hey all, im finally weeding thru the shelves and boxes and bags and seeing what all i have that i dont really need/have space for anymore.

so im starting this off with a handful of MIB G3s that friends and family kept getting me (not really into the G3 scene but left them in the box just-in-case) i have no clue what the value is on these things as im a G1 girl but i trust you guys to be honest with any offers/tips you may have on their values. i will add more pics upon request =]

i will list any of the random prices ive found for stuff, but remember im flexible, these are just averages ive found off of completed listings etc.

*note that most of the boxes are a little squished and have some surface dirt- yay basement babies!
i plan on going over them carefully with a damp rag but havent gotten to it yet.

my boy, Clamborglitorax, well his original form. i had every intention of doin his current colorscheme but the model is bloody expensive then i stopped running the game he was in so the idea was backburnered. he was gonna have all of the metallic colors worked into his natural blue... silver on the face and underside, gold down the backridges, then copper, brass, and bronze worked into legs and wings.

B next to Melisande for scale... i finished painting one wing and all of his body frills, the rest is jsut the red basecoat i put on him (which was way too brown, i fiddled with it too much when i first started, shoulda left him bright red and shaded down... grr. harder to brighten the highlights now)
i keep thinking of picking him up again but last time i was working on him was like 2 years ago, and the mixed paint i prepared for him has long dried up, so ill have to try to colormatch what i was blending with... so im solving that problem Eluluu style... by ignoreing it some more. =P

a quilt i was making for a friend, (ive ranted about this project before... when the entire topsheet got eaten by the washing machine... this is the new and improved version=P ) its a beast... roughly 6'4" give or take a few inches.

and the backsheet. all i have left to do on it is finish attaching the 3 sides on the topsheet, toss it on the frame, and get stitching... the major holdup right now is im gonna be making custom stencils off of designs ive found online, and im printerless, and need to fiddle with the sizes anyways, so onto the shelf with it!

ooh ive finally thought of a reason (ish) for this thread.. apart from letting me successfully kill half an hour making it... lets see your projects that you just dont quite have the nerve to pick up and finish!

im mainly trying to work up the energy to do something constructive... either the quilt... the new ddr mini by brains been cookin up, or another project i didnt take pics of yet cause its not really started yet... it involves a miniatures army-type game... my friend is making an army of Gi-Joe stuff, so ive decided to do My Little Pony and try to beat him at his own game... only problem is... its super teeny, like 15mm scale or something if i remember correctly.. basically think of painting about 50 individual miniatures about as big as a penny. AFTER sculpting horns and wings on them... ugh. the painting will be fun, but im putting off the sculpting. (and ive decided to base them on flatbacked rhinestones so i can irritate him further by saying i bedazzled my army)

hey everyone, i was prepping a pony for a custom ima get done, i wanted something in a serena/tic tac toe pose, which we were gonna prime and paint to white... so i started deflocking a scrumptous i had on my shelves that i wasnt too attached to (she was in decent shape but she was white which was awesome as it would be easy to repaint) well halfway thru mutillating her i swore when iw alked by the shelves... shes in the wrong pose. =[ not terribly off the mark but definately not what i was looking for. i needed serenas more delicate/shy pose for what i had in mind...
 
i didnt want to bait out my tic tac toe or serena cause TTT is mint and serena has those medallions on her so grr... i went online to check the G1pose guide to see if i was forgetting someone and saw Scoops listed as the pose... AND shes white! perfect! i was pretty sure i had her, as i remembered havin a white and purple taf that i wasnt super thrilled with... so i scampered to my shelves, giddy that theres a $5-10 pony i can use for it... but no scoops... turns out what i have is a Love Petal, in pretty good/great condition (tips of her hair are starting to think about frizzing) but the guide has her listed as being closer to $15, and the prices in my book are usually lower than the real thing-yay economy...
 
so now i have a choice to make, do i butcher this second good condition pony or do i try to trade her for one in worse shape for it? OR even better- does anyone have a white bait in the serena/tic tac toe/ scoops pose theyd be willing to bait-swap for? i have tons of G1s in my bin for sale/trade/bait
 
o and i also now have a half deflocked scrumptous if anyone wants to bait swap for her too lol. her eyes are removed but her symbol is intact still. if not ill finish prepping her and toss her in the bin.

her one side has raised bumpy patches that i believe is damage to the plastic itself, looks like shes been rubbed on the sidewalk or something. im hoping it might be glue tho, ill prolly try a few different grades of sandpaper on her to smooth it out.

paint on her face is pretty rubbed, and her eyes are a little dirty but im sure theyll clean up. eyelashes are in good shape at least (and her trigger still works, if sluggishly) when i take the custom hammer to her im hoping shell still work, but im not betting on it. =P

curse everyone who takes a marker to toys!!! sigh the people wrote the price ON her... no sticker or tag... not even under her foot which is the only semi-forgiveable place to tag a pony... then they lowered her price... a good thing and a bad thing. good cause she was a dollar cheaper for me, bad cause... CMON!
 
im not sure when im gonna actually start work on her, im still sorting out who shes gonna be. so far the candidates are:
 
Truly- pretty but a little plain, part of me wants to do multicolored hair so prolly not her
Gingerbread- always liked her, but i worry about doin an eye swap and worst case scenarios if i try dremeling a recess to drop gems into... tho maybe eyepatches will be 'in' again =P
SweetStuff- same as above
Sundance- i was never a huge SD fan, but it kinda makes sense that she should be my first proto custom (if it goes well i may have to keep an eye out for more of them to make more, i seem to have an odd string of luck finding these things that people say theyve never even seen in the flesh =P) sure shes the same colors as truly, and not multitoned like what i kind of want to do, but something about its shape says Sundance...
Raincurl- i seem to have a thing for white earth ponies... i was originally leaning toward her as an option but now im kinda eyeing Sundance... figure start simpler and work my way up from there.

hmm, now having said all that i think i answered my own question. i think ima make her Sundance... (tho knowing me ill change my mind a million times til i finally commit and buy the hair etc =P)
 
ill post updates when i start taking her apart and cleaning her up... youll be the first to know if she shatters when i try to open her up. =P and any tips or ideas on how to go about this custom are welcome as it will be my first serious custom (lol leave it to me to choose an oddball to start with)

 no accessories and the box is really battered but it looks like most of the castle is still there, with some stickers still attached to it. it can use a good scrubbing but well see what i can do with it... im mildly baffled by how it fits together, was fiddling with it by looking at the box but im not sure if im missing a wall or something. =] but hey, not bad for five bucks.
 
 

ive recently, with the help of my sister, gotten some pics of a project ive recently finished (well sorta... still need to line it but thats pending finding the right fabric for it). i play a larp called NERO, and play a Biata (basically a bird type person) and kinda went overboard with my costume... to show youre a Biata all you need to do is incorporate some feathers to your costume and hair, but i kinda had an idea that snowballed on me which lead to half a year of sewing... and i now have full scale 'wings' for my character =] cant wait til i fall in the first mud puddle i see =P

yep... hundreds upon thousands of handsewn feathers.. with white rabbit fur at the shoulders. my fingertips hated me for this one...
 
the boys are forever giving me a hard time for playing in a bright white costume... so much oxy clean and foul language to keep it that color... =P so far its survived quite a few muddy events... had to replace my boots a few times tho haha. the wings just made it thru their second event without any mishaps *crosses fingers and knocks on wood*

im thinking of lineing them in white or ivory flannel (so theyll be warmer and wont really encourage leafmatter etc to cling to them like fleece etc) and maybe a very soft dove grey at the inner shoulder area so any staining wont show as badly from wear, since they cant really be seriously cleaned. i figure ill only really be able to surface wash or wipe them down. ive replaced so many feathers on the main costume because of them getting matted and basically getting ruined from handwashing (the belled sleeves have boa-like feathers along the cuffs) and i want to try to avoid that happening to the wings at all costs lol
 

im procrastinating on my latest project, a burgandy and cream crusader's cross quilt for my bestie, just have one final seam on the border then onto the rack with it. im not really sure what i want to say or ask on the topic, im just bored and mindlessly rambling. =P
 
i want to finish this one so i can start working on another lol i have too many ideas backlogging in my mind and need to clear my plate. next will prolly be one for the bf of the wizard from final fantasy 1, and the stitchwork im thinking of doing the world map as soon as i research what it looks like (i myself have only played FF7-9, so that idea may get scrapped as soon as i see it)
 
but the one i WANT to work on next will be one for me (finally. lol all the quilts ive done have been for other people) which i have dubbed the 'insanity' quilt. itll be all 1" squares, handsewn (like all my projects.) prolly a ballpark of 5.5-6' square, and the top will be a pixulated image of Ringlets, the Rainbow Curl pegasus. ive already mapped out my diagram, just need to get the cloth and work on it. (not entirely sure why i chose ringlets, sure i love that pony, but my favorite will always be Fizzy, Lofty, and Masquerade... ill prolly make one of them later.)

i was debating what id do for the backsheet on it, i had a few simple ideas that i was mulling over, but then had an epiphany... but the collector in me balks at the idea as the artist in me is giggling... what do you think of using a real vintage MLP bedsheet? i think it would look fantastic, but im torn, cause id have to cut and sew something that belongs on my shelves. suuure i already have a bedsheet like that so the one id use would be one id buy specifically for this purpose... but still.

hey everyone, ive been thinking of joining up with this message board for a while but kept putting it off cause im notorious for forgetting to check my email etc but i finally caved. =P
im 28, i live a stones throw from Chicago, and ive been collecting G1 about my whole life. its a hobby that comes and goes, tho at the moment its in full swing. ill be making wish/trade lists that will be changing semi often as im weeding thru my collection. sadly about half of it is going to be going to ebay because im a picky collector. =[ i had them at my parents house and they got a bit dirty so ive been scrubbing the lot of them and sorting onto the shelves for whats staying and into the bin for whats going. so anyways i decided i might as well finally make a login over here and see if anyone is interested in tradeing before i ebay them (most are in good/great condition, with a decent amount of bait from lemon-lots on ebay, im just a bit of a nazi when it comes to hair and i have a strict no cancer policy with my babies)
sorry if i seem to ramble on and off topic, lol i have a nasty cold/allergy/sinus infection/whatever it is and im heavily medicated atm =P
aaaanyways, ill cut this off here before i start repeating myself. ill post the inventory of the to-go bin once im done cleaning the other half of the collection. rough estimate is prolly 150-200ish ponies that ima be getting rid of.
