Felt like drawing some of the Equestria Girls. Sunset isn't totally on board with this plan.

Pony Corral / Through the Mirror Pinkie Pie?
« on: October 08, 2013, 06:05:21 AM »
I mean, I guess? It doesn't really resemble her Equestria Girls outfit, but I'm not sure what else it would be... maybe Winter Pinkie Pie? Those are kind of Christmasy colors, and that might be a snowflake on her eye.

I know hathorcat has compared the blind bag ponies to kinder eggs before, so this should be right up her ally!  :silly: These little figures have apparently shown up in stores in Russia:

(Personally, I'm not convinced that isn't Lucky Swirl pretending to be Twilight...)

Pony Corral / It's my birthday... put on a show!
« on: September 26, 2013, 02:28:36 PM »
Well, in a pinch, may your ponies put on a show! I want to see your showiest ponies, the ones who love attention, the ones who go all out to look their finest or entertain. The red carpet ensembles, the opera concerts, the fabulous hairstyles. The spectacular of the spectacular.

Pony Corral / Colorful molded G4 fakies
« on: September 09, 2013, 01:03:45 PM »
Also a couple who appear to be on the G3 side of things, but who look surprisingly boyish? Umm. Maybe it's just the contrast. Where did they even get some of those pieces? There's a molded Rarity tail! I am so far from understanding these.

I just got through another backlog of putting stuff up on eBay. If you like fakies, international exclusives, or random other stuff, you should check them out! Everything is scheduled to end in a couple days. Some previews:

Which are these? I've looked through Strawberry Reef and various fakie lists and not found any matches... they look a lot like Strawberry Reef's Mini/Prize Figures section image, but the toy pictured doesn't actually appear in the section.

Pony Corral / -CANCELED FOR LACK OF INTEREST-
« on: August 12, 2013, 04:07:19 PM »
Hi all,

Anyone and everyone is invited to come by my house on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at 1 PM for some quality pony time, lasting until whenever people lose interest I guess. There will be food of some sort, quantity and sort to be determined pending an actual guest list, so RSVP if you like eating things :)

The idea behind this meetup is simple. My Little Pony is a series of toys. To the extent that it is a series of TV shows and specials, those same animations are themselves elaborate commercials for said toys. The purpose of toys is to be played with. Therefore, we should play with toys!

My collection leans all but exclusively toward the G4 end of things, with ~140 different blindbags, a dozen or so playful ponies (in severe need of brushing), and various miscellany. The house is also full of legos, playmobil, blocks, tinker toys, paper and colorful pens... basically anything we could conceivably need to create environments for these pony pals to live and have adventures in.

If you want to bring anything of your own to share, be it more toys (even ones from other generations), official playsets (G3.5 Ponyville playsets would probably work really well here), or whatever, feel free, but do so knowing that these ponies are to be played with, so if you're intent on keeping some particular pony or other in absolute mint condition, maybe don't bring that one. :P Consider also making a list of anything you do bring for such purposes, so you don't lose anything...

If you want to bring anything to sell, or money to buy stuff with, that's absolutely fine. I know I could be convinced to sell pretty much anything for the right price, and there are various things I'm specifically looking to dispose of, including an EU-exclusive Dewdrop Dazzle bb. But again, the focus is playing! Let's (re)discover the magic of make-believe. If nothing else, the things make damn good playing pieces for board games.

I live in Santa Cruz, CA, and will dispense my specific address by PM to anyone who's coming. You can get to Santa Cruz by Greyhound, or by the Highway 17 bus from San Jose, or under your own steam in your own automobile.

Pony Corral / Rainbow Dash in socks

Or, at least, socks are my best guess! From a seemingly reputable seller who tends to have all sorts of unreleased goodies, but I find myself sincerely doubting this one's plausibility as an upcoming product. Looks more like someone found a random RD figure -- maybe rejected for the eyes being too far up, or for the glue marks on the neck -- and went to town. Still, pretty cute!

Pony Corral / Bringing a pony along with you
« on: June 21, 2013, 07:31:53 PM »
Some people talk about treating specific ponies as role models. I don't have that, but I do find that the little blindbag folks are the perfect size to shove into a pocket when going out for the day, and that certain associations develop from there. I bring Pinkie Pie along to remind myself to have fun at parties; Dewdrop Dazzle or Beachberry or Sea Swirl when going to the beach; Rainbow Dash for being awesome; Twilight Sparkle for intellectual stuff like board games or actually going to the library; Shining Armor or Twilight Velvet for family matters; Magnet Bolt or Electric Sky for computer things; Cherry Berry for pizza because she's kinda pizza-colored; and so on. Sometimes it's just whoever looks especially pretty that day -- Holly Dash and Diamond Rose get a lot of mileage -- but a lot of the time I shoot for someone to serve as a reminder of how I'm supposed to be acting, what to get excited about, etc. And they really don't take up very much room at all.

Anyone else do anything like this? Or are yours all strictly indoor ponies?

Pony Corral / Who's this Spike?

Just noticed this guy on eBay, and can't seem to place him. The official toys I've seen Spike in have him on all fours, even in the Royal Ball set where he has the same bowtie. He stands in the Busy Book molded figure, but that looks quite different and doesn't have a bowtie. So who is this? I'm not sure what the size is supposed to be, either, so I guess conceivably he'll be included with these three? Or am I just forgetting something, in which case, sorry

Pony Corral / Does the local economy hate me?
« on: March 25, 2013, 01:37:45 PM »
So I live in Santa Cruz, California, where the only toy store is Toys R Us. CVS Pharmacy had a couple boxes of wave 1 blindbags, and generally has a playful pony or two on hand; Walgreens had a couple fashion style Rainbow Dashes for a little while; but other than that, it's all TRU. Possibly as a consequence, the prices are... a bit more extreme than I see other people posting about. Blindbags are $3.49 each, plus tax. They were $1.49 when they were first introduced, I think, but rose quickly in response to demand. (Although this does have the side effect of making the $7.99 special three packs a real bargain!) I forget the exact price for the playfuls, but it's around $9.

Can anyone make me feel better by saying I'm not alone in this? That there are other places in the world where these things don't cost $2 and $5 respectively like I've seen people mention?

Pony Corral / My Busy Books: My Little Pony
« on: March 08, 2013, 12:56:48 AM »
"My Busy Books" have licensed the MLP brand before for "Welcome to Ponyville," which included a number of IMHO quite reasonable looking pony figures, plus several accessories. I haven't seen any other posts here about this, but now they're branching into G4, and instead of including accessories, they've skipped straight to twelve pony figures. What do those figures look like?
visitors can't see pics , please register or login

They look absolutely incredible! Well, except for Rarity's face and Spike's proportions. But look at those! Where can you find a Rainbow Dash with better hair? And Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo have never had toys before outside of the playful pony line. Nor has Spike, I don't think? Click image for ridiculously higher resolution.

So far I've only heard of this being found in Walmart, and since the nearest Walmart's over an hour away, this is the first time I've truly been tempted to make the trip....
