In the interest of full disclosure, I will add that the artwork in the Mountain Boy comic is not quite as good as in the other two . . .

So I was watching the Charming Birthday G3 special the other day . . . Basic plot: the ponies of Ponyville want to surprise Kimono on her birthday but she is almost impossible to surprise because she's so wise. As they ponder what to get her, one of the ponies suggests they make her "a charm bracelet to replace the very, very special one she lost." They never mention her previous charm bracelet again. I want to hear what YOU think about Kimono's original charm bracelet. What made it so special? What did it look like? And how did she lose it? Inquiring ponies want to know!

I don't know about you guys, but I remember getting the brochure advertising Satin 'n Lace and "her cousin, Baby Lucky, the very first BOY pony". To be honest, I did not find this strange in the least at the time, nor did I wonder at the lack of a groom. (Tux 'n Tails was not released until several years later.)
But obviously the UK comic creators were more diligent about answering this question! Where DID the "very first boy pony" come from? Wow, what an amazing horse! He won the Derby, and now the Preakness . . . Just like in the Derby, Bodemeister had the lead and then near the end of the race, WHOOSH, I'll Have Another rocketed forward to challenge him. Much closer race than the Derby was!

I'm going to be holding a contest soon with the G3 red SDCC superhero pony (or $50 if the winner prefers) as a prize, so be sure to look for posts about that! I don't have complete sets of the comics but I do have quite a few, and would love to share them with other pony fans!

I just discovered a new comic strip that I think a lot of people here would enjoy! It's about a young girl who discovers a unicorn named Marigold Heavenly Nostrils and becomes best friends with her. It has a very "Calvin & Hobbes" feel to it, and Marigold's design is a lot like classic unicorns, like The Last Unicorn. (Lion-like tail, cloven hooves, etc. Very elegant!)
