Pony Brag Arena / Teeny-tiny brag ^^ my first G2 baby - so happy! <3
« on: July 05, 2012, 07:57:33 AM »
on Tuesday I visited my father, and there's a charity shop near his house, so I took the opportunity and visited that as well. look who I found there for 50 cents (alone, unfortunately):

(yeah. awful picture says "y u no found a new camera instead?" :yikes: )

she's baby Wiggles, isn't she? there's so little info on G2 babies I didn't even know for a long time they exist... but I fell in love with them immediately once I saw a picture (okay, it's easy with me: take something cute, make it half the size, or even smaller, and you win me over. I simply cannot resist falling in love with things that are cute and tiny :P ), but by Tuesday I have never even seen one in real life. now she is the new favourite! she stands next to my laptop since I brought her home, and I can't stop looking at her, smiling :) I mean, look at those eyes and smile! and... she's sooooooo tiny! :3
she's not perfect, but I don't mind that. she has both her eyestones, and her hair is in good condition apart from the tinsel being a bit frizzy. but she does have some red and black spots - much less than before taking a bath thankfully (it looked like crayon, and thankfully most of it came off, but the red was more nasty and it made some discoloration in her body).
and one thing I am reeeeally angry about: she had all her plugs when I brought her home. it took several minutes to get that dang price tag out of her hair (because where else would you put the freakin' price tag than in the tinsely hair? ), and it was a relief once it came out without hurting the tinsel. but. during the bath the very first green plug fell out completely  her hair wasn't frizzy at all, and the tinsel didn't affect combing, so it wasn't because of me not being careful enough. it simply fell out. how the heck did they put it in? but at least I have it, so I'm planning on putting it back somehow. but how should I do it? are these teeny-tiny things even rehairable? I'm afraid I'd better do it from the outside somehow. does anyone have some ideas on how I should get that one plug back?

Pony Brag Arena / Unexpected Italian Starshine in a lot ^^
« on: June 29, 2012, 05:46:21 AM »
so yesterday I picked up a Lullabye Nursery (I already have one, but this one included many things it came with originally, where mine is basically empty :( ) I won at a local auction site. it also included 7 ponies, 5 of which were fakies, and 2 that are G1s. one of them was a Starshine. I was happy enough with that - I just love that pose and the only pony I owned in that pose until now was Skydancer - but on my way home, just as I was having a closer observation of all the things in the lot (the lady I picked it up from lives an hour away with public transport >_< so I had plenty of time), I spotted Starshine's Italian :|... :frolic:

I'm not really a Nirvana collector, I only found out I already have one last week, but I'm happy with this little gurl (uh, guy? as far as I'm concerned he's a boy regarding he's Italian). he's not at all mint, his symbol has faded almost completely, he has a tiny spot (seems to be surface spot) on his face and his hind legs have a little discoloration on the inside, but I'm not a mint collector either, so I'm okay with him :) and his hair is awesome <3

here's Skydancer greeting him:

Off Topic / I need help in identifying some stuff and accessories...
« on: June 29, 2012, 05:29:06 AM »
...could you please help me out with them? I received them in a pony lot, however, I'm quite concerned that most of them* isn't an MLP item (that's why I decided to post this thread here, I hope this is the right place).

*apart from the skirts and shoes which I suspect are G3 accessories, but, again, I'm not too familiar with G3s, so help is much appreciated here as well ^^

not that my phone was meant to be used as a camera, but only after uploading did I realise this pic actually turned out this bad   sorry for that, and I promise I'll try to take and upload a better one.

also I am quite sure I don't need most of them - if there's someone who could do a PC for them or who'd be interested in them I'm happy to sell or trade them off.

many thanks in advance for your help!

Pony Corral / Sticky-bodied fakie - what should I do with her?
« on: June 28, 2012, 08:20:58 AM »
today I picked up a pony lot I won earlier on a local auction site. it included 5 fakies I knew I won't need, and I planned to re-sell them. however, one of them isn't quite re-sellable I'm afraid.
the problem is that her body is sticky all over  at first I hoped it's only some surface stickiness, so I gave her a good bath (just as to the others), and it seemed to have disappeared, however, just as she dried she became all sticky again. I'm afraid it's because of the bad quality material she's made of, maybe some component of the plastic is oozing out of her

question one: have you ever seen something like this? do you know a possible cure for her?

question two: if not, what would you do with her? I'm sure sticky like this I'm not willing to sell or even give her to anyone, she's not really "playable" like this. her body is just too soft, so I doubt it would be possible to make a custom out of her. on the other hand, her hair is in a rather nice condition, so I thought of saving that, and throwing the body away. but ehm... it just seems so cruel (although a bit less cruel than throwing the whole poor thing out, because this way at least partially she can "serve for good")
I also thought of keeping her, but I don't really collect G3 fakies (nor G3s), so I don't have much interest in her collectionwise, in addition, I'm already having a hard time thinking where and how to store her not to make things that get in contact with her sticky :(

many thanks in addition for any kind of advice!

okay, so sometime last week I realised I have a Macau Lemondrop  :frolic:
it all started with me browsing the forums and reading random stuff when in one of the topics I found something mentioned I didn't understand. the term was "bleeding symbol", and it got me curious enough, so I searched for it. when I found out what it means I also found that this is something that is more common among some ponies, I read on and on and on, looked at pictures, and finally I just got too suspicious and went straight to the room where my ponies are located, and picked my Lemondrop up to find "Macau" written on her back right leg
this was kind of a shock, by that time I never realised she's this special. she was always special for me because of her lovely long and full hair which is unusual compared to other ponies I have (plus, she's yellow-purple. I have a soft spot for yellow-bodies, purple-haired ponies), but before this I didn't know what might have caused her unusual hair.
(I didn't like her bleeding symbol that much though, but hey, you can't wish for too much :D )

I'm pretty much wondering how she ended up here. I got her second hand in a lot some years ago. I've read it somewhere that Macau ponies are a bit more common in Germany, and as Hungary is not far from Germany we do have much stuff coming from there, however the shop I bought this girl at sells second hand stuff imported from England. did Macau ponies occasionally show up on English shelves, or do I have a little traveller here whose English home wasn't the first country she lived at already?

ah, also, do you know what coloured ribbon she had back when she had one? I couldn't find a picture showing that, and I'd really like to find it out and get her one - I think she deserves one ^.^

there's another strange thing about her (the one I mentioned in the title of the topic): her eyes seem to be a bit... uneven O_o I mean, her left and right eye doesn't look the same, one of them seems to have more black in it than the other - just like she only had time to use eyeliner on one eye :P
I tried to take some pics of them (they are crappy, I know, sorry for that, but I hope you see what I mean):

is it some kind of an error, or what?

Pony Brag Arena / I found a Gen 2 beanie - in one of our wardrobes ^^
« on: June 25, 2012, 01:32:01 AM »
this little cutie is here with me for about 1,5 weeks now, but recently I've been so busy I just couldn't post about her. let me introduce you... Light Heart!

(again, I'm so sorry for the crappy picture, I still don't have a new camera -___- )

about 1,5 weeks ago I visited my father, and, as I was searching for something, I looked through some family wardrobes I usually didn't use (I didn't have much clothes or stuff there), and in one of them I found this girl
finding her almost made me cry! I'm sure she would have been a little present for me from my mother, but she never managed to give it to me. she always had this habit of buying small plushies and toys for us and giving them as little surprises to both me and my sister, even when we were both adults, in any situation that needed a lovely little addition. and, as I was the pony girl in the family, I think this would have been one for me.
I was holding this little girl during my final exam at university on Wednesday, so this way I had the feeling that Mom's also there with me. she really wanted to see me finish this, too bad she didn't have the time left  :( but I'm sure she's proud and happy now... wherever she is right now :')
thanks for this little girl, and thank for all the support throughout all those years, Mom!

Pony Brag Arena / Sea pony brag ^^
« on: May 26, 2012, 09:14:38 AM »
even though I have planned some already, this is my first brag topic - I hope I'm doing it right ^^

yesterday I visited a shop that sells used toys, and (among some other cool - non-MLP-related stuff I collect) I found this little rasta girl:

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

(please forgive the bad quality of the pic, my camera broke awhile ago, so this was done with my phone - which is, well, not really made for taking photos :D still I chose to take one, because a brag thread without pics is like pizza without cheese: it's ok, but it's just better if you have cheese on it  )

she was quite filthy, and - as you can see - her hair is awful*. still for half a dollar I couldn't leave a Sea pony there! thankfully all the dirt came off, so (apart from the hair) she is in good condition :) I'm planning to try to re-hair her, hopefully in a month I will have a bit more time on my hands. I'm already excited about it - never done it before

and about the float... well, it's another brag  I found it separately about a month ago in another shop for 99 p. I was sad it didn't come with a pony, but I decided to buy it anyway, because my other 2 sea ponies don't have their floats, so now at least one of them will have one, not hers, but still. until yesterday my Pretty & Pearly Sea Star (you can see her in my avatar pic) was sitting in it, and when I brought Beachcomber home yesterday I did a quick search on her - and realised the float belongs to her! (or well, another Beachcomber - I found them in different shops) what a coincidence

*do you know by the way what may have caused her hair to become like this? I can't even imagine how a hair can get this ruffled

Introductions / Greetings :)
« on: March 23, 2012, 12:20:56 PM »
Hello everyone! :)

Here's a newbie, who, after checking the Arena for quite some time finally decided to register as well. Now it's time to introduce myself
I am a 27-year-old 'girl' from Hungary, right now I am an university student (earth sciences/geology) - due to finish this June. My interests are music, nature, plants and animals (succulents when it comes to houseplants), literature, languages, paleontology, art & crafts, manga & anime, Furbies and Tamagotchis - not necessarily in this order :)

My Little Ponies were basically always part of my life (being an 1980s girl we're almost of the same age :P ). I was a huge pony fan already back in nursery days and loved to get one from time to time, but, as they were rather expensive compared to our wallets' content it was a rare happy occasion to get (or later, when I had the money of my own, to be able to buy) an original MLP. I continued buying ponies up to this day, but I don't consider myself a collector - it's just that if I find one (used, on local auction sites or second hand/charity shops) for a reasonable price I love to buy them :) I only collect G1 and G2 ponies (although I do have 2 G3s too), those are the ones I grew up with, and my eyes simply like the looks of them more :)
