It seems kind of matte - maybe Kitten? Any thoughts?

Pony Corral / Customised Nirvanas
« on: February 24, 2012, 01:52:30 AM »
So I got a bunch of ponies today from a lovely lady who lives in my town and is also a pony collector. She was having a clear out, and I bought a large lot that was a mixture of really baity ponies mixed in with some pretty good, some near mint and some she just didn't want/have room for.

Anyway, included was a custom she got a while ago whose paint was starting to chip a bit, etc.

So I'm rummaging through my new haul, lalala...look at the custom, doobedoo. Turn her over.
Look at her foot.

ITALY.

Look again.

ITALY.

Balls.

So now I have a customised Italian pony - she's a pretty common Italian, but still. I winced.

So, people...please, please be a responsible customiser and double check your ponies before customising them. I know a lot of nirvanas can be in pretty bad shape, but so many people would love to have them regardless of their condition.

Customs / Rehairing with rehairing tool
« on: February 21, 2012, 06:22:25 AM »
So I generally use the needle-and-thred method of rehairing - it's neat, tidy, and reasonably fast, for me. But for a custom I'm making at the moment, I'm going to need to use a rehairing tool.
My questions: how do you secure the hair once it's through? I could see using glue for a G1, or maybe G3, but it's a G4 and her head hole is so tiny I'm not sure how I'd go about it.

Any suggestions? They seem semi-secure at the moment, but not as secure as I'd like - one came out when I was giving it a gentle brush to get out any little tangles.

Customs / Deflocking experts

So I'm doing some deflocks at the moment and one is just...wow. Giving me grief.

I know there's a couple of members who are deflocking experts that I could maybe ask for advice - any takers?

Customs / Baiting Bubblefish
« on: February 12, 2012, 06:03:58 PM »
So I generally don't like baiting or customising G1s. I think there are exceptions - bad cancer and regrind etc on common ponies...well, I can understand that. But I have to admit, I wince a little when I see people baiting Big Brothers and stuff, unless they're in really, really bad shape.

Anyway, I have a pretty dire Bubblefish that I got in a 'bait' lot. She has scratches, glitterglue, stains, missing mane plugs, no pocket, bad pindot, etc. The only things she has going for her are that she has no cancer, no regrind and no actual body damage, beyong what's on the surface.
My thoughts are that I, personally, couldn't completely restore her - firstly, I don't sculpt, which would be needed to remake her pocket.

 So, what should I do?

If there's anyone who would genuinely be interested in restoring her, then I'd be more than happy to give her away.
If not, I could either completely customize her, or give her a re-customisation - customise her, but try and keep it close to her original looks. Or I could try and enlist the help of someone to sculpt a pocket for her, but it seems like an awful lot of time and effort for two people to restore a non rare/HTF pony.

I'm currently leaning towards re-custom. What do you all think?

Pony Corral / Ice crystal vs minty
« on: February 09, 2012, 03:19:09 AM »
I'm trying to find out how close in colour G1 Minty and Ice Crystal are. Can anyone that has both compare and let me know, or even better, take a comparison peeekture?

Pony Corral / Twist's streak
« on: January 26, 2012, 03:17:55 PM »
...is it fading pink, or white?!
I've seen it called both! Both of mine look like white, but it's possible they've faded. Although they look white even INSIDE the head. Hmmm.

Anyone have any thoughts either way? Pictures are always excellent, too! ;)

MLP Nirvana / Twist!
« on: January 26, 2012, 09:02:55 AM »
I adore Twist. She's my all time favourite.
So I'm wondering...just how rare is Brazilian Twist, and how much does she usually go for? Also, are there any other international or variant Twists, or is it just Brazil? Was she released as a non-SS, as well? I thought she was, but...I've never seen or heard of a non SS Twist who wasn't Brazilian or deflocked.

Thanks, lovelies!

Customs / What to use for Perfume Puff hair
« on: January 16, 2012, 02:13:45 PM »
I have a friend who asked me if I could maybe make her a G3 Red Roses.
I know a bunch of people have made PP customs. What are the options to use for their hair, and what do you think is best?

Customs / Light gold/blonde hair comparisons
« on: January 15, 2012, 05:56:13 PM »
So I'm looking for a very pale, goldywhite blonde hair colour for a WIP. I'm hoping for that stereotypical 'swedish milkmaid' kind of colour. I'm currently thinking one of the following:
Goldilocks
Tiramisu
Marshmellow
Sunlight
Golden Wheat
Buttercreme

Or possible a blend. But the only one I actually have out of the above is Marshmellow, and while it sems like a reasonable match, I'm not sure it quite goes with the body colour, and it might be too pale.
Does anyone have any/all of those colours that they could post a comparison pic of?

Or what do you think would be the best colour?

Thanks!

Edit: I'm heading towards Buttercreme or Goldilocks. Pictures of customs using any of these colours owuld be appreciated, too!

MLP Nirvana / Italian Seashell hair colour
« on: January 15, 2012, 05:05:29 PM »
I have an Italian Seashell who is bald and needs rehairing...but I have no idea what exact colour her hair would be.
Does anyone know if there's a dollyhair match, or what would be closest? I know regular Seashell is Lucky Clover, could anyone post comparison pics or tell me if they're the same?

Thanks lovelies!
