Is anyone else having problems with Photobucket right now? I'm trying to update my sales. I just uploaded some pics, and they look fine on Photobucket when viewed as a group. But when I try to click on a photo individually, it just looks gray. If I copy the direct link and paste it in the Arena, the pic just comes out as an X (broken link).
Ugh, this site is driving me nuts; I never really liked it.

Can anyone help me ID these aqua barrettes, please? visitors can't see pics , please register or loginI know the hearts barrettes go with Dream Beauties, either Shimmering Beauty Stardazzle or Rainbow Beauty Morning Glory, but I'm not sure which is which. They may belong to the same pony, though the bottom one is a touch darker than the one above it. Maybe the top one is a bit faded, or they just came from slightly different batches. They both look pretty opaque to me. I've read that Stardazzle's is supposed to be a little iridescent or translucent or something, and I don't really see that here with either of these. I do have Crystalline's magenta double lilies barrette and can confirm that it's translucent. (Well, I bought it separately from her, so since she's not MIB I guess I can't confirm for sure.) I know chipsteRJ posted a pic of DB barrettes a few months ago, and she had the same translucent magenta double lilies barrette, and she also thought it to be Crystalline's. For the bow clips, I know the top light aqua one goes with UK Great Hair Highlights. I just got the second one in a pony accessory lot, and I thought it would be the same, but it's bluer. The difference seems too big to account for fading or batch variations, but I don't know, they're still pretty close. And I guess it doesn't got with Great Hair Ringlets either; hers is pink. Does anyone know anything about this? It's definitely the same mold, but it might not even be MLP. I did buy the lot from an American seller. Thanks! Don't these little barrettes just make you want to go  ?

I now have an extra pink/yellow/blue/lavender pastel apron for the Satin Slipper Sweet Shoppe. I think it's the version that came with the mail order playset. (For those who don't know, the regular version has purple stripes.) I know this variation is quite rare, but I'm not sure how much it's worth. I'm sure some people would be willing to pay more than others. Who's interested? visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Questions, please, for fellow collectors who also obsess over accessories: For the second group of Flutters (Tropical Breeze, Wingsong, Wind Drifter, & Cloud Puff), did the US and UK versions come with different ribbons? I think they each had a different color, not like the gold and silver ones that came with the first group. But I'm also under the impression that the US versions came with gold-edged ribbons similar to princess ribbons, while the UK versions had colored metallic ribbons similar to those that came with Summer Wings. Is the pink clam shell that came with US sea pony Seawinkle the same as the pink clam shell that came with UK Surf Dancer (blue with yellow hair)? And finally, which UK sea ponies came with the yellow brush and comb set? Thanks! I'm confused.

I just got a complete (brown) My Pretty Pony; she looked NM in the auction pics. But when she arrived, she had a bunch of white gunk on her eyes; it looked like white-out or dried toothpaste! I don't think it was applied on purpose because the eyelashes weren't covered. Maybe it was some kind of rust? I got most of it off with some careful scrubbing, but there was a bit in the corners that I couldn't reach. I'm wondering if this is a common problem for My Pretty Pony.

It might sound hard to believe, but unlike every other girl I knew growing up, I've NEVER owned a Barbie before. I just wasn't into them when I was little; for me, it was all MLP, plush toys, and some other things, mostly art supplies and creative toys. I saw Barbie as a competitor to the ponies I loved.
MLP will always be #1 in my book, but today I collect 80's toys in general. And now that I'm a mature collector, I can finally appreciate Barbie. Realizing that no respectable 80's toy collection should be without Barbies, I decided to start keeping an eye out for my first. I wanted prominent examples from the 80's, preferably complete and in NM condition, and I didn't want to spend much because ponies eat the lion's share of my toy budget.
So today I stopped by an antique/resale mall, and there was a stall with some vintage toys and Barbies in collectible condition. Eventually I picked two to take home: Astronaut and Dream Glow, both from 1985, both $9 each, and both in deboxed condition and complete with instructions and all accessories. I might not know much about Barbies, but I can judge condition, and they're both very mint. I'm not really into MIB toys, so I'm happy to get them loose in this condition; their hair hasn't even been touched.
Price-wise, I think I did pretty well, especially for the Dream Glow, which looks like it can get expensive MIB. There were others I looked at but passed up that I listed below. If there's anything that I should go back and grab, let me know.
1986 Jewel Secrets Whitney for $9, deboxed, complete and mint. From Ebay, it looks like this one might be somewhat valuable; should I go back and snatch her up?
Peaches 'n Cream, $6, good condition, but played-with, and not complete
Lilac & Lovely, Sears exclusive, $9, deboxed, complete and mint
Horse Lovin' Skipper, $6, played-with. I liked her, but I think her lasso was broken, and she had some wear (faux suede pants were flaking).

Mermaid Barbie from 1991, MIB, technically not from the 80's, but I remember and like her
I'd like to keep an eye out for other Barbies from the 80's. I'm not going to try to collect all of them, but I'd like to eventually get the major releases that were designed for play, the ones that most children of the 80's would recognize and remember. So which ones do you think I should be looking for in order to get a good sampling of this decade? I made a list of some I can remember/find, but I'm sure you guys can help me expand it.

I like the ones from the top half the best; they scream "Barbie in the 80's" to me.
And can anyone recommend a collector site with good information about Barbie in the 80's? (It doesn't have to be limited to that decade, but it would be more helpful to me if it would help me focus on that time period.) I need something like a "Dream Valley" site, except for Barbies. I google searched, but didn't really find any sites I liked.
The stall's owner happened to arrive just as I was leaving, so we chatted for a while about Barbies and toy collecting in general; she was really nice! She said she got the ones I bought and some others from a lady who sold off her collection of deboxed dolls, so that's why they'd never been played with. She said she had more at home, and I gave her my phone number in the hope that we could arrange a private sale. And you never know; she might find some ponies for me too someday!

I love this show, though I've never been into comic books and superhero stuff. I just love it for the collecting culture it portrays, a bunch of guys waxing nostalgic and geeking out over things they've loved since they were kids. And sometimes they deal in 80's toys, which is fun for me to watch. In tonight's new episode, a brony came into the store with some FiM figures and talked enthusiastically about them, but the guys didn't seem too impressed.  But Kevin Smith (the store owner/leader/creator of Clerks and the Jay & Silent Bob characters) was at least already familiar with the brony phenomenon. Anyway, I always enjoy seeing a pony reference. Did anyone else watch?

Can anyone confirm whether Taps (yellow baby ladybug, original version) came with a bonnet? I can't find a pic of a complete one anywhere. Ghostofthedoll says that a bonnet was one of the accessories, and the site is usually pretty accurate, but there are occasional mistakes. Thanks!
