Pony Corral / Disassemble Waterfall cloud
« on: August 04, 2019, 07:15:15 AM »
I picked up the Waterfall playset, and tried to remove the "showerhead" cloud for easier cleaning. It wouldn't really budge and I don't want to just bruteforce pull on it as I am scared I might break off something. Can anyone tell me if it is even possible to remove it once it has been fully assembled, and if so, what to keep in mind while doing so? Thanks!  :)

Pony Corral / Is that regrind on my Galaxy?

That's regrind, isn't it? So that means I can do nothing about it, right?

Wanted! / Horror hair G1
« on: May 18, 2019, 08:02:12 AM »
Looking for G1 with horror hair! Body at least good condition, hair uncut, but a mess - tangles, frizz to a felt mat, stuff stuck in it, all is welcome. Throw your hairy pony problems at me!
Located in Germany, preferably EU sellers.

Wanted! / G1 Minty CF
« on: May 08, 2019, 01:49:37 AM »
I am looking for a rather basic pony, but to my utter surprise, I haven't seen her at all on eBay or Insta, so I am trying my luck here. I see lots of Snuzzles, Cotton Candy, Blossoms and have an army of Peachys myself, but what I am looking for is: a regular Concave Feet Minty in as good condition as possible (not MOC, I most likely won't be able to afford that). No mane cuts (tail is ok), pen marks (except on the underside of the hooves) or other easily visible spots, please.

I would prefer offers from Europe, ideally Germany, but am willing to buy from the US, as long as the total price including shipping does not exceed 22 Euros so I don't have to pay import taxes on top of it. I prefer PayPal and registered shipping with a tracking number.

---
Also interested in, but not actively looking for, are all other more exotic/nirvana variants of Minty (except: 25 + 35 years anniversaries, FF, Macau Minty), so if you have anything to offer, please let me know - depending on the price, I might be up for it!

Edit - stupid me mixed up Collector's Pose with Concave Feet. Of course I know the difference, doh. Corrected that now :)

Pony Corral / Advice needed: How to remove these marker stains?
« on: April 08, 2019, 02:08:19 AM »
Hey all,

I need the advice of more experienced collectors and restorers on how to tackle pen marks on a Italian Skyflier. I have tried so far:
- dish soap bath
- magic eraser
- oxy bath
- attacking the marks with pure acetone.

The only difference I could make was with the acetone, however, it seems to take off some of her colour as well and I now have faded marks that are in a faded area... which isn't really what I was going for. She is badly faded already anyways, but the lighter spots don't really add any beauty.
I looked up if she is safe for sunfading, and sure enough, she popped up in the respective thread to not be safe to be sunfaded, so that is not an option. When I asked for advice on Insta, I got both the advice to try a peroxide bath, and to not try a peroxide bath so I am none the wiser now. I was also informed that Remove-Zit, which I had as 'secret weapon' in the back of my mind is not a good idea and should not be tried.

So, what do with that poor pony? Are there even any options left, or should I just toss her in the bag for non-salvageable ponies that I might or might not try my hands on repainting with?

Here are some pictures:

The ear actually worked comparably well, but you can see a lighter spot there too, it is just not that obvious:

This here shows the faded spots around the faded marks pretty well. It took me around 4 hours to get to that result:

Trader & Shipping Support / Ebay payment troubles
« on: March 27, 2019, 07:05:27 AM »
I've just been on a half an hour phone call with eBay's customer support without avail, so I am asking here, maybe someone has an idea:

On Monday evening, I tried to buy two ponies from an US seller via "Buy it now". When I went to checkout and picked PayPal like always, it returned an error and told me to use a different method. I had two others available (direct transfer and CC), but neither of these work, I always get "Sorry, this payment option isn't available. Here are your options: Select a different payment option. Contact PayPal customer service to resolve this issue."

In a nutshell, Customer support has no idea why it doesn't work, and the only advice they had was to tell me to contact the seller directly, ask for their paypal, and then do a paypal transaction directly from paypal. I've tried a different browser, the phone app, my partner's paypal account, my partner's credit card, buying the articles via ebay.at and ebay.co.uk - nothing works. eBay's support said that this error message cannot be circumvented by paypal itself either, so it's no use to contact them about it.

Has anyone else ever experienced this and found a way to resolve it? I've given up now and with lots of remorse removed the articles from my cart. They are still available on the seller's page so they haven't been sold yet. I'm a bit heartbroken because I really, really wanted one of those two ponies and I haven't had lots of luck with ebay or seller groups lately, no one seems to offer ponies I want in decent condition :(

Introductions / Active again!
« on: March 05, 2019, 09:29:07 AM »
Hey everyone!

I am back in the collector's business after a few years of hiatus and thought I'd make a new introduction posting! This is my original introduction thread.

Since I returned only recently, I have only added a few new members to the herd. I found out about the 35 years anniversary ponies, and of course I need all of them! So far, I was able to obtain a few of them:

Other than that, I have been trying my hands at rerooting for the very first time, and the result actually looks decent, so once the proper tool and all the hair I ordered arrives, I'll have a loooooot to do here! Unfortunately, I still haven't been able to find any of my original ponies out there, but you never know. Maybe one day I'll find my initials under the hoofs of a pony! I'm still planning on rebuilding my original collection.
My tumblr has retired during my absence, but I made an Instagram account for my pony things when I became active again.

As for the personal bits of information in my original introduction posting - I'm no longer in my 30s  but I feel much better since I changed my diet and started to go running regularly. The bunnies have hopped over the rainbow bridge, but we have a fluffy landcloud dog now! No resin casting anymore, but I am still on the same job and also kept the partner. Not married yet (still not!), but it is finally on the plan for this year.

Still probably being more of a lurker (I'll never make it into the Wine Cellar! :D ) but maybe I can add something from time to time. :)

Pony Corral / How to de-frizz pony hair - made my first video tutorial
« on: March 28, 2016, 12:36:21 PM »
Some time ago I promised to make a video on how I de-frizz pony hair with a flat iron. It took me a while, mainly because I was lacking a decent camera (bought one just for this video, oh my), but I've finally come around now and am very proud to present it to all of you!

Please let me know if you notice anything I could do better. I hope it helps and explains how I treat pony hair!

You can find the video here: https://youtu.be/UNaGuPRXiE4

Thanks everyone who watches it, I hope you enjoy it!

Pony Corral / How to get rid of pen marks?
« on: March 03, 2016, 03:56:06 AM »
Heya,

I have a couple of ponies with pen marks, and so far I haven't got the hang of removing them yet. I must be doing something wrong as I got the impression that it is totally easy for everyone except me to get them off a pony, haha :)

What I have tried so far:

Magic Eraser
Nail polish remover with acetone
Sunfading for a month
Peroxide bath, 3 days

And the result of all this...

What am I doing wrong? :(

Pony Corral / Help needed identifying accessories
« on: February 25, 2016, 05:29:06 AM »
Heyo,

I have acquired a small lot of accessories, and some of the pieces do not seem to be MLP to me. Can anyone help me out?

This is an overview of the things I suspect not to be MLP (minus the hat in the upper left corner that sneaked into the picture):

Here is a close up of some of the smaller things (disregard the stuff in the background please):

There were also two ribbons I am unsure about - the one on top is an original one for comparison:

Pony Corral / Pony with a surprise
« on: February 04, 2016, 04:31:14 PM »
So tonight I thought I’d take a look at some of my childhood ponies again. I removed the head from Melody to check if there was any rust inside. It was already lose, which didn't surprise me, as I had decapitated all ponies I could as a child, so that I was able to position their heads when I played with them. To my surprise, I found something sticking out of the head. Unfortunately, it wasn’t any bank notes, but as it seems, little me really wanted to make sure that I am able to proof ownership of my ponies, as I found a note with my name and address at that time on it. Even more so, said note was not a simple paper note, but I went all the way and scribbled on a piece of plastic, with a permanent marker, to make sure the note survived getting wet (yay for bath toy ponies!). I even wrote the country in English instead of my native tongue! I found another one in Sundance. Maybe I had these two with me during holidays somewhere, and I wanted to be prepared for international emergencies as well.

Maybe someone else finds something in their childhood ponies as well, so check your sweeties!

Pony Corral / A way to clean yellowed playset plastic?
« on: February 01, 2016, 08:57:36 AM »
Heya,

sorry I am making another thread, I warned you that this would happen :)

I still have my old Baby Buggy. It has spend all its life except for the last six months when I took it from my parent's house in a home with smokers, and you can tell easily:

So far, I have tried soap, Magic Eraser, a pimple cream with some bleaching stuff in it (I don't remember how it is called, but I am sure you all know what kind of cream I am talking about here), to no avail, which is why I ask for the advice of the experienced collectors.

What do? :(

Pony Corral / What's the deal with Peachy?
« on: January 31, 2016, 07:51:58 AM »
Sorry, another thread from me as I ran into another thing while organising. I have the beginnings of a Peachy army (unplanned, but she is a cute pony so things could be worse!) and some Peachys are different from the others.

Here are all my five Peachys at once:
visitors can't see pics , please register or login

The two to the left have different symbols than the other three. Their symbols look "pinker". The one on the very left is my childhood Peachy, it's the Macau version. The one next to it is a regular HK version

It gets more obvious if you directly compare the symbols:

Are the different symbol variants something important?

Pony Corral / Who is this Baby?
« on: January 31, 2016, 06:02:09 AM »
I've started organising my collection (fancy expression for "making an Excel chart", haha) and couldn't find this little girl either on the Wiki, nor on Strawberryreef. She is obviously a baby version of buttons. Anyone knows her name?

Last Sunday, I made my first ever trade on FB from a person who posted in one of the collector's group. I only recently joined them, so I don't have much experience (actually, I have none!). Things aren't going completely smooth so I now worry if I made a mistake here, or if I am simply being paranoid, so I am asking the Arena about your opinions on it. I'll try to keep the description of the events as neutral as possible, as I honestly don't know if I am overreacting or not and I don't want to call anyone out in case I do.

I contacted the seller via PN, we agreed on the price for the ponies and shipment, and I paid the minute after I got the seller's paypal.me link. I was promised to receive the tracking number on Monday or Tuesday.
By Wednesday, I hadn't heard anything from the seller so I asked for the number. I was informed that the seller wasn't feeling well, illnesses had flared up, but it should go out on Thursday and I will get the tracking number then. Come Thursday evening (night rather), but no tracking number, no information from the seller on why there is no number. I contact them again and ask for the number, and the seller replies that they are doing the best they can, and I really shouldn't ask for a tracking number every day, they will give it to me as soon as they have it. I apologised and informed them that I am simply nervous due to bad experiences, so not receiving a tracking number that I was told to get at a certain time is a bit unsettling. The seller was understanding, and assured me that they have a lot of feedback, customers are always happy despite their illness.

Now it's Saturday morning, I still haven't heard a word, and I try not to, but I am getting really worried. Am I just seeing shadows on the wall again and need more routine in buying stuff on Facebook? What would you do?
