Pony Corral / Twinkle Hope's Rockin' Spa
« on: May 21, 2017, 07:06:51 PM »
Remember Twinkle Hope? For those who need a refresher, Twinkle Hope is a G3 pony from '08 created by Hasbro to support the Give Kids the World Village, a non-profit resort for children with severe illnesses who travel to florida theme parks from foundations such as Make-A-Wish.

Looks like she's made a reappearance!

Give Kids the World has opened up Twinkle Hopes Rockin' Spa at their resort! Twinkle Hope was there for the ceremony, and it looks like she even has a G4 redesign!

Pony Corral / Risers?
« on: April 23, 2017, 07:39:44 AM »
Hey guys! I know some of you have risers for your pony displays that way you can make multiple rows visible.

Is there a place I can buy these? And recommendations? Or will I have to make my own?

I currently have hand built ones but when I move out my girls are going into a new display case and I'd like to get some for them.

Arts & Crafts Corral / Cross Stitching?
« on: February 27, 2017, 11:35:33 AM »
So, I decided to try out a new art form since drawing has lost it's spark for me. My boyfriends first suggestion was cross stitching, and I was really open to it because it's something my mother used to do when I was little. My first try went badly because I tried a complicated kit instead of something basic but my second try with a simpler kit went very well.

I was really hoping to see if anyone had some patterns they'd be willing to share for free or cheap? I can't buy right now but I can save links for later. I'm really looking for things like cartoon characters.I am browsing the web for patterns but hey, doesn't hurt to ask.

Please feel free to give me tips, I'm very much a beginner  :P

Pony Corral / FIM Comics Thread
« on: February 25, 2017, 12:57:34 PM »
I wanted to make a thread to keep anyone interested in the FIM comic up to date and also to help anyone interested in reading them figure out where to start!

Ongoing FIM comics:
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
My Little Pony: Legends of Magic (starts April)
My Little Pony: The Movie Prequel (releasing in June)

Completed FIM comics:
My Little Pony: Fiendship is Magic (5 issues)
My Little Pony: Micro Series (10 issues)
My Little Pony: Friends Forever (38 issues)

One Shots:
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Holiday Special
Equestria Girls Holiday Special
My Little Pony Deviations

Annuals:
Annual #1: Equestria Girls
Annual #2: Power Ponies
Annual #3: Guardians of Harmony

Comics on the shelves as of the end of May 2017:
Friendship is Magic #53 & #54
Legends of Magic #2

What is in each of these comics?

The main series recounts the adventures of the mane six happening off screen. The "arcs" can span from two to four issues and there are some oneshots. Lots of fun stories!

Friends Forever takes two ponies, ponies who are friends or ponies you'd never expect to see together, and tells a story about them. Each issue has two different ponies.

Fiendship is Magic is comics about the villains Tirek, The Sirens, Chrysalis, Sombra, and Nightmare Moon. Each issue focuses on one character.

Legends of Magic tells tales of the history of Equestria and the ponies who shaped it and explores the past.

The Micro Series was a series of one-shots where each issue focused on one character.

Deviations is an one shot exploring a "what if?" scenario.

I want to read the comics, how should I start?

If you are not looking for single issue comics there are many trade paperback, omnibus, and hardcover variations.

For those looking to buy in bulk I recommend purchasing the omnibus volumes. There are currently three omnibus volumes of the main series and two omnibus volumes of the Friends Forever series. The main series omnibus volumes have collected issues #1 - #37 as of now while the Friends Forever omnibus has covered issues #1 - #22

The other option is trade paperback, trade paperbacks cover four issues each. This goes for both the main series and friends forever. The main series has 12 so far, friends forever is up to 9.

Adventures in Friendship is a series of hardcover comics that contain one comic from the micro series and two comics from the friends forever series in each volume.

The Micro Series is collected in two trade paperback's called Pony Tales.

The Fiendship is Magic series is collected in a single trade paperback.

Annual comics are released in trade paperback, as is the EQG holiday special.

I'm not interested in the stories but I love the art, are there art books?

Sure is! There art art galleries, cover galleries, an art book and a treasury edition to showcase all the awesome covers and art from the comics!

Toy Box & Games Cupboard / Care Bears!
« on: January 13, 2017, 02:23:08 PM »
We could always use a Care Bears topic. Especially after seeing one WYP thread in particular, I though a discussion would be good.

I'll start off by talking a bit about my collection and my favorites.

Though everything is stored away in the attic for now, I own almost one of each bear from the 2002 relaunch excluding anything that was non-US. One Christmas my parents got me every bean bag 6"(?) bear, including true heart and noble heart. The only plush I no longer have was my big 3' Grumpy Bear! I believe he was donated. I currently don't own anything from before or after this line toy wise. I still have all my VHS tapes and DVDs in my room. This is the majority of the Nelvana series and the DiC series plus three movies and the original special.

My favorite bears are Wish Bear and Work of Heart Bear. My favorite cousins are Brave Heart and Noble Heart!

As for the lines, I love the original 80's bears, the 2002 bears, and I have mixed feelings about the current generation. Though I like how they look, I find the smaller selection to be boring (and goodness do I hate that cozy heart can't talk). The show is cute but not a favorite.

I'm very fond of the original 80's art work and toys as well as how they appeared in the DiC series.  :)

Off Topic / Flight Rising!
« on: January 08, 2017, 03:24:13 PM »
I think it's been almost a year now since the last time someone brought this site up on the forums, so I thought I'd share it here.

Flight Rising is a dragon breeding website akin to sites like Neopets or Pony Island, except with dragons! There are fun games to play, a big forum of people to talk to, apparel to dress your dragons in, rpg style battles, and lots of items to buy, sell, and collect!

You start by picking an elemental "flight" to join. Each flight has a private forum for its members and it's own reigning deity. The last week of every month all the flights join in to celebrate a specific deity for that month and get cool items sold only during that time! My flight is Ice, lead by the Icewarden, and our celebration, The Crystalline Gala, is this month!

After you join, you get to make your very own dragon! You can either make a Tundra, Fae, Guardian, or Mirror. You name them, choose a gender, and pick three colors from over 177 different colors! You'll then receive a randomly generated dragon of the opposite gender so you can breed them together. Breeding is the biggest mechanic of the site. Bred dragons can be sold to other players, exalted to serve their deity, or kept. There are lots of dragons to buy, and there are dozens of genes along with colors. If you want more dragons right away, the forums are full of people willing to give items and dragons to new members.

Dominance is also a big mechanic. Every week, the 11 flights compete for dominance in the realm. Dominance goes to the flight who exalted the most dragons, so most people buy dragons to exalt. The perks of having dominance include discounts on items, expansion discounts, and bonus currency.

Flight Rising is only open for registration for one week every month. Right now, registration is open from the 8th to the 14th and it will be closed again until the next month.

Here is a link to the welcome week announcement so you can learn a little for yourself and see the site!

If you choose the join and there's an opportunity for a referral, I'd love if you refer me! My name on there is Bekuno. My ID is #129633!

Here are some MLP dragons I've bred!

Toy Box & Games Cupboard / Build A Bear Merry Mission Reindeer
« on: November 20, 2016, 01:45:08 PM »
I've loved this collection ever since it came out, and I think I'm finally going to get one.

Does anyone else have one, or multiple? I would love to see!

Merry Mission is their Reindeer collection! You can buy a regular reindeer and get a medallion to name it after one of santa's reindeer, but they've added more! Glisten was added to the cast last year, she's a white deer. Her 2015 version was silver and her 2016 is gold (I prefer the silver). This year they've added younger reindeer, Tinsel and Twinkle, to the cast. I absolutely love Tinsel! I want to get him a little later.

Off Topic / Squee! My Very Own Drabbits!
« on: November 13, 2016, 05:45:39 PM »
Now let me answer the question I'm sure you have, "What the heck is a drabbit?"

Drabbits are "Dragon Rabbits". They are puppets created by Albert Alfaro Jr. who runs Imaginarium Galleries. Though centered in Pennsylvania, they travel all over the US to Renaissance Festival's and conventions. The company has been around for 40 years and specializes in these drabbit puppets among other creatures. Drabbits don't always look like dragons, some have attributes of wolves, unicorns, birds, monkeys, cats, giraffes, elephants, and more! http://www.imaginariumgalleries.com/

I first set eyes on them about six years ago one one of my first trips to the Texas Renaissance Festival and I was in love. Unfortunately I was still in high school and without a job so I couldn't afford one of my very own, but that's not so true anymore! In fact, I came home with two. All six of us who went came home with one, either purchased or won in the nightly raffles. I hope one day to afford one of the bigger more posable ones, but I'm very excited about my two girls.

Without further ado, I introduce you to my wonderful new girls, Squibbles and Alexandra!

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Squibbles is the little one. She is a Newborn Drabbit! These are the smallest and cheapest drabbits you can get. They can still be puppeted and have side to side and up and down head movements.

Alexandra is the big girl there. She is a Stuplet Drabbit. You can see she is quite bigger and has wings. The wings cannot be puppeted but they are fully posable, she also has a good range of head movement. This is two sizes up from the newborns and cost quite a bit more as well.

If you're curious about the puppeteering, their movements come from a long cable that can be discreetly slipped into a sleeve or the back of your shirt. You twist the end of the cable to have the heads move from side to side, and you press in to have the head move up and down. When you get to the much larger sizes they can have two cables, which will control wing movements, breathing, and wiggle abilities! They are made to perch on your shoulder and it's quite fun to startle curious folks who want to pet them.

I'd be happy to share my friends Drabbits as well. Four of them purchased newborns like Squibbles (all of which were quite adorable), and one got a smaller Stuplet like Alexandra.

Pony Corral / The Moon Has Risen!
« on: November 10, 2016, 04:19:22 PM »
One of my favorite animating pairs, DuoCartoonist, has finally released their much awaited animation "The Moon Rises"! If you feel you may recognize the name, their previous hit was "Children of the Night".

The animation is about Princess Luna and her decent into madness as her jealousy transforms her into Nightmare Moon. I've been following the process of it for months and I've been very anxious to see it completed. I know the Luna / NMM is a subject often explored, but I can't get enough of it. Especially when people can make things like this out of it!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2PCNKlddJY

It's not disney level of course, but the animation is very well done. The backgrounds are all digitally painted and they are just stunning. There are some hiccups, and it doesn't have all the same fierceness as the animatic did (especially with Luna ascending the stairs to the throne). Also, the ponies have their own style rather than just being G4 models, which is really nice. I know working on animating that hair must have driven them mad.

Just wanted to share because I haven't seen it posted here yet. It's quite a sight!

Pony Brag Arena / My very first G2 item!
« on: November 04, 2016, 02:14:32 PM »
So excited about this find! I don't anything G2, not even a pony. Not because I don't like them, but simply because I haven't come across any (I prefer buying in secondhand shops). I took a friend to visit the antique mall I frequent and I saw this sitting in one of the booths that sell a lot of toys. I always thought it looked kind of MLP-ish but I wasn't really sure. Then I lifted up the part of the canopy looking for a price and I saw the G2 logo and screeched!

Aside from being a little dusty and missing it's accessories and pony, it works just fine. It was only $3!

I saw a little birthday cake accessory with it but left it behind not knowing that it went to another playset. I hit myself in the head once I realized. I'm not really an accessory collector, but I try not to pass things up if I do see them. If it's still sitting there next time I go I'll explain it to the people and they'll probably just charge me a dollar for it.
