The Dollhouse / Please help identify life size doll
« on: March 12, 2020, 04:31:01 AM »
Hello, everyone! I saw this girl on a photo of a thrift shop and fell in love. But I don't even know what brand she is. She doesn't look like any doll I saw but still oddly familiar. She's about 25-30" I think and that is definitely not her original outfit. The person who took the photo said she was fully posable.

Pony Corral / Crazy things about G4s
« on: July 13, 2018, 04:21:31 PM »
Hello again. All the time I was away I've been researching G4 really carefully since most things about previous gens are already known or impossible to find out about, but G4 is here to explore which I'm happy to do. This post will be about restoration, accessories and other things. I want to have my own topic to update it once in a while. To me this is a pretty important info.

First thing I found out the hard way is that you don't sunfade G4s unless they're white. Sunfading absolutely doesn't work on G4s and ruins them. Sun literally kills their color no matter what color it is. I can attach photos now so you just have to believe me or share your experience. I tried to sunfade G4 Cupcake (Sugarcup) in peroxide. I detached her head and tail so they won't be damaged, her neck had really bad orange marks from some accessory. The mark is still there but half of my Cupcake is almost white. My second try was a small spot on Skywishes' leg. Now she's got a small spot and a big white spot. Ugh.

Second thing I found out is that crazy bleach + vinegar thing works really nice. It doesn't leave stains, it doesn't burn color unless you hold it too much and it doesn't ruin your pony years after. My friend did it five years ago and her pony is still great. Yeah, the acid you get mixing vinegar and bleach is super toxic, but I use a gas mask and electrical gloves. The bad thing is that mix releases toxic gas which can damage the pony too, so everything except the spot must be covered in layers of plastic package and attached to the pony with duct tape.

Third thing is toothpaste. It works really nice against yellowing, but ruins some prints. Sure, my Rarity has pretty pink eyes now, but that's not what I wanted. Toothpaste works for a really short period of time so just wash the pony after an hour and apply it again. Leaving the toothpaste on pony may damage the vinyl and turn it really solid. Use nice expensive whitening toothpaste, better get it at the pharmacy store.

Most and really interesting thing I found out is the fourth thing. I'm making a list of all G4 accessories that ever existed sorted by year and playset. Please tell me if something like this already exists and I will just help the person making it. All of you probably know the same accessory in the same playset may vary in color. Let's take Applejack Fashion Style 2010 for example. She has an apple barrette, a flower barrette and a medal barrette. All the accessories Hasbro put in their boxes must be different color, like this: green apple, red medal, purple flower. Every one of those accessories exists in those colors other accessories are. It means three colors multiplied by three different barrettes means there are nine defferent barrettes from Applejack Fashion Style set in existence.

Some not-so-important things. Many G4.5 loose their hair worse than a fakie. Cover the inside of their head with tons of glue before brushing. Can you detach pearly mermaid heads? I tried but I'm afraid to ruin it. All of them have that terrible nylon. It's easily fixed with hair straightener. 100-110C + hair gel and it gets really silky.

If you have read all that you're great! Have a nice day!
What I ask of you if you're a huge G4 collector with many accessories and ponies (MIP or loose) please PM me. I need clear pictures and help with some things. Like, does anyone has pictures of 2010 Applejack, Rainbow Dash and Twilight Sparkle singles without forelock? I need nice pictures of newer accessories since MyLittleWiki doesn't have them. I'm not even talking about G4.5. I mean there is a generation of ponies here to explore and I don't see this kind of information anywhere. It really upsets me that things just disappear and no one knows anything about them. It was harder to explore G1 because there was no Internet but come on, we have to know everything about generations that haven't passed yet.

Pony Corral / PC G2 Giggle Garden Nursery
« on: January 13, 2018, 03:28:39 PM »
Tight on money (as always) so I think I'll sell my Giggle Garden Nursery. It's complete without the box, almost perfect condition with some yellowing and two slightly damaged stickers. The accessories colors are different from wiki pictures tho. I got yellow teddy bear, pink ducks and dark purple clown. I wanna know the price for full playset and for a playset that lacks a pony. I really don't wanna part with adorable baby Flitter...  Also checking for interest because I haven't seen a complete non-MIP set on eBay.

Pony Corral / Now I'm sad
« on: August 03, 2017, 09:15:56 AM »
Have you ever received a pony you wanted a lot in so poor condition you won't accept them to your collection? I just did. Wow, it hurts.
I always wanted G4 Cadance from the playset. I got one for free from a person who gives me their baits as gifts for buying other stuff. I needed Cadance for custom. So I got her. Frizzy hair, one wing, scratches on eyes and body, head whitened from sun exposure... Perfect for custom. Bad for my mental health  :lookround: I can restore her, I can sculpt her a new wing but I'm picky and I can't accept her. Poor thing.

She's gonna be a great Flurry tho  ;)

Pony Corral / Even more broken things
« on: August 01, 2017, 01:12:48 AM »
1. I got a really loved (or hated...) Fluttershy who's neck plug broke while I was washing her. Is there any way to get half of the plug out of her head without damaging the head? I don't really care for that half, I wouldn't mind if it got destroyed in the process.
2. How do I put the tail back in without making the tail hole bigger? I guessed if it came out it can come back in. Maybe I should glue the tail together with safe glue and than just wash it away?

Can't take pictures rn but she's in perfect condition. I'm in extreme need of money so I think I'll have to sell her.
Also can anyone suggest who can be a yellow pegasus pony with pink tail and pink first stripe in mane? I saw her in a bunch of other ponies and if she's rare I wanna buy her to sell her since I'm in a huge debt...

Pony Corral / Restoration questions... again
« on: July 02, 2017, 11:45:17 AM »
1. Is there a way to wash off nail polisher without damaging factory paint? Vinegar + lemon, vinegar + baking soda and hot water didn't help. Please don't suggest rubbing alcohol coz it's banned here and it's super hard to get.
2. Is there a way to clean dirt without damaging gradient on G3s? I've tried magic eraser and it damages paint. It's not so bad since I was scrubbing near a huge hole in paint anyway.
3. Remember how you can use hand cream while straightening pony hair with curling iron? Somehow it makes G1, G3 and early G4 hair even more frizzy and dull. Is this because my iron has ceramic surface? It works great with latest G4 tails that get super frizzy right out of the box, it makes them even nicer than older hair.
4. I can guess it's not safe to defrizz color changing hair? It didn't change color already when I got the pony so I straightened it. It's better off straight and not working than frizzy and not working :/ But if I ever get a changing hair color pony should I use heat on her?

And the last question which doesn't have anything to do with restoration. I've seen most of you guys don't have glassed shelves. Don't you have a problem with dust? If your ponies get dusty do you wash them? I guess using a small vacuum cleaner would still damage their hair. I'm getting a bookshelf with doors made of transparent plastic. Plastic is cheaper, less heavy, harder to break and easier to clean.

Customs / N00b questions
« on: June 28, 2017, 06:12:37 PM »
What brand of hair looks and feels exactly as G4 hair? I want to make my OCs look like they're factory made :) I would love to know what shop sends samples (I have a friend in USA who can get them for me so don't mind my location).
I also need to know what colors do I use to rehair baity G4s. Is there a list of preferred colors?
Can we dye nylon hair? Would it wash away if used many times under water? What brand of dye do you suggest to dye body and what kind suits for hair?
Are there half transparent hair? Hair that changes color? Neon hair? Where can I get them?

I'm sorry if those questions have been answered before it's kind of hard to read tons of text in English for me :(

Price Check Archives / PC on G3 and G3.5 MIPs
« on: June 28, 2017, 05:53:03 PM »
I found these at a local store! I'm not a MIP collector so I'd like to sell them. How much do you think they're worth? I'm mostly interested getting a pc on Lily in French packaging. I've never seen one before.

For Sale - For Auction / G4 stuff
« on: June 28, 2017, 05:51:50 PM »
I have a lot of G4 things in Russian some of you would consider trash but I actually value it  :P Can't make myself throw it away so maybe someone needs it. Prices are in every picture's title.
http://sta.sh/27snoldt3am
There are some non pony things in there. I was too lazy to price them since no one is interested anyway. Feel free to ask.
I ship to everywhere and it's actually not super expensive. It's usually 9$.
I would trade this junk for some super common ponies of any generation with uncut hair, everything else doesn't matter. I have a friend in USA whom you can ship them to.

Pony Brag Arena / My first G1 ponies!
« on: April 15, 2017, 05:53:57 PM »
It's great luck to find G1 ponies in Russia, but one of them was also a boy pony! And (I can't believe my luck) I also got my favorite G1 pony - Lemon Drop! I'm super happy
That's how they looked when they arrived (I couldn't wait so I just started cleaning them and then I was like "Oooooh, I forgot to take pictures!". So they're in a process of taking a bath :))

Even tho Lemon Drop has a hair cut and they both have paint rubs I love them very much. Also, they're huge! Even my G3s are smaller.

Is there a magazine like this in English?

Pony Corral / Weird restoration methods I've overheard
« on: March 28, 2017, 04:24:38 AM »
So I've been talking a lot to little girls who collect G4 MLP in Russia and I've heard about some weird restoration ideas from them. I'd like to know if it's safe both for humans and ponies.
First method was to clean a pony with a toothpaste that has whitening effect. It only works on yellowing and maybe small dirt. I've tried this on my bait g4 blindbags and it works magic! Can I do this on ponies from other generations? Does it work on them?
The second method was a mix of bleach and vinegar. I'm pretty sure it's VERY poisonous to touch, breath and be generally exposed to. That's why they all wore some sort of masks and gloves. One girl cleaned a Rainbow Dash with terrible sharpie marks. It looked even better than out of box when she finished. She said it removes paint so be careful. How safe is this method for ponies? Since it's obviously very dangerous for people I bet it can damage ponies as well. I can't try it on bait g1s since I've yet to see one in my city.

« on: January 14, 2017, 02:48:15 AM »
My friend from Riga gave me a link to some ponies and I can't find who they are
Is this a regular Pinwheel or some variant?
