Hello friends!
This is my first time posting after a long absence...the past five years have been a whirlwind! After getting my bachelor’s degree and holding down several part-time jobs/freelancing in the craziness that was 2020, I am excited to be moving out of state for grad school starting this fall.
To cut to the chase—I’ve realized that now is the time to vastly downsize my collection (my ponies have been collecting dust, and grad school isn’t cheap!), and wanted to ask you lovely people for some advice!
Questions for sellers:
1) What is your preferred platform for selling? I would like to give the Arena community first dibs, but recognize that eBay or Mercari may be more efficient (and fast...it would be nice to clear out my room sooner rather than later).
2) Best shipping methods? I’ve heard about Pirate Ship but haven’t tried it yet. Also, I’m open to shipping internationally if someone has pointers!
3) Best packaging methods? I want to do what’s affordable and good for the environment, but also don’t want it to be ugly...
4) Best organizational methods? At the end of the day I would like to clear out 200-300 ponies in my collection, which is a bit overwhelming...do you sell individually or in small groups? Give small discounts for purchases over certain amounts?
Questions for buyers:
1) Do you prefer to buy individually, in preset batches, or buyer handpicked batches? (Multiple ponies may result in cheaper shipping, although I haven’t actually calculated how much of a difference it would make.)
2) If purchasing through the Arena (not eBay, Mercari, etc.), are there any payment methods that you stay away from/can’t use? Venmo is the most convenient for me, but I recognize that people may be used to a different/more secure method.
3) What add-ons have you liked receiving in the past? I plan on handwriting little notes for each purchase (probably with a little doodle since I’m an illustrator ), and would consider adding slightly fancier drawings or MLP stickers I’ve accumulated over the years to larger purchases.
4) Do you like having the option for insurance on large purchases (say, over $75-100)? As a buyer, this would be an extra cost for you.
Thank you all for your help! I feel sincerely privileged to be a part of this warm community, and while I don’t foresee myself actively collecting for a while, this will always be my MLP home when I’m craving a little pony fix.

Hi everyone! Been ages since I've logged on here, but I'm attending this annual toy fair in a couple of hours and wanted to PC a couple gals I'm bringing for trade/sale.
Large G3 Pinkie plushie: visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Princess Twilight II and Princess Crystal Palace (appears nearly, if not wholly, complete--just realized that I forgot to unstick a third jewel from the upper tier of the palace): visitors can't see pics , please register or login
Thank you so much!

Is there a way I can defrizz G1 hair while keeping most of the original curl? I know boiling is the most tried and true method, but I wasn't sure what it would do to original curls.
Also, I have a Megan doll who is in lovely shape but for a chewed foot and ridiculously frizzy hair. Can the pony methods for defrizzing be used on her hair, too? Or is it another blend that should be treated differently?
Thanks!

I was just inspired by other repro-makers out there to make Big Brother and Baby Brother bandannas for my boys! I thought someday this summer I'd take a trip to JoAnn's and buy a few of their fabric scraps.
Does anyone have a printable pattern/template for these bandannas? I'd like to make mine as true to original size and shape as possible. (It can be as simple as a tracing on a PDF page.)
Thankies!

Hi everyone!
So, for a while I've had this darling unfinished custom by YellowCat--and she's been sitting bald in one of my bins for months, awaiting new hair! I've decided it's about time to give her some locks, and wanted to ask questions about your experiences with Dollyhair before I decide to buy.
On the DH nylon page (I assume that's the blend used for ponies?), there's an option to buy a "My Little Pony hank" for $3.12. Would this be enough to root a Core 7 G3 with standard length hair or longer (mane and tail)?
There's also an option to buy the same amount of hair in a blend of 2-4 colors. Have any of you purchased blends, and how did they turn out for you? Photos would be great!
Lastly, would you recommend buying straight from the site or from a customizer here on the Arena?
Thanks for your help! Starlily

I just wanted to get my current signature checked to make sure it's not too large. Please let me know if the middle image needs to be shrunk!
Thanks, Starlily

A long time ago I stumbled across this awesome website where somebody had compiled a ridiculous amount of original G1 art (I believe all in GIF format) to share with the MLP community. I've saved several images I liked onto my computer, but totally didn't think to save the name of the site. I'm sure I had bookmarked it at some point, but can't find it.
Does anyone have any idea what I'm talking about...? If you have the link or name of the site, please let me know! I can show some of the pictures I've saved if need be.

September is Plush Appreciation Month! ^ This part of the All-Gen challenge is for approximately SEPTEMBER TO OCTOBER--you can join late, but the idea is to do this for at least one month! I'll try to pick a new gen/type of pony to concentrate on each month.
(*Due to a busy school year, I will often be late in changing the challenge up and may skip a few months.*) Hi there everyone!
I started the All-Generation Appreciation challenge in March of 2013, and thought I'd revive it, as there are probably many new people on the Arena who would benefit from and enjoy it.
So, I think I can safely say every collector has at least one "least-favorite" generation, one that they can't help mocking for their deformed style. I really don't care for G3.5s (my least favorite), and G4s are close behind. But when you think about it, each generation should be appreciated for the time and effort that teams of real people put into each design, whether they are attractive to you or not. This challenge is to see if you can hold back those snide comments for at least one month and practice all-generation appreciation. It may be tough, it may not. I hope you will join me in this; I don't know how successful it will be or how many people will join. But it's worth a shot.
Here are things about the challenge you should know:
1) For the duration of the challenge, hold back ANY degrading comments or complaints (even little ones) about your personal least-favorite gen(s)/ponies/fakies, whether it be directed to the toys, images, or whatever. These comments can be online, at home, in the office (if you talk about ponies in the office...), at school. If you slip up, no worries--just go back and edit the post or rephrase the sentence. No "they honestly look like fish/mice" or "they're just ugly". Trust me, those I have said.
2) I'm not asking you to actually buy any "ugly" gen ponies you see, but by all means, if you are up to it (and find them at a good price), rescue those girls from the thrift store! Heck, you may grow to like them, or maybe someone else needs that special pony to complete their set, and you can sell/trade it later. This is all totally optional.
3) If you feel sporty enough, you're perfectly welcome to put text like "I'm taking the challenge!" in your sig or profile. Linking that text to this post could draw in more participants.
I hope this is an exciting enough idea that I'll get a lot of you interested! If anything I wrote here isn't clear, please let me know.
Your pony friend, Starlily
(Mods, if enough people reply, feel free to sticky this. )

So, here's my question of the day!
I currently own two seaponies, and the baby of the two has some serious rust that has even spread to her mane. What do you do to tackle rusty seaponies?- what cleaning products/process do you use to clean rust out of a seapony's body?
- what cleaning product/process do you use to clean rust out of her mane?
- do you keep the rusty weight (pony value higher?), or replace it with something that can't rust? (i.e. glass pebbles)
Thanks for all the help! I've struggled enough with normal tail rust (two ponies still stand without their tails on display) and didn't want to tackle this seapony business without expert advice.

Hey, fellow writers!
So, I'm one of those gals who's had this novel stuck in her head for three and a half years, and never finished the second chapter. All of that is changing this month, however...
I don't know if you've ever heard of NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month), but it's basically an annual online challenge to write that novel/memoir/other long story you've been hankering to get down in just one month! A real task, if you ask me...but definitely rewarding if you make it.
NaNo occurs every November, but they also have a "Camp" program two other times during the year for those who can't do their standard month. I'm doing this July, and boy, is it an adventure!
Unfortunately I'm pretty behind on my word count right now (Nov has the fixed goal of 50k words, but Camp allows a flexible wc goal--right now I'm at 40k, but that may change)...my family and I were on vacation this past weekend and I only wrote 150 words in 5 days.
BUT--everything's gonna change these next two weeks! This is the first time I've ever attempted NaNo, Camp or otherwise, and I am determined to make it to the finish!
Anyone out there who's joining me this month, or who has done NaNoWriMo in the past? Come on in and share your experiences!
And if you're not a NaNo-er (I know it's not a word) but still a budding novelist--how's your writing life now? Are you too busy to put some words to a page, or feel pretty good about your developing story?
So, this is my excitement for the summer. Hope everyone's enjoying the heat (or moderate warmth, if you live in a more forgiving place than southern Arizona)!
God bless, Starlily
