Another pony finished already, what is this sorcery?!

Seriously for someone who procrastinates as much as I do, must be a blue moon or have something to do with half of Australia being in lockdown  but this little Raspberry Pony is finished and ready to go off to her new home!

Customs / Sun and Moon Ponies

I'm probably one of the slowest customisers ever, has taken me all year to finish these ladies

But they are finally completed!! Sun and Moon ponies, both were originally Retro Releases picked up for cheap at Aldi, they were rehaired with a variety of different shades. Sculpted additions from polymer clay with mica powder, varnished. Eyes were hand-painted, not my best work but being almost 12 months out of practice they will suffice, lol. Need to improve my pony photography skills next!!

Customs / Hunger Games - Mockingjay custom pony
« on: May 24, 2020, 09:42:56 PM »
First paid commission pony is finally complete!! I take long enough to complete a standard custom - creating a commission apparently takes me at least 12 weeks, gah.

I was given the vague idea of a Hunger Games custom with a forest theme and features the Mockingjay symbol from the Hunger Games series and this is end result...

This G1 bride pony was rehaired in numerous shades of greens and browns, her hair was curled and styled. Eyes hand painted and varnished. Mockingjay symbol, trees and leaves sculpted from polymer clay, dusted with mica powder and varnished. Hope the customer is happy with her!

My latest project was supposed to be quick and easy yet somehow still took 8 weeks to finish!!

Both ponies were rehaired in various shades of Dolly Hair - I'm thinking of curling the manes still, not sure? Anyway, the back legs were chopped off lol and tails were sculpted from polymer clay, with a wire frame. I tried new methods of sculpting scales, personally I'm not a fan of the blue tail but the damn things take so long to sculpt that I'm not re-doing it

Eyes were repainted, as were ears and hooves and the purple pony has a new ear sculpted from polymer clay. Hope you guys like them! Feel free to make hair style suggestions!

Customs / Mushroom Pony!!
« on: November 20, 2019, 02:09:49 AM »
My mushroom inspired custom was originally a grubby and miserable looking Butterscotch...

She's been rehaired with about 6 different shades of nylon Dolly hair. Her eyes were painted, hair curled and styled, and the branches, fungus-type stuff and mushrooms sculpted from polymer clay.

Turns out that sculpting tiny polypore fungus is next to impossible and that's where my whole idea started, so she didn't turn out like I'd pictured in my head.. Enough fragile and minuscule sculpting for me for a while!! Hope she likes the makeover

Customs / Custom pricing question - and another completed custom!
« on: October 06, 2019, 10:29:34 PM »
Hey everyone!

I've received a few enquiries recently asking how much I will sell my custom for and I'm really struggling with deciding on how much to charge. I'm wondering how you lovely customisers calculate how much to charge for your work? I find myself feeling guilty for asking for 'too much' but considering the 40 - 60 hours that goes into making them it's difficult to part with them!!

In other news I've finally finished my Cherry Blossom custom! She came to me as a baity Snowflake, with some serious dark cancer on one leg and rump - I really need to start taking 'before' photos of my ponies! Polymer clay tree and flowers were hand sculpted to cover all cancer spots. Pink has always been my least favourite to work with and I'm happy she's finally finished!

Customs / Latest custom!
« on: August 28, 2019, 10:26:58 PM »
I'm relieved that this lady is finally finished!

I started this custom with no real plan in mind and it was a struggle to get through. Add-ons were sculpted with polymer clay and the eyes were re-painted. The mane is a nightmare, I stupidly stuffed way too much hair in there and most of the hair plugs split open  Such a rookie mistake! The weird looking headpiece was a last minute addition to cover a split in her poor head!

Finally finished another project after my ponies have been stuffed in storage for literally three years - excuse me while I do some gloating! Blue pony was completed years ago, her purple friend has just been completed and both ladies are in need of a new home!

Customs / Clay baking re-haired ponies?!
« on: July 30, 2019, 10:33:48 PM »
Hey hey everyone!

A question for anyone out there who customises MLP with polymer clay - hoping to get some information! I work a lot with polymer clay when customising, preferably sculpting straight onto the pony. I have been using hair from Dolly Hair and am wondering how the hair will withstand low temperatures in an oven (130c)...

I've trialled with a few strands and noticed no changes but am nervous about doing an entire re-hair, may need to tie/cover the hair when baking to prevent the hair from touching the metal oven tray etc. I've seen a few images of haired ponies being baked and the hair iis covered in something - baking paper maybe?

Anyway grasping at straws here and just super hopeful that someone has a tried and true method of baking a pony and protecting the hair from heat damage! Apologies if this has issue already been covered too...

Thanks!!

Introductions / Hello from a custom creator
« on: July 20, 2015, 11:30:03 PM »
Hi to whoever is reading this!

I'm writing to introduce myself, I understand I have to do that before being able to view other threads. Anyways, I'm writing from Australia, I joined this forum as I've been customising G1 My Little Ponies for some time now and would like to chat with other customisers, check out what's for sale here and possibly sell some of my work.

So, howdy! Cheers,
Blackness.
