Off Topic / Yay :3 My first needle crafty thing

I finally stopped being lazy and finally did a little needle felt animal. (This is an anime character Totoro in case you didn't know). I'm totally happy and want to do more. XD I only stabbed myself like 3 times in the making of it. He's pictured with a YO-SD sized doll.

I really wanted to add whiskers too but my wire is too thick for it.

(and he's also for sale if anyone is interested ;__;* My cat chewed through my laptop cord and I am barely able to charge my laptop, and ... cords for macs are so stinking expensive. No big deal if work didn't cut all my hours for this month, leaving me scraping on by........ ugh. life, right??!)

The Dollhouse / Anyone interested in a YO-SD male body?
« on: October 13, 2012, 04:32:25 PM »
I'm just going to throw this out here~

Is anyone interested in a YO-SD male body. *__* It's a Volks Kuuta (2nd ver I believe). It doesn't look yellowed at all compared to the other body I got. I bought a Yo-Tenshi body for my doll because male bodies REALLY scare me. It's in amazing shape and all that, but I don't wanna do any pictures unless there is some interest.

(Although I probably eventually have to take pictures to go to ebay if no one here would like it.)
so scary ;O;* boys. yuck.

Customs / G4 Argie Sugarberry custom.
« on: August 19, 2012, 11:01:13 AM »
*waves hello*
It is not too often I post in these forums ~

This is my second complete brushable G4 custom. (My first was Citrus Sweetheart).

My lighting is slightly messed up ~ The hair color isn't that striking blue! It's more of a toned down blue ~

I hope to never do another TAF pony cuz that was just a pain! I wanted to simplify the pattern, but I ended up keeping it pretty much to scale.

She is haired in thermal magic moonbeam (from retrodollsus.com), which is a really great color for her + as a bonus it turns white. I was going to use Atomic Turquoise which is closer in color, but it's very shiny, and a matte color seemed better (even if it is a bit bluer, but aesthetically that is also nice to me).

She only really took a couple hours to do, but she has been on my to-do list for quite a few months now.

I just need to glue her hair in, trim her hair down, and I'm all set *^_^*.

She will be best pony friends with my G4 Columbian white applejack (made by the wonderful Ren-Ren), and I hope to add more "nirvana" G4s to the group. :D I love Nirvanas, and I love G4s, it's like awesome to put them together! Haha. (And saves money too!)

Thanks <3 And everyone at these forums is just so inspiring to me <3

I am sporting an idea to make little felted bunny / kitty / fox hats (and tails) for some dolls. I know pullips are popular ~ but I don't have one. (AND DUMMY ME, MH is all the rage too!!!)

Is there anyone on this forum kind enough to let me borrow one? I might have it up to 3 weeks, I will take great care of it (I have my own dolls, and I know how special they are), and as a thank you, I will give you some hats. :)

I do have some 7/8 wigs and 6/7 wigs  so I think one of those sizes fits onto pullip heads? And I will be crafting something from a foam ball, so I won't be stabbing the doll head. ;3

Thanks in advance.

I'm in the USA, I prefer to get one in the USA. :) Will cover to and from shipping.

Off Topic / I wanna start needle felting, a few questions
« on: June 20, 2012, 03:38:42 PM »
So, I have been wanting to do this for over 5 years now. I have invested in one needle, a small bit of wool roving, and a foam block.

I made a sheep during christmas time, but it didn't seem right. I don't know, like it wasn't tight enough. I can't help but thing I didn't poke it enough? How firm should these be? Do people put some kind of support system (wire?) in long limbs?

And it kind of seemed easy in a way. Is it really just stabbing the felt over and over? adding a bit more, and stab stab stab? (I assume it tangles the fibers together). It seems almost dangerous! How do you not stab yourself?? I'm really clumsy, so if there are any safety things... I would like to know.

So, I guess it's like an addition process. So what if you made an area too big, and you'd like to make it a tiny bit smaller? Is that possible.

Or heck , any good videos on you tube? I'm really the type of person to just jump dive into things (short attention span, hate to read), but it seems kind of simple, and I wanna make sure I'm not missing anything important.

  thanks in advance

Off Topic / brainstorming help? (anime animals)
« on: April 18, 2012, 04:11:19 PM »

Heyyo.
Got myself into a bit of time crunching bind , and my mind is not working.
Can anyone suggest some popular cute anime animals?
Like, Totoro, Luna, Pikachu? etc.

I purchased an cute yarn custom applejack-- not here, somewhere else.

I think she is the absolute cutest. My only "issue" is  the yarn is a VERY saturated orange. So saturated, that she does not fit in at all with my small G1+G4 Applejack collection. I am sad about it. I don't find myself to be a "color accurate" person, or even a picky person... but she just looks weird with the others.

Do you think it's rude to ask for a second custom (full price), with a softer orange that is closer in color of G4 applejack?

The Dollhouse / some ?s about shipping larger BJDs
« on: February 19, 2012, 02:34:17 PM »

So I toss the idea around in my head every so often about selling my MSD sized doll. And one of the things that tends to stop me is that finding a box that is large enough for her original box.

Any tips from you pros that sell where to find good boxes for these guys?

And while I'm on this topic , what service do you normally use? Priority? Express? Fed Ex? UPS?

And any general good packing tips? :) I certainly plan on using lots of bubble wrap.

Wanted! / found!
« on: February 18, 2012, 05:09:19 PM »
:) As title said, looking for these last two blind bags to complete my mane 6 collection. I am having a hard time finding these two, as every store i go to is cleared out, and they seem to be the first to go.

I am not looking to pay too much more over cost + shipping

I hope someone can help me out. ^^ Thanks

update: resolved. I was told that international returned goods with tracking are considered "delivered" when the item arrives in customs of the seller's country.

couldn't get an answer why something marked "returned goods" was held up in customs.

original post:

So, I ended up having to return an item, due to a not as described case. It was a pretty yucky looking Argie pony. It's going back to Argentina. I marked the item "returned goods".

I also had to pay out of pocket for priority mail. u__u; So I have to lose $30 for this stupid purchase. Ebay gave me a $10 gift certificate toward any purchase on ebay. I'm sorry, I'd rather have ANY amount of money go toward shipping. :/ I don't want to buy anything right now.

So anyway, this is the point, it says "Payment of charges - Item being held, addressee being notified". What does that mean? Is he being charged custom fees? Even tho it's returned goods? ...

I really hate waiting for international mail to arrive. All I keep thinking is, what if he refuses the item, will ebay not refund me?

MLP Nirvana / Real takara baby guide (How to tell if you have a fakie)
« on: February 11, 2012, 08:14:51 AM »
Hi.

I thought maybe this would be handy for anyone who might not know about takara babies aka "Kawaii Pony" かわいいポニー , or fakie baby takaras. It is of course obvious to me which one is real, and which one isn't. But it might not be to other people. So I thought this guide would help out to any confusion... because I have seen confusion, even within the past week.

My babies aren't quite ready for a real photoshoot yet. I have still have a bit more work of getting some decayed rubberband residue out of their hair (I am slowly getting it out).

Let me know if you have any questions about either real or fakies that might not of been covered. :) I am more than happy to answer any questions-- or if there are certain pictures you'd like to see.

STEP ONE: Identification.
As far as we know, from inserts, boxes, and the catalogue, the only Takara babies released are Popo and Lily. Popo is the yellow one, pink hair, and arms up. Lily is the pink one, purple hair, and arms down. They are the same colors as Milky and Pinky (the adults).

STEP TWO: Neck.
I have never seen a baby takara fakie with a U shaped neck joint. Not to say they don't exist, but I have taken the head off of at least 30 fakies. Pop that head off and look how the head is attached to the body. (Fakies have all sorts of different ways from T shape to V shape).

[/b]

STEP THREE: Markings.

It should have a clear indication on the bottom (c) TAKARA CO LTD / '85 / JAPAN. And yes, some might have remnants of this, but it must be very clear and readable.

STEP FOUR: Quality.
Baby fakie takaras do have varying qualities. Some are better than others. Things to look out for are : blurry eyes, poor nose paint, bad dry hair, and how the hair is rooted. REAL baby takaras have finely printed eyes, blush, nice paint job, full thick quality hair, well rooted hair including two straight rows on the tail. I really would look at the rooting, and plugs if your takara is in bad condition.

But really, there are TONS of fakies out there! And the best thing about them is that they come in so many shapes and sizes abd colors! And to be honest, I don't think they are that rare either. Here is a comparison shot of a real girl with some of her fakie sisters.

MLP Nirvana / What is this on my Argie pony? (new pic pg two)
« on: January 21, 2012, 04:14:37 PM »

edit: new pic pg two :3
I understand more about it.
The giant holes/cracks are related to the bumping.

Well. I knew had I overpaid on a recent Argie purchase. ....

  And now I am horrified I grossly overpaid.

It was obviously something I didn't expect, because the original picture isn't good enough to show it. So I wasn't expecting a perfect pony... but I was not expecting these strange black marks all over it. It's like ingrained dirt, but weirder? Is it just ingrained dirt? They are like weird indented black marks. (And then there dots like ingrained dirt.... )

:O AND SHE HAS BUMPS ON HER BUTT. please tell me this isn't a normal for argies. its... gross ;O;
