I have a Sea Breeze who has been waiting for some TLC- by which I mean that the hair of her mane and tail comes out in clumps. Besides that, it's very grungy and rough looking, and I'd like to rehair her.
I've never rehaired anything, though, and I'm not sure which rehairing tool would be best to go with. The customs forum had some links in a stickied topic, but I'd like to know what the community thinks works best? I'm also unsure of where to buy pony hair, as I've heard a lot of not so good stuff about Dollyhair recently.
So, which rehairing tool do you think is best, which sites are best to buy pony hair from, and about how much hair should one expect to buy for a G1 pony?

I bought a Princess Misty on eBay a few days back. ( Here's the link to the ended auction.) The photos on it were very dark, but she looked pretty good, aside from some frizziness at the end of her braids. The seller's description was simply "In good shape no knots in hair" visitors can't see pics , please register or login(Image from the eBay auction.) I got the pony today, and there are marker lines and dots on her leg and neck that were hidden by the darkness of the photos, and since the seller decided not to mention them, I had no way of knowing that she was all marked up. visitors can't see pics , please register or loginvisitors can't see pics , please register or loginI've never had to contact a seller about marker flaws before. I've messaged a Chinese seller who sent me a broken anime figure once, but I don't know how to go about this. "Hello, I purchased a pony from you who had unlisted marker flaws that were not visible in the photos"? I'm just not sure what's fair for me to ask or expect here. If you bought a pony listed as "in good shape" and she arrived with marker ink on her, would you ask for any refund? Am I overreacting here?

A new thrift store opened up in town, and I've been itching to go in and check them out... today I got a chance, walked over from the nearest bus stop, and was sure there would be no ponies. All I could see was furniture and clothes. But then I wandered into the back room and bam, instantly I saw pony hair!
I found a whole heap of G1 ponies in a toy bucket; I thought I must be dreaming! I kept digging and found more and more; I got my first baby pony, my first boy (Wigwam!!) my first Twinkle Eyes... This is the first time I've ever had such luck in a thrift store (up until now I've found some G3 and G4 McDonald's toys and some common newer ponies...)
One of the girls has her hair cut super short... It's actually kind of cute, really punk-ish. Another one (can't think of her name, she has a 3D ice cream symbol) has a hair trim right between her forelock and the rest of her hair... very awkward looking.
All of them are FILTHY. Lots of dirt, sticky stuff, tangled hair (though mostly uncut, yay!) and some marker marks... The only big thing that's jumping out at me are some worrying dark spots on a lot of them. Time to look into Pony mold removal?
Pictures to come in a little while, I'm still bouncing off the walls from finding all these ponies. I actually had to pass on some older looking fakies and G3 mcdonalds ponies... the store only took cash and so did my barber. (I ended up spending too much to get my haircut anyway, lol!) Pony gods, if I'm asleep, don't wake me up.

I've been going through my bedroom and closet for Stormydreamer's "Bust the Clutter!" challenge, and found an old Border's bookstore poster from when Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows first came out... someone gave it to me and I've had it sitting around for a few years. I was going to bin it, but I looked it up on eBay and the same poster just recently sold for $70!! Talk about expensive paper... Say, who wants a Harry Potter poster? It's amazing how much some things will go for to the right collector.

I've never done anything more than wash my ponies and style their hair, so I don't know how to get started on this.
I got a Brush n Grow Brilliant Bloom pony in the mail today, and opened her up to make myself feel better. I knew from the description that there was some pink marker on the back of her leg, which I didn't think much of. But now that I have her in hand there is actually some ugly discoloration around the marker as well that didn't show in the photo. Is sunfading my best bet for the marker on her, and can the lightening of the plastic around the marker be undone?
Second, I have a Parasol. I bought her on the arena during the summer and put her right on my shelf. Lately I've seen some topics about rattling in the pony meaning rust, and I'm worried... There is quite the rattle inside her, something small in a high quantity that seems to almost fill her legs. I looked closely at her tail this morning; there does seem to be some rusty-coloured staining on an innermost part of the tail, and even a bit around the tail hole... Can anyone tell me how to go about cleaning her out, or point me to a good tutorial for that..? Or do I just need to pop her head off, scrub her out, and that's it?
(If needed for reference, I can get some pictures tomorrow when the sun comes up.)

Now, I have no idea how common mail order toys are anymore. As a kid they were always too expensive and complicated for me to get, though I remember seeing things like special mail-order dolls and such in the backs of magazines.
I'm looking through Dream Valley right now, just browsing through the ponies, and ended up on the mail-order ponies page. I recognize a lot of them, and I know some of them are super sought after, and others I've never seen hide nor hair of before!
I recall reading about G3 mail order ponies on mylittlewiki before, and G2s, and I was starting to wonder: Would it be out of the question for Hasbro to release special mail-order G4s..? I have no idea if special edition toys still sell through mail-order anymore, or that Hasbro would even bother, (they seem content to keep remaking the mane six) but what do you think? Is there a chance of some super special G4 ponies being available only through mail order during this generation? Or is that method of sale too outdated?

New year, new ponies! I know everyone who collects G4s has noticed a wide range of problems with the new ponies, and a big drop in quality from previous generations. Even if it's just wishful thinking: this year, what do you want Hasbro to do? Personally, I'd like to see a ton of things done: Retro releases! I know there was a Minty G4 prototype, but it would be really cool to get a set of vintage ponies done up in the G4 style. More quality control! Beyond the typical head/body mismatches, I've had a lot of problems with buying expensive sets, only to find that the ponies' hair just falls out! In addition to that, maybe some fixed colours on the Mane Six..? My McDonald's Twilight Sparkle is more show accurate colour-wise than my brushable. How sad is that? McDonald's managed to do it better than Hasbro... sigh. More poses! I know we have standing pose and the "one hoof lifted daintily" pose, but come on now... I only have 9 G1's on my shelf, but they're in six different poses just in this small collection. Variation is the spice of life! And finally... pegasi with their wings laid down. I'm just... not fond of the G4 wings that stick straight up. It's hard for me to style their hair around, and it just looks odd, especially next to my G1s with their wings laid against their bodies. Couldn't something like that be done with the new ponies? Anyway, I just thought this would be fun. What do you want to see in this generation?

I just looked through the "Out now/Coming soon" thread, and I didn't see her. There's always a chance I just scrolled past her though! I found her on Taobao and almost mistook her for Lyra... Anyone know what she's called by chance? visitors can't see pics , please register or login

So, I figured it was about time I took some pictures of all the ponies I've bought and been given over the past month or so. I'm still waiting for a few more to come in the mail, but I think it's going to be a while. UPDATE: The Canterlot set with Celestia, Twilight S and Spike arrived, with some body discolouration. Whoops. u_u I also bought a Fashion Style Rainbow Dash and Ploomette today. I have a pony problem. Here we go, starting with new G4s! visitors can't see pics , please register or loginI bought a FS Celestia, Twilight, and Fluttershy to keep my Pinkie Pie company. I'm going to break down and buy Rainbow Dash next time I see her... then just a few more until I'm drowning in Fashion Styles! The little Applejack was a gift from a close friend who keeps spoiling me. visitors can't see pics , please register or loginI just bought the Princesses yesterday (ten mile bike ride, woo!) and purchased Blossomforth from a member of the arena, and Coconut Creme on ebay. (I overpayed. I don't care, she's pretty. v__v) visitors can't see pics , please register or loginTAF Sweettooth just arrived the other day from a member of the Arena, and I bought Surprise with Blossomforth and a princess pony. visitors can't see pics , please register or loginThese G3's and Retro Minty (and Blossom, who's on another shelf) were also a gift. G3 minty looks really cute with all her "modifications". visitors can't see pics , please register or loginI won Glory on ebay for really cheap. She's so pretty. visitors can't see pics , please register or loginTwilight and Windy were "bargain basement" ponies I bought on the Arena, and they're both gorgeous. The picture does them no justice. visitors can't see pics , please register or loginvisitors can't see pics , please register or loginSunlight, Parasol, and Tiffany I bought here. I detinseled Princess Tiffany, and I think she looks so sweet now. Retro Blossom was one of the gifts I got, and I've found she's really head heavy. I had to trap her between a couple books so she won't fall on her face. Welp, that's all for now! I should be getting another Canterlot set in the mail today- another Celestia, Twilight Sparkle, and Spike. What do you mean I'm running out of pony space? >.>

Another package of ponies arrived for my yesterday, and in it were Surprise and Princess Tiffany. (And Blossomforth) Surprise is in great shape, so I'm just going to try sunfading her a bit. Tiffany needs a bit more work. I've got her head off and tail out to remove tinsel, and I'm already worrying about how I'm going to get that tail back in snugly...
But my real problem is with her DS eye. There seems to be a serious scratch, and it's very visible. I thought maybe I could repaint that eye... But I don't know what kind of paint is right to use on ponies. I know that acrylic will wash off, and I don't want that... What kind of paint is good to use on ponies?
Edit: Forgot to say this as well: Her medallion symbol has paint rubs on both sides, and a lot of the metallic paint is gone. Any suggestions for how to pretty that up? Is there a specific type of paint used for that?

I want to buy all the Fashion Style ponies, but I'm going to have to make dresses for Rainbow Dash and Applejack. AJ doesn't come with one, and the dress Rainbow Dash comes with, er... How do I put this. It's like a circus tent? A potato sack? Some sort of awkward clown dress? It just doesn't look nice on her, in my opinion. So, show me some pony clothes for inspiration! Any generation, custom made or official Hasbro merchandise, or even your patterns for making pony clothing! Give me all you've got.

So, in celebration of today being my last day of highschool, I biked ten miles and swung by Walgreens to finally buy myself a G4 pony. I got an FS Pinkie Pie (Does Walgreens even carry any other pony ever?) and brought her home to carefully unpackage. Not such a big deal to get a current pony, but this is the first time I've ever managed to buy one. I'm always too afraid of judgement to even go near the toy aisles. visitors can't see pics , please register or loginI was so shocked at the size. I had seen FS ponies before, but never beside another pony who wasn't G4. I guess I didn't realize she would be almost the same size as my G1! visitors can't see pics , please register or loginI think I spent half an hour getting her out of the packaging. At least I didn't have to cut it open, lol. visitors can't see pics , please register or loginThere was a bunch of gluey stuff on her neck. Is that normal, or did I just get a messy one? visitors can't see pics , please register or loginAll done. I'm hoping to get a couple packages of ponies in a while... So I'll be back in the brag arena soon.

Hello everyone! My name is Daniel, I'm 18 years old, and I've just started trying to build my pony collection. I live in Montana, a large but sparsely populated state, and I'm finishing up my final year of highschool.
I have just recieved my first pony as a gift from a close friend: Princess Primrose. She is my only pony, aside from an Applejack plush that another friend sent to me. I hope to collect many ponies from each generation, as there are so many gorgeous ones to be had.
I hope I'm able to make some good friends here and perhaps scrounge up some good deals on old ponies.
