Wow! I've been watching that Venezuela beauty for over a week now (not trying to bid, just drooling and wondering how high she'd go and the auction just ended. I can't believe how much she sold for!!! I wish I could post a link since the auction has ended but for some reason, I can't find it anymore. Congrats to the lucky (and wealthy) winner!!!

Edit: Someone posted a link below and I edited my title because it was a Lickety Split, not a Posey

Pony Brag Arena / One step closer...
« on: August 14, 2013, 05:55:32 PM »
I haven't been collecting as many ponies as I used to in the past year but I still maintain the same goal : to own at least one pony from every country that they were manufactured in.

Today, I received this beauty, which I bought from another member here:

She is my first pony from Macau. I now own ponies from all of the following countries:

Argentina
Brazil
Germany
Greece
Holland
Italy
Macau
Mexico
Peru
South Africa
Spain
Venezuela
And a faky Takara pony from Japan, which is probably all that I'll ever be able to afford, lol :)

I'm still seeking ponies from Colombia, Denmark/Australia and France and possibly eventually a Piggy pony and a Princess variant. It will probably be a long time before I complete my goal though because I'm not planning on buying more than one or two new ponies a year at the moment. I'm not interested in the Indian ponies because they're too similar to North American versions or the Thailand Big Brothers.

Pony Corral / Canterlot ponies at Superstore/Maxi in Canada???
« on: September 04, 2012, 09:19:44 AM »
I hope that this hasn't been posted yet... I was just at Maxi in Laval, Quebec (Maxi belongs to Loblaws and I think it's the same as Superstore in the rest of Canada) and I found the Styling Luna/Celestia Canterlot combo pack, as well as the other Canterlot set where the ponies are dressed up in gowns (Royal Ball at Canterlot Castle). They looked like they had just arrived, since the shelves were pretty full. They're pretty expensive though (32$ for the Luna/Celestia set, not sure about the other one) but I was pretty happy to see them here in Quebec!

They also had other Target exclusives like Shine Bright Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie and Celebration at Canterlot Castle (with Starbeam Twinkle)!

I'll have to go back and buy some :)

MLP Nirvana / Greek Baby Zizi (question)
« on: July 23, 2012, 03:04:07 PM »
Everytime I see Greek Baby Lemondrop on ebay, I'm always surprised to read her Greek name. I was wondering if someone here who speaks Greek could tell me what "Zizi" means in that language? Because let's just say that in French, it means something that wouldn't be used as a name for a baby pony!  *giggles*
(It's not really a bad word, just a word that little children use to designate a body part...). I hope that I'm not being completely inappropriate by posting this, I'm just curious to know what inspired this name!

MLP Nirvana / A quick fix for a Greek baby with a damaged eye
« on: May 26, 2012, 11:24:36 AM »
I recently purchased a flawed Greek Baby Blossom from skyrocketneko. I didn't have any Greek ponies and I really wanted a baby but didn't think that I could afford one for a while. So when I saw this one for sale for a decent price, I decided to buy her despite her flaws, especially since I knew that she could still display well on the side with the good eye...

Anyways, she arrived in the mail earlier this week and I came up with a way to fix her up. I didn't want to repaint the eye because I don't trust myself to do a good enough job and I didn't want to send her to a customizer because I would have had to pay for the work and for shipping and I don't want to spend more money. So I scanned her good eye with my scanner and I made a mirror image of it. I then printed the image on a sticker sheet and I cut around the iris and stuck it on the missing eye. It's not perfect yet. For one thing, since I couldn't close the lid of my scanner, too much light came in and the colours are washed out. And the sticker doesn't stick very well... But I can always make a better sticker later. Anyways, here's what she looks like for now :

I even attempted to make her a pirate patch but it doesn't want to stay in place because of the shape of her head and neck :)

Anyways, I know that it's not a perfect solution but at least now I can display her without having to scream in horror everytime I get a glimpse of her "other" side, lol!

Wanted! / Wanted : Nirvanas from around the world
« on: April 11, 2012, 07:06:55 PM »
I've recently completed a long-time goal, which was to collect all the variants of G1 Heart Throb. Now I would like to move onto something else: buy one Nirvana pony from every country that they were made in. Here's a list of the countries that I already have one from and the ones that I don't, with a short list of ponies from that country that I would like to have. I prefer ponies that are different enough from their Hong Kong counterparts so I'm not likely to want a NC Peachy, for example :)

Countries that I already have

Italy : 2 Heart Throbs, Alternate hair Parasol, Tootsie
Brazil : Heart Throb
Greece: Baby Blossom and Baby Blue Belle
Argentina : 3 Heart Throbs and baby butterscotch
Peru : Baby Medley
Spain/NC : Baby Heart Throb
Mexico : Adult Medley with rainbow hair
South Africa : Heart Throb
Scandinavia : Yellow Moondancer (?)
Dutch: Is Baby Schoolbag dutch?

Countries that I do not have or that I want another one from

Greece : any adult pegasus or unicorn with colours that are different from HK (ex. orange Medley, blue Sunbeam)

Colombia : any adult pony, in decent shape (ex. Bowtie or Applejack variant, or Daddy Apple Delight)

Venezuela : any of the weird-coloured ones that keep popping up, as long as the price isn't too high :)

Macau : I have my eye on Jenny, but I also like Blosscotch and Snuzzle-drop.

France : Any of Moondancer, Cotton Candy, Bowtie, Alternate Bowtie, Suntie or Windy with purple hair

Dutch : I like Seashell and Heart, so I would be happy to have either one in my collection

Spain : any Piggy pony in good shape

Scandinavia : Alternate birthflower February

Brazil : Sitting Bowtie

Japan : I certainly can't afford a Takara but I will never say never :) A fakie baby would do for the time being

Countries that I'm not interested in collecting

Thailand
India

I'm not actively buying right now but if you have something that's on my list, you can drop me a pm and let me know, but don't be insulted if I have to pass up the offer. I will most likely be allowed one big purchase around my anniversary (October), Christmas and my birthday (February).

Pony Corral / Huffington post article on a pony collector
« on: March 24, 2012, 09:30:21 AM »
Hi,

I'm sorry if this has been posted before but I scanned the first three pages of posts in the Corral and didn't find anything about it. A friend of mine sent me this article because she knows that I collect ponies. And I'm pretty sure I recognize the collector in the pictures but I would love to know her Arena name if she's registered here.

Anyways, huge congrats to Sarah for your collection and for being featured in an article!

I just wanted to let everyone know that I've finally completed my Heart Throb variant collection. Here's the link to the post I made in the Brag forum:

Thank you to everyone who helped me achieve this goal and a very special thank you to angelponies who's responsible for the completion.

As some of you may know, I've been trying to complete a Heart Throb variant collection for a couple of years now. For the past year, the only one I was missing was Argentina Heart Throb with green hair and I just couldn't seem to find one in good enough condition for my taste (and I'm not even that picky). And when one finally did come up for sale recently, I bid way more than I knew she was worth but still lost the auction   However, the person who won decided that she wanted me to have her and was kind enough to sell her to me for the price that she had bid. So here are her before and after pictures, as well as a picture of my completed Heart Throb variant collection (with a few customs thrown in):

And here's another recent acquisition. Baby squirmy was a small grail of mine and after losing a couple of auctions, I finally ended up getting her for a good price. However, the seller had not described all of her flaws (pretty much lied about them) so she wasn't in the best shape (tail rust, frizzy hair, etc.). I was able to get her cleaned up and after taking this picture, I straightened her hair with a flat iron. I'm pretty happy with the result and I'm very excited to finally have her in my collection.

Finally, after completing my Heart Throb collection, I decided to concentrate on another collecting goal, which is to have at least one pony from each country that they were made in. So here's my first peruvian pony, Baby Medley. She is super cute. In the second picture, she's with her Mexican mommy (a previous brag).

MLP Nirvana / Boo, I lost, need hugs :( Last update!
« on: February 07, 2012, 04:51:58 PM »
I was bidding on that beautiful green-haired Heart Throb on ebay and she went up 35 dollars in the last 10 seconds :( I had bid a max of 167$ or something like that and really felt that I was going too high. I never thought that I would lose her at that price but it looks like she suddenly gained in popularity. Oh well, better luck next time. Still, I need some pony hugs   Congrats to the lucky winner and thank you to everyone who PMed me over the last few days to let me know that she was for sale!

Update:

In an unexpected turn of events, I got two messages today through ebay telling me that the seller was giving me a second chance offer to buy the pony for my maximum bid and the reason wasn't clear but it sounded like the seller was saying that the original winner "wanted me to have it" (odd, to say the least). I was at my son's school when I saw the messages on my phone so I couldn't answer right away. When I came home, I read the messages again, made sure that they were really from ebay and then sent the seller a short message asking for more details and told her that I needed a couple of hours to think about it (needed to talk to the hubby and I wanted some advice from somebody here that I trust). Anyways, the offer is good until February 12th so I had plenty of time to decide but still wanted to be polite and let the seller know that I had seen the messages. So after talking to my husband and exchanging messages with somebody here and after getting the kids to bed, I was just about ready to go back to ebay to look at the offer again and that's when I found another message from the seller saying that the original winner had changed their mind AGAIN and that she's very sorry but she only has the one pony to sell! Gah!!!!  >_<  Is this even permitted by ebay? There's still a formal second chance offer with a BIN in my ebay account that I could just click! From what I understand, the first person had to give up on the item in order for the seller to make the offer in the first place... Anyways, I feel like I'm being taken on a roller-coaster ride and that's exactly what I politely told the seller in respone to her last message... Sorry this was so long and thank you for reading. I'm just a little bit frustrated and confused at the moment

Another update:

The winner of the auction contacted me (yes, she happens to be a member here). It seems that the whole thing was a big misunderstanding. When she won, she came here to brag and saw my Boo hoo post (so sorry, I never meant to make the winner feel like they couldn't brag about their win - I just wanted to let people know what happened since so many people had PMed me during the auction to let me know about it!). Anyways, she felt bad for me, wrote to the seller that she wanted me to have it and that she would cover the slight difference in price and then the seller sent me the second chance offer. When I wrote to the seller to say that I was thinking about it and that I would write again in a couple of hours, she either misunderstood or panicked and told the winner that I wasn't going to accept the offer. So the winner said that she would take it and paid for it (still not sure how that part works with ebay since there was a formal offer on my account but I'm not that familiar with ebay policies). So there, that's the end of the story!

Pony Brag Arena / My very first RAOPK ever! And it happened to arrive...
« on: February 05, 2012, 07:43:06 PM »
... on my birthday!!!

Friday February 3rd was mine and my 4 year old daughter's birthday (yes, she was actually born on my birthday!). I left work right after my morning class (I'm a college teacher so I have a weird schedule) to go pick up my daughter at daycare because I had promised to take her to get her ears pierced as one of her presents. I decided to stop by my house first and drove by the mailbox on the way. That's when I found an unexpected package from California. The only thing I had bought recently was a MOC G2 and it was way too early for that one to arrive and the way the postman had jammed the envelope into my small box, I was really hoping that it wasn't that! Anyways, when I came home, I tore into the envelope, dying to see what was inside. And that's when I found 3 G2s that I didn't have yet (a yellow one with a large pink balloon as a symbol and a white wedding themed one, as well as a McDonald's G2 - I will check their names in my collector's inventory as soon as I have a moment). By then, I was pretty sure that what I got was a RAOPK. There was a letter inside the package and it was signed so I was glad to be able to thank the generous sender!

So thanks again to the lovely relcelestia who saw my post for a G2 starter lot and who was sweet enough to send me these as a gift. And what an amazing coincidence that they happened to arrive on my birthday! I will add pictures later but for now, I really wanted to post this ASAP so that I could thank relcelestia for her generosity once again

Pony Corral / My plan backfired...
« on: February 03, 2012, 06:02:20 PM »
My 4 year-old daughter and I share the same birthday (which happens to be today). I had been wanting the Target exclusive set with the small Princess Luna for a while and decided that I would buy it online and that I would give it to my daughter on our birthday, along with her other presents, but that I would tell her that one of the ponies in the package would be for me and that the other one would be for her. I thought that I knew my daughter well and was convinced that she would choose Princess Celestia because she's pink, she's quite a bit bigger and she just looks more like a Princess with her tall skinny legs and her large glass-like wings. Imagine my shock when she opened the package and without hesitation, she chose... Luna   I tried as best as I could to convince her that Celestia was better, that she was the "good Princess", that she was prettier and blah, blah, blah. She just wouldn't budge. She says that she likes Luna because she's "sparkly". Now she's going up to bed with Luna, with her hair and tinsel all messy and she put "my" Celestia down next to my computer. *sigh*

Introductions / It's me, sillymoosey at the new Arena!
« on: January 15, 2012, 12:21:10 PM »
I see that some old members are making new Introductions threads so I will join in since I haven't introduced myself since 2005

I spend a lot of time at the Arena, I like all generations but my main focus right now is G1s (mostly Nirvanas) and G2s (after I bought the Collector's Guide, I fell in love with these silly girls!). For the G3s, I only try to get the exclusives (ex. Comic Con, Fair ponies, etc.) and I can't resist picking up a few G4s at the store, for me or my kids. I started collecting in 2005 when I found out about ebay and my first goal was to rebuild my beloved childhood collection. Needless to say I went way beyond that when I found out about all of the cool ponies that I didn't know existed as a kid

Besides spending time at the Arena, I'm also a wife and mother of three (boy age 6, girl age 4 and girl age 1) who works as a college biology teacher.

Well, that's it for me! See you around the forums. I spend most of my time in the Nirvana, Brags and Customs forums and I drop by the What's Your Problem forum to try and give advice to those who want it...

Pony Brag Arena / G2 and Nirvana brags
« on: January 15, 2012, 06:37:19 AM »
I already posted about these on the MLPArena facebook page because I just couldn't wait anymore (they just HAD to arrive while the Arena was down, lol!). So I'm not too sure if it's OK to post about them again now that the Arena is back...

Anyways, one of my Christmas presents to myself was the G2 collector's guide. I didn't really like G2s but I figured that it would be good to know more about them so that I wouldn't pass up any rare ones if I found them at garage sales or at the flea market. But of course, as I was reading the book and seeing all the colourful pictures, they started to grow on me and I started wanting some (mostly the ones that weren't available in North America). I posted a Wanted ad at the Arena but nobody answered in the first week so I turned to ebay. Here's what I received so far:

The babies are cuter than I ever imagined! Oh, and also pictured is my new Mexican Medley with rainbow hair. One of my collecting goals this year is to get a Nirvana pony from every country that they were made in and I was dreading the Mexicans because they're usually in bad shape. So when I saw this one for sale, I just had to buy her!

Thanks for looking!
