We all know that a large majority of the g4 fandom and past gen fandoms don’t see eye to eye, and beyond that, much of the g4 toyline has been....less than stellar quality, for the most part. Buuuut...there are many other aspects to g4, including fan made content, official games, animated media, TCG, comics, manga, higher end collectibles and figures, and more that can be appreciated as well.
So- what one takeaway from the g4 era of My Little Pony been appreciated by the OG fans of the franchise- be it merch, animation, or even a single friendship with a fan of g4?

Let’s talk crossovers. Pony has been seeing a lot of them lately- from Wego, Magic the Gathering, and PUR cosmetics, to Tutu du Monde and ColourPop.
Ideally, I would love for the Japanese Takara ponies to be given a second chance at returning and have their line collabed with Japanese fashion designer/brand Mana-says, who runs Moi Meme Moitie (Elegant gothic Lolita) brand, and the Japanese Shironuri fashion influencer, Minori.
Are there any collaborations with MLP that you guys have long dreamt of?

Do you guys find yourselves ever doing something SFW embarrassing with your little ponies? For example, sometimes, I find myself taking out my g1’s and absentmindedly stroking their silky manes for a while, or giving little smooches to their heads and hoping they’re enjoying their lives with me, while wondering what their lives were like with previous owners. Or envying that their hair is so soft and pretty and (most of) the other gens kind of aren’t. Sometimes, I’ll pet the manes of my g2, 3, and 4 ponies, but they never get smooches. O////O

Some big news has arrived out of Festival of Licensing. (Source: https://www.licensing.biz/hasbro-joins-festival-of-licensing-with-new-peppa-pig-content-pj-masks-toy-plans-and-more/) My Little Pony Generation 5 is finally getting some new information released after almost a year of silence on it. We knew Twilight Sparkle wasn't returning, but it's looking like Hasbro is going for a full on, brand new cast for this one as seen in the quote: Next up, the world of Equestria is expanding to introduce a new generation of ponies to a new generation of fans. With more humor, heart, and music than ever before, Hasbro hopes that audiences will be swept away by the new cast of ponies and the incredible adventure that awaits them. Fall in love with My Little Pony all over again when the all-new, computer-animated theatrical feature hits theaters everywhere in September 2021. The date for the movie was revealed way back in 2019, and pretty much everything from the early leaks have been completely debunked at this point, or changed up. We really are going in blind! Hopefully it's good.

Have you guys collected anything besides from Little Ponies? Way back, I used to collect Shonen Jump magazines, manga, Beanie babies, Yugioh and Pokémon cards. I guess I’ve always been a bit of a collector.

Does anyone think that we need more male ponies. Sure there were some sprinkled sparingly through the previous generations- The Big Brother ponies, like Tex, Steamer, And g2 had Prince Firefly. G4 had Big Mac and Shining Armor single handedly holding up the male side of the toyline (Not counting Discord or Spike because they are not a pony). But do we need more male saturation in the toyline? (To be fair, we did get a lot of males in the blind bag g4 series. Never any brushables though) Does Hasbro think girls just want to play with girl toys? Why have we never gotten Starswirl the Bearded, Tirek, the Smooze, Thunderlane, Sunburst, King Sombra, the Moochik, Scorpan, etc.
How do you guys feel about the lack of male toys in the MLP toyline? What male would you have liked to see get their own toy?

I like the g4 ponies with forelocks. They were very shortly produced before the forelocks were taken away in the design and all the ponies began prematurely balding and developing receding hairlines like Middle Aged men. So I was surprised to find that I had gotten an Applejack with a forelock, with my early 2011 toyline exclusive ponies, Snowcatcher, Flitterheart, and Ploomette. I was going to use AJ to turn into a custom, but now I’m not so sure, now that I discovered her little forelock. Do I preserve the integrity of the forelock, or hack it off? Am I holding the forelock too sacred in the g4 line, or just being ridiculous, because I’m possibly putting more value in it than it’s worth?

While there may be a Stardancer in g1, I want to discuss Star Dancer- a pony who debuted in g4’s “My Little Pony: the Manga- A Day in the Life of Equestria” (volume 1). She has actually been around for quite some time, and it was only very recently that she got an official color pallet reveal by one of the official artists working on it. I think she is downright adorable, and I may have a bias toward celestial themed and named ponies, but she really is super cute! She first gets introduced by Pinkie Pie, when she meets Princess Celestia. And her dialogue and body language instantly raises some red flags. Liiiiike....IS SHE TRULY A SPACE PONY?!?! A lost member of the g1 Celestial ponies? Hmm, quite suspicious. Anyway, what do you guys think of this Star Dancer character? Who’s excited? I’m excited! Kotobukiya put out some teaser and concept art for new Equestria Girl figures soon to be released! Not only do we get. Princess Twilight variant, but also Sunset Shimmer, Princess Luna and Princess Celestia! What are you guys expecting for either the g5 toyline or animation? Are you going in with no expectations at all? Or with reservations?
The most I expect with any certainty is that the prequel movie slated to be release in summer 2020, and g5 season 1 slated to release in the fall is definitely being delayed due to COVID. I had slight hope that there will be a brand new cast of ponies, but I have always doubted that, given g5 will ride on G4’s coattails.

I had a swell day, full of relaxation today. Lounged around in a pool that I had all to myself for a few hours. Then I washed my hair and had a little spa day (with Twilight Sparkle). Bath salts, bubble bath, strawberry margarita and chocolate cookies as Bath time treats. Followed by a facial deep cleaning, a face mask and cookie eye cucumbers, foot mask, and then a facial massage, and some ice cream for an after bath treat. I feel pretty mellowed out.
What have you guys done to relax, today?

I’ve been wondering- we have been seeing a A LOT of series from the 80’s and 90’s getting reboots (She-ra, Rocki’s Modern Life, TMNT Rise, Ren & Stimpy, Beavis & Butthead, Rugrats, Animaniacs, Frasier, Sister Sister, Alf...and so much more) now I know MY LITTLE Pony has been getting reboots with new casts of characters with every generation, but in the mists of this reboot Renaissance, can you guys see Hasbro trying to turn back the clock and having gen 5 be a reintroduction and retelling of gen 1, with many others the original characters that the collectors grew up with?
Also, how would you guys feel if Hasbro started treating g1 like the Pokémon Company does with with g1 Kanto favoritism? (Always giving g1 priorit, references, and reboots In every generation?)

Finally making her public debut, it’s OPAL CLOUD!!! This character originally was supposed to be a ponyfied version of Vivziepop’s character, Angeldust from Hazbin Hotel, but I began to want her as her own character, and developed her into her own character after the rough sketches that I made. She is still quite noticeably influenced by the character through her color scheme and spider theme, but I think I provided enough information through her character bio down below to justify her unique coloration and theme, also. Name: Opal Cloud Name Inspiration: “Opal Cloud” takes from opals being the most famous rainbow-color gemstone; jewels/gems and other riches of the earth being owned by Hades. “Cloud” being synonymous with the sky, “cloud” sounding the same in Japanese as “spider” (“kumo”). Name meaning: “searching for rainbows beyond the darkest clouds and tangled webs”. (The lyrics of “Pink Spider” by HIDE, reflects this character and her name) Nickname: Spider Wubs Nickname inspiration: Star Spiders/ Red Spider Nebula Name meaning; pun on “spider webs”/ Wub Wub/ and “Wub” baby talk for “love”. Cutie mark: a heart-shaped spider web with a moon at the top, and gold alchemical symbol at the center through the bottom, to form the shape of a Manta Ray when combined. Cutie mark meaning: the moon represents the alchemical sign for silver, and is at the top to symbolize Opal being an “inferior metal” and her flawed thought process and state of being through life, the gold symbol is also alchemical in design. However. It is much larger and sits in the center of the spider web down to the bottom. This represents the gold pieces of a better self she’s struggling to find. Both together represent transmutation, allowing Opal to work through to the heart of her problems, find the gold nuggets within her and become a better pony. The spider web that sits on top both symbols represents her love for Star spiders, and the many different layers that there could be to her. All three symbols together form the shape of a manta ray, which symbolizes a destiny of trust and guidance toward and from others to find peace and harmony within herself. To take herself out of her own thoughts and stresses, to begin anew in a new space and time. Cutie mark abilities: a rainbow of color, like visualizer bars, to music along the strings of the web, when she’s really excited. Has anything pony related caused you to smile, today? Sharing my own experience to start things off- I spontaneously decided to Throw a tweet to “Poniko”, one of the people who posts as Japan Pony con’s mascot, as I had questioned her about her thoughts on my favorite g1, Japanese pony line a few months back. The reply that I got from her today, truly made me smile, because I thought for sure, she would’ve forgotten about them. It was so cute! Share what pony things made you guys smile today!

It has been a few months since Potion Nova got her Pony Life brushable released, and since then, she has also been given a blind bag toy. And just a few days ago, she was given her first appearance in the Pony Life episodes. So with two toys and a few animated appearances under her belt, I have to wonder- has Potion Nova grown on anyone since then? Do the people who fell for her early, right when her first toy was released still feel the same way about her as they did, then? Do you think a measly two toys- a brushable and a blind bag- is all we will get with this pony?
Personally, I still adore the crap out of this girl. I am still quite pleased with the backstory and character that I gave her. And even though it doesn’t match the character Hasbro has given her on the show, since then, I don’t want MY Nova to change. I still absolutely detest her stupid screen-printed eyes, though, and that is my only beef with this ridiculously adorable pony.
But what are you guys’ thoughts on Potion Nova, now that she has been around for a few months?
