Pony Corral / Your dirtiest fixer upper ponies
« on: April 08, 2013, 08:05:08 PM »
What's your dirtiest fixer upper? Do they have a bad case of rust or lots of pen marks (maybe even Sharpie)? I'd like to see how well they've been fixed.

Currently working on a Tex right now that I originally thought of baiting but after I got him, he looked too nice for it. But he's got an awful case of rust, which I'll post pictures for soon once he's clean.

Wanted! / Closed
« on: March 30, 2013, 10:32:12 PM »
I'm looking for a baity G1 boy pony. I don't care who as long as he's absolutely a bait because I am looking to customize him.

I'm not sure how rare the boys are and so I don't want to take any risks.

Thank you.

Pony Corral / Pinkie Threw a Wild Party....

And this was the result. (sorry for the desk picture)

I found her in my bait box and had to take a picture. I decided that I'm going to clean her up and style her hair, so right now I'm letting the conditioner sit in her hair for a while. (She also had tail rust)

I'll post some pictures after I'm done!

Pony Corral / Strawberry Swirl?
« on: March 15, 2013, 06:55:30 AM »
So one day I dug around my bait bin and found Strawberry Swirl. I cleaned her up and decided to keep her. Well today I found I have another but realized something, this one has a red hoof heart, the other I have is pink. The one with the red hoof heart also has a smaller cutie mark than the other (it's also a bit darker). Both have tinsel hair if that means anything.

I know there were two sets she came in, did one change her up a bit from the previous? Or do I have a strange variant?

Customs / Apple Barrel vs Folk Art Paint
« on: March 06, 2013, 06:41:28 PM »
Is there a huge difference between these two kinds of paint besides colour selection and price?

Apple Barrel is about 60 cents cheaper so if I can save that amount per bottle when the pain is just as good, I'd rather do that. But I'm not going to sacrifice the quality if it's horrible for painting ponies with.

Customs / Keona WIP
« on: March 06, 2013, 12:23:48 AM »
This is a gift for a friend of mine (Tilas here on the Arena) of her chameleon character, Keona. As well as my first custom pony.

(An image of her character for reference: visitors can't see pics , please register or login
)

Originally I had sculpted clothes on her but they cracked and looked bad anyway. So I ended up redoing everything.

She's since been sanded down and I'm gluing her head back right now.

Hopefully the rest goes well!

Pony Corral / Show me Bubbles!
« on: March 05, 2013, 11:45:09 AM »
Bubbles has become one of my favorite G1 and I'd like to see her in others collections. Officials or customs, doesn't matter to me!

Also I suppose since she's got a bubbly cutie mark we can include Drama Pony too.

Pony Corral / Need some help (G1 Minty)
« on: February 26, 2013, 02:48:03 PM »
So today I bought a G1 Minty. Now it was in a glass case and didn't check the hooves till after I bought it (for probably too much but I'm okay with it).

Well one hoof says it's from year 2007. Did I get some weird reproduction? A fakie? I'm rather confused. It also tells me it was made in china.

I'm not very knowledgeable  on G1s but the cutie mark is on both sides, I'm not sure if that's normally with G1s either.

In short, I'm confused. If it's some sort of fakie, I don't really care. It looks very nice and like the original.

Customs / Best Clay for G3 Customizing
« on: February 10, 2013, 11:21:08 PM »
Okay I need some opinions on clay here, along with their pros and cons.

I've personally used regular Sculpey on one only to have it crumble after baking. I'm not sure if I didn't bake it enough or if it just sad in the wrong environment for a while. (I left it sitting on the top part over my desk for ages) Either way, I'm not willing to sculpt it all over in Scupley again if it's going to continue to crumble.

So recommendations on types of clay and techniques would be appreciated. I've looked up some tutorials but I'd really like more insight. I'm just worried since one custom I have planned is going to be rather clay heavy (Ace Hardlight from Ratchet: Deadlocked) and I don't need him falling apart on me.

Thank you.
