got an American Girl doll for Christmas, but not much in the way of clothes or accessories. So I thought it would be nice for her birthday next month to sew/crochet a bunch of hand made clothes and stuff for her doll. I even went out and bought a couple of American Girl doll patterns. I was all set to start sewing when it hit me... I don't have an American girl doll to model the clothes on.  I really don't want to spend $100+ dollars on a doll that's just going to be a sewing dummy. So I figured since quality doesn't matter I'd pick up one of the generic look alike dolls, problem is I've never seen an American girl doll in real life... any help would be greatly appreciated!

Pony Corral / Why Dolls?
« on: August 26, 2013, 10:06:53 PM »
Is anyone else upset over the Equestria girls direction that Hasbro is taking? Well I guess its a neat idea, sort of. I just don't like the direction its taking MLPs! There are a zillion and one toy dolls out there, more then enough to choose from for children(adults) who like dolls. But MLP is the only pony toy line. (except for Breyer horses, but come on their generally so expensive that their not as accessible to the average kid) I guess I just don't understand. :( MLPs are already looking less and less like ponies as it is, why take a toy line that has always been for those who love horses/ponies and turn them into just another doll toy?

Off Topic / Favorite Boardgames?
« on: February 10, 2013, 06:54:26 PM »
I, like so many people now days, have been so into all the high tech gadgets, gizmo's and game systems that I'd completely forgotten just how much fun boardgames can be! :) Well a month ago me and some friends where looking for something to do and we ended up pulling out some old boardgames. We had so much fun that we now try to have a game night at least once a week. ;)

So this topic is part curious how many people still play boardgames and part looking for some new games to try. So far our favorite games are 'Apples to Apples', 'Compatibility', and 'Say Anything'  :)

What are your favorite games?

Anyone here have Windows 8? I'm thinking of getting a new laptop, but I'm having a hard time finding one with Windows 7 (Which is what I have now and just finally getting used to). I've heard nothing but bad reviews of Windows 8. So I'm curious if its as bad as the reviews say?

What's your opinion of it?

Pony Corral / All Gen Checklists?
« on: January 10, 2013, 08:39:05 AM »
I've been on a break from MLPs for awhile and so any ponies I found went right into a big storage bin, then three. Anyway I have several hundred loose ponies of all gens that need IDing and organizing. so I figured now would be a good time to redo and update all my checklists. (even bought a new purple binder for it) Problem is most of my book marked ponysites are no longer there or else the checklists haven't been updated in years.

I did a search on here for checklist and found a lot of post from people saying they were working on making complete checklist but no updates to indicate if they completed them or where they might have been made available for download.

So if the helpful ponies here could direct me to their favorite checklist, I would much appreciate it! :)

Off Topic / Where's a camcorder...
« on: July 08, 2012, 08:13:43 PM »
Where's a camcorder when you need one?

I was just sitting on the couch watching TV, my older cat Julie sleeping next to me, my younger cat Squeaker playing on the other end of the couch. I looked over to see what he was playing with, some how he had gotten a hold of one of my rubber hair bands. He flopped on his side holding onto the band with his teeth and started kicking at it with his hind leg. He managed to hook a back claw on it and pulled stretching it out. He then let go of it with his teeth, the band then flew across the couch hitting my older cat in the butt, startled she jumped up landed off balance on the back of the couch and fell off behind the couch. Squeaker had such a surprised look on his face, and Julie came out from behind the couch meowing up a storm (I swear she was telling him off) and I'm laughing so hard my side hurts.

Of all the times to not have a camcorder rolling.

Off Topic / Selling Crafts on Etsy?
« on: June 17, 2012, 10:04:06 PM »
I love doing a variety of crafts and have been toying with the idea of trying to sell some on Etsy. I've never actually sold any of my crafts before. I usually just give then as gifts, but the people I give them to love the stuff I make. Not sure if anyone would actually be willing to pay for the things I make. I would love to hear from Etsy sellers, what its like? With the fees and such is it even worth it? What types of items sell or don't sell. Any tips, tricks or advise would be greatly appreciated! I'd also like to here about your experiences selling on Etsy and what types of things do you sell? Or if your a buyer what types of things do you buy, what draws you to certain items. that kinds of things. :)

If you could have a super power what would it be?

After the day I've had, I really wish I could read minds. LOL But then I also think it would be cool to be able to breath underwater.

Pony Corral / Renaming MLPs
« on: May 25, 2012, 04:06:19 PM »
When I was little (Back in the G1 days before the internet) I never kept the backcards so I didn't always know/ remember what a ponies real name was, especially if I got the pony from a garage sale. so I made up names for them. Today even though I know their real names I still think of my childhood ponies by the names I gave them.   Hopefully I'm not the only one who did that.

Like Honeysuckle was Flower and Morning Glory was Ivy.
Skippity Doo was Jumps Rope, :P
Sherbet was Sunday
And Blueberry Baskets was Berry Blue. :) Just to name a few.

So what are some ponies you renamed because you didn't know or didn't like thier real name?

Everyone should have a daily dose of cuteness to get them through the day! So I thought I'd start a cute animal topic.
So let the cuteness begin! :)

Pony Corral / Collecting Toys...
« on: May 18, 2012, 05:13:50 PM »
... Apparently its like stealing from children.  :|

I was at a thrift store earlier with my one friend (apparently I need to stop hanging out with Alice as she's a weird encounter magnet. LOL) Anyway I was over looking at the toys when she comes over all excited saying look what I found on a shelf over in housewares! and she hands me Lily Lightly and asked if I have her in my collection yet? I told her I didn't and how cool it was that she still worked, when this elderly lady comes up to us all upset and asked if I was really buying that toy for myself and then went into a rant saying "you adults who collect toys aught to be ashamed of yourselves! taking toys away from children, you should all grow up and get a real hobby and stop stealing from little children! why some little girl would come in here and love to have that toy! thats who should buy her! not adults who need to grow up" and then she just stormed away...

I can honestly say thats one of the oddest encounters I've had in a thriftstore and I'm not entirely sure how to feel about it.
