Off Topic / Free Cat litter!
« on: May 10, 2012, 09:30:45 AM »
I was just going through this months Martha Stewart Living magazine and saw an ad for a free bag of Worlds Best Cat Litter. I've used this litter for my baby for the past two years and LOVE it.  It's all organic, doesn't track too badly, and is flushable. Totally awesome litter.  It does a great job on odor control too. So, if you want a free bag, check out http://buyworldsbestnow.com/ and get a rebate form!

Trader & Shipping Support / How do you keep track of owed feedback?
« on: May 02, 2012, 06:07:53 AM »
I've noticed several threads in Trader Support about people wanting to leave feedback, but not remembering who they owe it to.  However, I'm sure there are many more who never think to start such a thread!

What I'm curious about is how do you keep track of who you owe feedback to? What are your tips and tricks for sales organization?

I have my own method, but it's somewhat flawed and I would love to hear what everyone else does!

Pony Corral / Who ran Pony Clue at last years fair?
« on: April 22, 2012, 10:09:03 AM »
Who was it that was running the Pony Clue at last years fair? I remember that they had a couple of little girls who were running around, trying to sell pictures they colored in.  They offered some to me and I declined.  What I didn't realize until their mother told me later was that they were trying to make money to buy my chocolates.  I don't remember how I responded, but I'm afraid I may have come off as rude.

I'm very sorry if I may have offended or lessened those adorable girls pony fair experience.  I had lost my job the month earlier and was more concerned with making money at the fair to help pay the bills (and the whole expense of even going to the fair!) than with thinking of others. I honestly love seeing creativity and entrepreneurial desire in children and usually try to help encourage it whenever possible. I'm afraid I fell quite short in that last year and would like to correct it now.

Would whoever that was please send me a PM?

Pony Corral / Introducting the PFS- Pony Finder Service
« on: April 16, 2012, 02:47:21 PM »
The Pony Finder Service is an idea I"ve had rattling around in my head for about a year now.  I finally sat down today and actually got the details worked out!  I still have to code the pages and get it uploaded to my website, but here are the basics.

I'd really appreciate any tips for improvements or critiques!

What is the PFS?

The Pony Finder Service (PFS) is designed to help you find the ponies or pony items that currently elude you. It is open to anyone world wide. Approximately once a month, I make a trip into the big city and hit every store that carries ponies on the way.  In general, this is about 100 miles of pony hunting and approximately 30 stores.  Chances are, I can track down whatever it is you are looking for.

How do I place an order?

You can either fill out this form (link forthcoming) or e-mail me directly(link forthcoming).  I will then get back to you and let you know if I can hunt for your item or not. Some items, such as Fashion Style Applejack, are no longer in production and can’t be found.  Others are too new and haven’t made it to my area. Either way, I will let you know if it’s something I think I can find.

What does it cost?

For a mere $3, plus the cost of your item and shipping, you get a whole day of my time to find whatever it is you want. The $3 is non-refundable and helps pay for gas during my search. Add $1 for each additional item.

How do I pay you?

After I confirm that I can search for your item, I will send you three payment requests through PayPal. The first is for $3 to be sent as a gift/donation; this is the non-refundable searching fee.  The second is for half of your item so I can pay for it when I find it.  The last request will contain the last half of your payment and the shipping costs; this will be made after I have your item in hand and ready to go.

How do I get my pony/item?

I will ship it to you within 48 hours of receiving the last payment.  If you live close enough to me, we can arrange a local pickup and the nearest Toys’r’us, local restaurant, or library.

Are there any restrictions?

Not many! The items have to be currently available, obviously.  I can’t guarantee that I can track down something from last year.  Items also have to be found within the USA.  I’m lucky at finding ponies, but I can’t travel overseas just to pony hunt!  Finally, I can’t ship to Italy due to Italian import restrictions.

What if you can’t find my pony?

You get a refund! I’m not going to keep your money if I can’t find what you’re looking for. The only bit I keep is the $3 non-refundable searching fee.

Trader & Shipping Support / Taking a week off- Tendonitis
« on: March 20, 2012, 12:01:28 PM »
Hey everyone!  I really hate to do this, but I've got to eleminate the internet and all computer work for a week to give my arm a rest. I have chronic problems with tendonitis and the only cure is a break from the computer.

I will still take care of any sales completed through my website.  Hubby will check my e-mail for me and take care of the computer work and I'll box up/ship things.

Thanks for the understanding while I take time to heal!

Pony Corral / Suicide or murder?
« on: February 02, 2012, 08:41:43 AM »
Like many of us here, I have a pony on my desk at work. I like to rotate out the pony to match the seasons and the current one is Snowcatcher. I work in the repair portion of a car dealership, so I'm pretty much surrounded by "tough" guys.  They find the ponies very odd and don't quite understand them.  THey tease me all the time.

Well, I had the day off work yesterday. This is what I came in to discover.

Did the ponies do it because they can't stand the car fumes?  Or was it more insideous means?

Pony Corral / Introducing: The New Gray Mare and Love the Arena Sale
« on: February 02, 2012, 06:23:55 AM »
For the past two weeks, I've been geeking out and working on a MAJOR project.  :nerdy: When I learned that the Classifieds from the old Arena wouldn't be moving over here any time soon, and I've had problems posting in the sale forum, I decided it was time to brush up on my web design skills and finally make a pony website.  It currently hosts everything I had for sale at the old Arena, but I have a LOT more stuff to add and hope to add at least six new items every day for the entire month. I am proud to give you:

To celebrate the launch, I am also hosting a "Love the Arena Sale."  50% of all sales, made here, on Etsy, or at NewGrayMare.com will be donated to the Arena.  I would also like to invite any other seller to join me in showing our love and appreciation for the Arena by donating a portion of sales.  I even made a little signature banner for it =)
:lovey: visitors can't see pics , please register or login
  :lovey:
If you would like me to make a custom banner for you stating what percentage you would like to donate, then just ask and I'll make one =)

Now, time to get back to work on that website!  The bare bones structure is there, but it needs to be prettied up quite a bit ;)  I'm sure I'll be working on this for at least the next month. :work:   Ooh, I have so many things planned!  :devious:

:good: Hope you like the new site!

Pony Brag Arena / 2012 Valentines Swap Brags
« on: February 01, 2012, 05:55:39 PM »
I think I'm the first one in the Valentines Swap to get a package!  So, here we go, Brag Time!

I was home all day and the mailman never even knocked on the door to let me know I had a box.  Hubby found it on the porch when he left to get some groceries.  I, of course, stayed home and had fun opening everything.

Once I got the box open, I discovered....

Check out that adorable card!  And look at those pretty dragonfly stickers :enthralled:   The card let me know that my package came from the marvelous Mercynova.  She totally spoiled me!  Since there wasn't anything telling me to open packages in a certain order, I grabbed the one in the bottom right of the photo and found...

This is the prettiest Chief I've ever seen!  And that ribbon in his tail is awesome=)  He's sitting on my desk right now, guarding my other presents.

Next up was:

Midnight Pomegrannate Bath Salts in an adorable container.  I think I'm going to go take a bath tonight so I can enjoy these.  They smell soooooooooo good.

Next up was a small package.

Eeh!  Rainbow Flash Blind Bag!  She's so much more purple in real life than I expected.  And that means I like her all the more ;)

Next up was tea.  I'm drinking it right now.  This stuff is great!  Nice and fruity without any bitterness at all. I'm going to have this as my morning tea and try to make it last the whole month ;)

Mercynova, HOW DID YOU KNOW? I've been looking at the thrift shop for something that would suffice as a tea bag drip tray for the past month! I like to let me tea bags dry out when I'm at work so I can take them home and compost them.

Item number 7 we'll save for the end, because the results were so much fun =)

Number 8 was the Fluttershy Nursery:

I think this one has lighter hair than the US versions.  Look at those cute little critters... This isn't staying in the box for long!  Or, maybe it will.  Easier to dust... Gah, I'm so torn!

ANOTHER Blind Bag!  And it's the sparkly Rarity too.  She's so pretty :D

These smelled so good before I even opened them.  Hubby keeps coming in and stealing "one more."

Here's a photo of everything opened. Of course, we had a photo bomb.  That's to be expected, considering what the last item was...

The last item, actually the 7th I opened, was treats for Misty!

She was trying to get these way before I even had the package open!  Misty highly approves and says thank you.  We made a video so you can see how much she enjoys them =)

THANK YOU MERCYNOVA!!!!!  :lovey: :lovey:  You totally spoiled me silly and I love absolutely everything.

Off Topic / Need De-Bugging help with my website!
« on: January 28, 2012, 08:57:52 PM »
Ooh kay... I need some help here.  I'm seriously trying to get this done by Feb 1 and it's looking like it might not happen.

I'm building a personal website for you lovely pony people =)  The goal is to get the store portion up and running by Feb 1 so I can have my "Love the Arena" sale.  50% of all sales made during the month of February will be donated to the Arena. But, it's a little hard to make the sales if the website isn't working.

What I'm running into is this:

View item, add to cart, click Buy Now button and get the following error message:

Quote
We cannot process this transaction because there is a problem with the PayPal email address supplied by the seller. Please contact the seller to resolve the problem. If this payment is for an eBay listing, you can contact the seller via the "Ask Seller a Question" link on the listing page. When you have the correct email address, payment can be made at www.paypal.com.

Can some of you please view my website and try to buy something? I just want to know if you get the same error or not.  Everything's kind of messy right now, but it's still very much in the design stages ;)

Edit- removed site link

Off Topic / I was just the victim of a Random Act of Kindness!
« on: January 23, 2012, 10:44:11 AM »
So, about an hour ago, I was helping this customer at work.  She was chatting with one of the sales reps and apologized for ignoring me.  I told her not to worry, I was just sitting here admiring her earrings.  She smiled, pulled them out, and gave them to me! They perfectly match my outfit today and are so my style.

I'm still giddy/giggly over this. I have seriously never had anything like this happen to me before!

So, have you had anything so nice/random happen to you?  Share your stories!

Pony Brag Arena / Mega Thrift Shop Brag- Pic Heavy
« on: January 15, 2012, 05:13:29 PM »
YAY!  New Arena!  That right there is a brag in and of itself.  Yes, I'm bragging about the ability to post!  :nerdy:

Now, on to the droolworthy brag photos and minor details.  Last Wednesday was my day off work and I've had boxes of stuff to donate sitting in the garage for months.  I finally decided to get off my kiester and get rid of it! So, off to the thrift shop I went.  Of course, you can't visit such a wonderland of unknown goodness and only drop off stuff; new stuff must be potentially acquired.  A quick trip through the toy section netted...

a Shine Bright Luna, with the plastic still in her hair, for only 90 cents!

And then there was a wonderful discovery... The entire store was 50% off!  And this happened to be a chain (Ohio Thrift, for those of you in-state), so I drove off to two more thrift shops.  Thus began an insane day of pony hunting.

In total, I accumilated over 20 ponies, Get-A-Long Gang Woolma, Swift Wind, He-Man's Battle Horse, G1 LPS, and FSF with factory braids in her hair and ponytails still attached.

One of the best finds?  A Pre-Grand Champion!  Marchon made a series of horses before they carried the Grand Champion logo on their flank. I've sold these in the past for $40 each, so I was pretty stoked to find this one=D

More and better pics of the ponies:

Star Catcher was crammed into a bag, so her wings are kind of bent, but not broken or coming apart. I think I can flatten them out fairly easily=)

Pinkie Overload!

That scooter works great on carpet.  It does a great job chasing cats!

I had a gut feeling I'd find a G1 when I went hunting=)  Too bad her hair's cut.

And the lovely Woolma!

All of these (except for Luna) are for sale.  I've got all of the hair brushed out and they're ready for bath time later tomorrow!  If you want to buy something, then feel free to PM me with an offer.  I'll get better pictures of each item individually when they've all visited the spa and are looking their best.
