Off Topic / Best Photo Hosting Site?
« on: November 30, 2016, 12:38:41 PM »
I'm not technical at all, plus being of an age where we didn't have the internet at school I struggle with finding out what is best.

So, what is the best all-round photo hosting site? I have Flickr and Photobucket - Flickr is great, and Photobucket has been having a midlife crisis recently.  I have only heard of other hosting sites (and I Googled some in the poll  )

I don't take that many photos any more, something I need to remedy soon. Being able to put pictures in multiple albums, being easy to upload, and having an editing tool all factor stringly in what I want from a host.

Pony Corral / UK Ponycon
« on: November 28, 2016, 02:29:52 AM »
I am hoping this years is in the south west, I went to Cardiff three years ago and thanks to anxiety and being really heavily pregnant I missed loads.

I would love for it to be held at the Travelodge at Taunton, or the Holiday Inn - amazing travel links, nice location, Pizza Hut nearby.... :D Even better would be the new Premier Inn/Holiday Inn/whatever it is being built at Minehead. No Pizza Hut but the beach is right nearby.

Pony Corral / Wig sprays on pony hair?
« on: November 27, 2016, 12:52:53 AM »
I'm sure this has been discussed before, but does anyone use wig sprays on pony hair?

I am currently sorting out my pony room, and some of my ponies have bad storage hair. Some are fine with a quick brush over but some have gone really dry and frizzy. I don't want to have to wash every ponies hair, and do not want to start using human hair products (they sit on synthetic hair and attract dirt, it's fine as a temporary thing but for long-term I won't use them). I'd love something that I can lighty spray on, give a quick whizz over with a comb and have it look better.

So, synthetic wig sprays. Yay or nay? I have had a Google and it also seems you can make your own up by using 50% fabric conditioner and 50% water. Is it really that simple?

Pony Corral / What is your geekiest MLP fact?
« on: November 26, 2016, 12:00:31 AM »
I love geekery and I especially love pony geekery, so I would love you to share your geekiest pony fact. Stuff like Bonnie Zacherle nearly didn't get to release MLP as the ponies didn't do enough, baby MLPs are 'made' from their mothers' reflection in a mirror, and that Nancy Cartwright (voice of Bart Simpson) voiced Gusty and one of the Bushwoolies in the first MLP movie.

What are your favourite arcane and geeky facts?

Pony Corral / Collectors Books
« on: November 25, 2016, 01:07:42 PM »
Have there been any more collectors books after Summer's G3.5-G4 transition book please? Is anyone thinking about doing one? I know there is a G1 merch book on a limited run, unsure of any others though.

Pony Corral / Packing away playsets...pics and opinions please!
« on: November 25, 2016, 01:05:21 PM »
I know I should never have kept the playsets out...I have become far too attached to them! But I have run out of room. If I can squish the playsets (G4 and G3.5) away under the bed then I will have so much more room. I love the look of ponies all lined up nicely on display and the playsets do tend to ruin it a bit but I LOVE playsets. So much love for playsets.

What do you do when the time comes to banish stuff? Do you have photos? To help me with the transition please post photos of your playsets taking up too much room. I miss mine and they aren't even in the box yet.

Pony Corral / Funko figures...worth waiting for?
« on: October 11, 2014, 01:16:55 PM »
I don't have any of the Funkos. Well, I have one bighead Twi, and that's about it.

The problem I have is money. They cost money, which I don't tend to have much of. So I've  decided I'll wait and buy them secondhand in a couple years time. People get bored with collecting stuff all the time, and MLP is ridiculously popular right now, so I figure there will be a glut of secondhand MLP rattling about on eBay in the not too distant future.

Will this happen? Or are Funkos always going to be ridiculous sort-after and I may as well resign myself to the fact that unless I win the Lotto I'm never going to get them all?

Off Topic / The Adventures of Abney & Teal

This programme just doesn't get enough love! I adore it, so does my one year old son :)

It's about two rag doll, Abney and Teal, who live on an island in the middle of a pond, in an undisclosed park in a city. Also starring are Neep, a creature reminiscent of a turnip, the Poc Pocs, seven little wooden/seed creatures named for the noise they make, and Bop, a furry seal-like animal who spends his time drinking pond water from a teacup and making bubbles.

It's very 'Bagpuss' in feel, has that sort of retro-ish quality to it. One of my fave episodes is when Abney  has a space on his shelf so Teal and Neep fish an old radio out of the pond for him to fill the space. The Poc Pocs trancing out to the static is awesome :D

There is a severe lack of toys though :( I managed to pick Neep up from Tescos when he was £3. There are lots of books and Abney, Teal and Bop plushies, but I would sell my left leg for a family of Poc Pocs.

Has anyone else seen this? Or found any toys apart from the stuffed and bean plushies?

The Dollhouse / Pinypons!
« on: September 25, 2014, 01:15:12 PM »
Does anyone else collect these? They are  ridiculous cute and I love that you can swap them about. I don't know much about them, I think they were available in simpler form in the 80s I had something very similar) and were re-released a couple of years back.

If I see one in a shop, it ends up coming back with me! Thankfully I don't see them that often :D I would love some more though.

My fave is the one in the middle, although I do alternate between her and the Watermelon one!

The OH has found a doll in a charity shop. She has 1966 on her back. She has beddy bye eyes, which  he assumed are broken, and a 'peg' in her back which he assumed works the eyes. Apparently she looks very similar to my 1980s Sindy (think she is nicknamed 'Smirky Sindy?) The doll in question also has two-click knees.

Does this sound familiar to anyone at all please? Sounded like the Sleepy Sindy but I don't understand the peg...plus I'm not sure she would have the mold date on her back? I know there are a coupld of swimming Barbies with back pegs but know nothing about Barbies, and with so little to go on Google isn't helpful.

Anyone out there who can help me?

Wanted! / Wanted - Styling Strands Fluttershy & UK MLP comic Feb issue
« on: February 11, 2014, 11:40:53 AM »

I have always had a bit of a thing for Sylvanian Families, but when they came out in the UK (1987?)  I had both feet firmly planted in the MLP/Julip/Sindy horse camp, and although I like SF I felt that wanting them would be unfaithful to my ponies. I *did* get the three baby owls though, felt guilty as heck but they lived with my Julips (whoever heard of a stable with no owls lol)

I have never really got over that, I have seen them at charity shops and bootsales but always left them behind. Mainly because I can't afford another collection! But the displays in shops and all those little accessories.... *dies of the cute at the memory*  I have a thing for the boats and also the flower stall and vegetable patch? Teeny tiny veggies and flowers...

Anyway I *may* have finally caved in.

Must try and find a pattern to make her a dress or something - this is a Bratz top and looks a bit peculiar!

Anyways please show me your Sylvanian Families, Calico Critters, Woodland Friends or any other similars :)
