Off Topic / [Pokemon] Does anyone want my event Blaziken?
« on: June 20, 2016, 08:16:35 PM »
I want to restart my Pokemon Y game. Have the event Blaziken from the game's release. (distributed as a Torchic, has Speed Boost ability, Blazikenite. Currently lvl 50.) I don't particularly want it. Can't trade on GTS, can't wonder trade it, but it would be a shame to just delete it.

I don't want anything special in exchange, just like a zigzagoon or something I could delete guilt-free.

First come first serve if anyone is interested. Shoot me a PM; we can exchange friend codes and try to schedule a time to trade. (I'm in the US, Eastern time zone, fyi.) Also, I've never traded a Pokemon this way before. I mean, I'm sure it's not hard, but you might have to bear with me.  :P

Please help me give my fire chicken a new home. :> Bwak bwak

Pony Corral / How did G3 scented ponies work?
« on: May 22, 2016, 01:27:17 PM »
Examining my I-swear-I'm-gonna-do-it-eventually For Sale ponies for flaws.

I'm noticed what I thought was a shiny neck-glue smear on Party Cake, but it turns out Pretty Pop has it too in almost the exact same shape. It's subtle, shiny, starts small on the pony's back, and kind of widens as it goes, like a loud sound wave, stopping above pony's shoulder.

Is this where they applied the scent, do you think? It is where they smells strongest.

Pony Corral / Pony collector mentioned in Ripley's Believe it or Not
« on: January 26, 2016, 01:30:20 PM »
Ponies appeared in the Sunday funnies again! Last time it was a child's drawing of Applejack featured in Slylock Fox. This time, a collector named Ian from Derbyshire was featured in Ripley's Believe it or Not! (along with some BaB ponies) for how much money he spent in five years on his collection. Anyone we know?  ;)

And if so, how did you do it?

I have not yet tried extensive heat from a hair dryer. I tried it for a quick session, but got bored quickly, realizing I'd have to commit more time to that method. Since I know it will take a long time, I though I'd ask if this actually works before I try it myself.

I've tried using particularly sticky tape to physically pull the plastic back into shape, no success.

I have misgivings, of course, but I'm excited. :) If this works out, and it still has the original charm and quality, I'm going to be over the moon, head exploding from happiness.

Customs / How does reposing a toy work? What's the process?
« on: November 08, 2015, 12:08:18 PM »
How does one repose a pony, or another toy? I'm asking mostly out of curiosity, although if it isn't too hard, I'm thinking of reposing a Skylanders toy. Google had been weirdly un-helpful, offering only finished results and not much in the way of How-To guides. I do know it involves getting the toy really hot!

Off Topic / What are your favorite mind games?

As in games that you play in your mind, not ways to manipulate people. :P

I need ways to occupy myself during my mindless job.

As a seller, do I need to link my bank account to Paypal to accept payments?

I've been gleaning what I can from PayPal's site and Googleing the question. Here's as far as I can figure out:

-When someone pays you through PayPal, the money goes into your PayPal Balance.
-This money can be either transferred to your bank account, or it can float there in your PayPal account and be used for online purchases.
-Obviously you can't take the money out of PayPal unless you connect some kind of bank account to your PayPal account.

Is this a correct assessment? What it comes down to is, I don't want to connect Paypal to my "real" money - my financial adviser (actually my Mom  ) says I should absolutely not connect a bank account to Paypal. However, she has never sold anything. Also, when Googling my question, I've found answers from several people saying "Don't do it, PayPal will steal from you," but they seem to have come from people who were bad sellers anyway. But I have my reservations anyway, since it's an era of hacking anyway and... when you get down to it I just don't want to do it, no matter how safe PayPal probably is.

I guess really my question now is, is it okay to just have money in your PayPal balance and just use that for online purchases? Are there secret fees for keeping money there and using it?

I have and will be basically using this account solely for buying and selling ponies here at the Arena, probably someday eBay if I get an account there (and if I did, it would be as a buyer only, it sounds nightmarish to sell there.) I'm wondering if I ought to just stick with trading; if I don't trust PayPal, maybe selling isn't right for me?

If you do answer, please feel free to explain things to me as if I am a child. :) I can be nervous about monetary stuff, and want to make sure I understand everything clearly.

Pony Corral / Danger - blue painter's tape
« on: August 07, 2014, 05:58:45 PM »
That's it. I am so done with pony restoration. It seems like every time I attempt something other than a cleaning I end up having to write a "what not to do" thread.  -_-

So basically, I was sunfading white ponies using blue painter's tape to protect the bodies and symbols. The tape left pale purple marks all over them, which I was not expecting because, you know, it's painter's tape. But I was foolish to assume it would work the same way on plastic as it does on walls. Maybe it left marks because it got too hot in the sun, or maybe because it was left untouched for several months. Not sure. Whatever caused it, I recommend not using it.

So now I have a (G3) August Gladiolus who got the worst of the lavender plague, and a Birthday Pony with it in places, too. Magic Eraser is doing basically nothing.

Perhaps the purple marks can be... sunfaded? *chuckling that develops into insane laughter*

Pony Corral / Pony smell in the strangest place!
« on: July 30, 2014, 01:44:45 PM »
One of my cats just got back from having his teeth cleaned and a couple surgically extracted. Why am I telling you this?

They cleaned him up with something kind of sweet smelling. It was very strong at first, but now that it's wearing off a bit, every time I hug him he smells like... well, he smells like My Little Ponies.

There isn't emoticon that's baffled enough for this!

I wonder if I should go back to the vet and ask what they used... maybe we can extract it and make the Pony Smell perfume people are always wishing for. XD

Customs / Pony modification questions - mostly acetone related
« on: June 15, 2014, 04:34:08 PM »
I just wanted to ask, since I'm preparing to do some paint removal from my fakies this spring: what materials should I have with me when I use acetone? I'm figuring I'll have a water source nearby (probably the hose, as I'll be outside) and lots of rags available. Is there anything else you guys tend to have around when you use acetone? Should I also wear gloves?

Also, is there an easy way to pierce a pony's ears?  I have a fakie I'd like to do this to.  Her plastic is a bit harder than that of a real MLP. (You know those teal ones with pink hair and a strawberry on their butt? That's the one.) It seems like her plastic would be too thick to just jam a pin into, even if I did warm her ears up first.

Thanks guys. :)

Off Topic / I sense a theme with Hasbro (Rock N Roll, dude!)
« on: June 04, 2014, 05:16:41 PM »
My BF just showed me this:
http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/san-diego-comic-con-33/transformers-sdcc-2014-exclusive-revealed-knights-of-unicron-180202/ (scroll down for pics!)

The short and sweet of it (words bolded by me): apparently,  the "Transformers San Diego Comic Con exclusive for 2014 has been revealed to be an 80's Hair Metal Band themed box set named the "Knights of Unicron."

First, Equestria Girls we get Rainbow Rocks, and now this? I think Hasbro is going through a phase right now.  :P
I thought I heard rumors of a reboot of Jem and the Holograms, too. Do you think this stuff is in celebration of that?

...Does Soundwave have an ascot??

I'm very close to starting a sales thread, but I have one lingering question on my mind. While I have feedback as a buyer, I have none as a seller or trader. The question I have is, should I start out only shipping items within my country (the U.S.)? Or is shipping ponies overseas really not that bad? I hear horror stories about it sometimes, as we all do, so maybe I should be more experienced as a seller before I offer to ship overseas? What do you guys think? Would you buy from an overseas seller who had no selling feedback yet?

New question!

I'm playing with the USPS shipping calculator, making sure I know how to use it. I've noticed when I put in theoretical info for a package to be mailed within the US, it's easy to select if you want insurance or not. But I can't figure out how to add insurance on an international package. There's an option of a "certificate of mailing" (which is important, but not insurance) and Registered Mail. Both of those seem more like information that is helpful in filing a claim, but not actual insurance.

Considering the majority of the ponies and things I sell are going to be under 10 dollars, is insuring packages something I need to even worry about? I'd like to know exactly what to do in case the buyer requests it.
