Pony Corral / EQLA, SoCal Pony Con, Sept. 4-6
« on: August 30, 2015, 01:07:48 AM »
Is anyone in Cali going to Equestria LA? https://equestriala.com/ It's next weekend, and it's happening right next to Disneyland! In fact, it's even organized by our own BabyMedley! :frolic: This year they're trying to make it all-gens friendly, so I'm hoping I'll see some G1 goodies in the artists alley!

I'll be there, and if anyone else is going, I'd love to say hi!

Post Merge: August 30, 2015, 12:50:49 PM

Maybe I shouldn't have posted this at midnight, LOL! I'm tempted to go to Disneyland the next day, because I heard some folks were planning on making a group run together, then I realized it's Labor Day weekend... :yikes:

Pony Corral / Pony Plush at Dave & Buster's!
« on: August 25, 2015, 07:07:39 PM »
I haven't seen any topics about this started in the last week or so, so if I managed to miss one, feel free to merge this!

I went to the mall a couple of weeks ago, and as I was walking around, I noticed a little girl with a unfamiliar-looking pony plush sticking out of a D&B bag. No biggie, I figured, her arms probably got tired and it's a Beanie Baby or something. But when I saw a second little girl with a matching bag and pony, I started to get suspicious, so I went exploring!

Good thing I did! Apparently, Dave & Buster's (which is sort of like a Chuck E. Cheese/sports bar for adults, in case you don't have one locally!) now has pony plush as one of their prizes! I took a picture, then I decided: I MUST have one! (Or all!)

975 tickets each, ouch! I guess ticket inflation has gone up since I was a kid, because I managed to make enough for 3 ponies in a little over an hour! (It took about $50 in gameplay though, aside from a few games of skee ball I played for old time's sake!)

I decided to get Twilight Sparkle first, because there were only 2-4 of her in the entire pile of ponies!! (You can see her eye peeking out from the pile of ponies in the first pic!) Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy seem to be the most common, so I’m going to have to go back at some point and get Fluttershy!

Some nice details: Applejack has her little red hair ribbon! And each pony has a little description about them written in the tag!

According to their tags, they are made by “Toy Factory” and are part of the Cutie Mark Magic line (you can see that Applejack’s front tag vector has the extra apple mark over her eye)!

Good luck on the hunt, girls! :D I hope these stick around for awhile, I don't get to Dave & Buster's very often!

PS, if you're wondering why there's a strange name on my pictures, it's my Tumblr URL!

Pony Corral / Pony Cosplay, Especially G1!
« on: August 06, 2015, 05:39:00 PM »
Hey guys! So I've decided to try and whip up a G1 pony cosplay, and I'm curious to see how other people have pulled theirs off! Would you mind sharing? (Especially Big Brother ponies, please!)

Even if your costume is G4, G2 or G3 based, I'd love to see it! The more the merrier!

Off Topic / Best place to sell science equipment/kits?
« on: July 14, 2015, 03:26:24 PM »
This is a problem I've been wrestling with for awhile now! :yikes: I told my mom I would help her sell all of the old science equipment she had, and I'm kind of drawing a blank of where would be best to sell.

It's all science stuff that she used during her time as a home school teacher, and it varies from about a middle-school range to high school. It's a mix of pipettes, glass beakers and general chemistry supplies along with several pre-made "science kits" that came in a box with all of the supplies needed. Some of them are still in the plastic wrapping! The topics vary from geology to electricity to physics to chemistry!

I was originally thinking eBay, but would used science equipment be of any use there? I know we have some homeschooling moms, is there a better way to unload/sell homeschool supplies? I'm looking for feedback before I spend hours photographing all of this stuff, and this is one more way to procrastinate on that, LOL!

Thanks for the help!

I took a BILLION PICTURES for this, so I'll put them under spoilers from here on out! I haven't seen anyone else posting reviews of the newest castle yet, so I really wanted to get in-depth with this! This is also on my Tumblr, if you wanna see it there! (http://ponyguru.tumblr.com/post/123778721634/my-little-pony-cutie-mark-magic-canterlot-castle)

The newest castle just arrived yesterday, and I couldn’t wait to open it up and see everything! In case you’re curious, the newest castle was just listed on Amazon last week, and at almost three feet tall and priced at $100 (currently on Amazon for $90), it’s the biggest, most ambitious G4 building yet! (The newest castle just arrived yesterday, and I couldn’t wait to open it up and see everything! In case you’re curious, the newest castle was just listed on Amazon last week, and at almost three feet tall and priced at $100 (currently on Amazon for $90), it’s the biggest, most ambitious G4 building yet! http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00SOG4Q6G/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00SOG4Q6G&linkCode=as2&tag=alabmlme-20&linkId=HLPX2VGBNK72AYYF

First off, lemme assuage some concerns: the castle is not a plastic frame with a cardboard backing. Although there are some cardboard inserts, the majority of the castle is plastic, and feels very sturdy. However, many of the accessories are recycled from G3. Upside - it comes with a crown for you to wear!

To start off, it arrives in a huge box! Our size-model today is a G3 Blankie, rehaired in GITD white!

Here is Celestia and Spike! Spike looks pretty standard, like the one we saw in the Rarity Drives a Car playset. Celestia however gets tinsel, clear glittery wings, and the new QR code on her foreleg!

Here’s an in-progress shot of the castle! This was before I got all of the yellow railing on, which is a little tricky! (All of the pieces are supposed to have slots to fit together flush, so work on it until they click!)

I also had some problems getting the cardboard inserts to fit in right; they seem to be cut just a little too big, so I managed to bend almost all of them to get them to tuck behind the plastic tabs, damaging them in tiny ways.

Here’s something I love about this castle; the stained glass (which is gorgeous and so detailed) and the “thronevator.” When you turn the little knob at the base of the throne, you can lock it at whatever place on the track you want. So Celestia can ascend to the top floor, or just chill out a couple inches above the ground!

ACCESSORIES!! Here’s all of the cool little doodads, which I tried to set up in their “designated” (I think?) spots in the first photo. The bed is pretty cool, but I think my favorite is tied between the blue flame candles (!!!) and the treasure box with Twilight’s letters! I love to see show canon reflected in the toys!

There’s a fair amount of unique molds here (the little tables have stylized suns/stars molded into them, the scrolls, the bed, a bookstand!), but there’s also some repetition, like with the hair clips, the too-small tea set/sweets/table that’s from G3 Ponyville, the tea tray and wand, and of course this old favorite:

The cake with the G3 logo left untouched.

For anyone curious, here are the instructions! As you can see, the stairs are movable!

Overall, I really like this playset, and for $100, it does seem like a lot of energy went into engineering it well. I like that it’s more of a “building” than we’ve seen in past G4 castles, which I miss from G1/G3 days, but it’s a shame that you have to spend $100 to get a house that isn’t just a wall, as with the second G4 castle. I would have liked more ‘unique’ accessories (no more of the Ponyville dangit!!), but the ones we got were pretty great!

For it’s size, scope and attention to detail, I’d say this is a good buy!

If you have any questions, PM me!

Bonus: overly-caffeinated Celestia on the front of the box!

Pony Brag Arena / My Brag from the Central Cali Meetup!
« on: June 22, 2015, 05:57:22 PM »
... in May!

Yes, it was weeks ago, but I am just now realizing that I never posted my brag outside of the meetup thread! So here we go!!

This is what my table looked like:

Here's everything I got:

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

First up: Dolls and plush! I snagged a Puppy Surprise with two puppies for $20 from Terra - and one of them is a RUNT!!! I’ve always wanted one!! Plus, I got the two mini-puppies for a buck from Whoa1234, so now the mommy has even more babies! The doll I was told is Jem (who I got from Jahlila's box of miscellaneous 80s toys!), but it turns out it's actually Danse, one of my fave characters! She's my very first Jem doll, and man, she is HUGE!!! I love her!! She’s wearing a sweet knockoff jumpsuit (possibly Totsy?) from the big lot of Barbie stuff I got for my friend Oak23, as well as the pants, grocery basket and FANNY PACK! I got the manticore/WoW guy for my friend thelotusmuse! And I rescued Rainbow Dash from Lunar_scythe's dollar bin so I could give her a pretty new faceup!

LOOKIT THE BABIES!!! The pink one is the runt!! I think they’re huskies? I always wanted the husky family!!

PONIES!!! Or rather, BAITS! I went a bit crazy on the baits; I snagged a bag of 18 baits for $10 from Whoa1234, solely because I could see KINGSLEY in there!! Several of these girls were rescued because they look like not-baits to me, IMO! (Baby Quackers is very white, she just needs a new tail!)

RESINS!! Naturally, I’ve already lost one. :( Fail!! Somehow, I managed to hold onto the teeny-tiny bag of petites, and lost one of the DG fakie babies. Oh well!

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

More rescues from Lunar_Scythe's dollar bin! I should have snagged more of her G4s, I might give her a PM about those next... ;)

COLLECTION PONIES!!! These were all ponies I needed for my collection, and I’m amazed I found so many!! (I got Fluttershy at McDonald’s the day we drove to the Meetup, LOL!) That’s Italy Peachy in there!! (I didn’t technically need Steamer, but he looked so handsome!) I won Chrysalis for being one of the participants in the Save the Chickies game!! I wanna say I tied for first, but I'm not 100% sure... XD

August Birthflower, Tall Tales and Trickles all came from Terra's table, they're so gorgeous!! I'm one step closer to completing my Birthflower set, and I think Trickles completes my Year 2 Rainbows!! All three are stunning, thank you Terra! I got Squeezer from Lunar_Scythe, and Princess Misty from NinaMarie! (We traded for a hairbow, that was awesome!! )

I got Steamer, Italy Peachy and Tootie Tails from Fizzerknight! Tootie Tails completes (I think) my Tropical Ponies set! :D Chief is from Lunar_Scythe's table, poor thing is covered in age dots! I had to rescue him!

Sweetie Pups and Kitty from Jahlila's table! I don't "collect" these, per se, but if I find them for a good price I snatch 'em up! I hope to find more, these are some of my first puppies! They need a bath, but they're already super cute!!

FAKIES!!! Love me some fakies!! XD I got sooooo many, I even got more fakies than collection ponies this time! ;) I found almost all of these guys from Jahlila's free/fakie/misc toys boxes, although I got the Strawberry Shortcake pony from Lunar_Scythe's table!

(This long-necked pony is one I bought online actually, but she arrived the day before the meetup, so she TOTALLY tagged along with the other fakies!)

Discord and Trixie chase figures! I got these guys from my carpool buddy, BabyMedley! Thanks hun!

I totally forgot to take a picture, but I also traded with firehelix24 for one of his beautiful art prints!! Thanks firehelix!!! I hope you enjoy your ponies!!

I WON KHAHET!! :faint: I'm still so excited!!! My photos don't do her justice, because she's so stunning IRL! Thanks Jahlila!!

I also won third place in the custom contest, woo!

GOODIE BAG GOODIES!!! So many stickers, where will I put them all!?

Okay, I think ... I think that's everything. :faint: I had SUCH A GOOD TIME, GUYS!!! I hope I got all of my trading buddies/seller's names right, but if I messed up, please feel free to lemme know! I'm gonna try to leave everyone feedback in the next couple of days, so if you bought a hair-bow from me or a pony, lemme know, I'll leave you feedback!!

It was so nice to meet all of you, I really hope I can go again next year!! I hope we can keep in touch, even if I'm waaaaaay far south from most of you! ;)

I'm sad to make this post, because in all honesty, I thought very highly of this seller until I actually purchased something from her. Since it crossed the line from carelessness/laziness to actual nefarious behavior, I'm sad to say that I had to make this post here. I had really expected better of her, as an experienced seller with an Etsy shop, and someone I had spoken to for several months. :(

Very tl;dr version: Monsterhighclassof2014 on eBay/Bluebirddollshoppe on Etsy is a scammer. She sells items using outdated photos, often selling items she no longer has on hand, and drags her feet/tries to convince you not to file with Paypal with various excuses and delays.

She has an eBay account (http://www.ebay.com/usr/monsterhighclassof2014) as well as an Etsy shop (https://www.etsy.com/shop/bluebirddoll?ref=si_shop), and both have a few (but not many) negative feedback, so it's clear it's not just me having these problems.

I originally met Bluebirddollshoppe ("Seller") on Tumblr when I entered one of her contests, and we conversed in a friendly manner since then. I suppose my first tip-off was when it took her two months to ship out the prizes, and they were different than what she had first offered.

When she posted a picture of a pile of G4 ponies she had for sale (auction in question: http://www.ebay.com/itm/100-Piece-My-Little-Pony-Friendship-is-Magic-Lot-/181707625298?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a4e9e5352 ), I informed her that she would get more money by singling out the more 'rare' ponies for individual sale, and taking the stray G1 pony out of the lot. She informed me that she also had a bunch of G1 ponies she wanted to unload, and we started discussing pricing over email.

Now, unbeknownst to me, she had taken my advice, and sold several of the G4 ponies out of the lot to sell to another buyer on the side - without updating her eBay photos to reflect that most of the expensive ponies were already sold. http://lotsoftinythings.tumblr.com/post/115576122836/pony-mail-arrived-these-are-from-justabadapple I believe this double-selling is reflected in her latest "positive" feedback on eBay; "Was missing two ponies but I do think I got a good deal with this buy." The feedback is private, but you can tell that she has only sold one MLP item recently. Considering the price of a MIB G4 Applejack right now, and that she essentially sold the same ponies twice, I thought this was textbook scamming.

Over email, Seller sent me a link to a Flicker account (https://m.flickr.com/#/photos/129810986@N06/ ) with pictures of all of the ponies she had for sale, and I made an offer on the 80 ponies and one thermos - plus "some more ponies she hadn't taken pictures of yet," including Wigwam. I thought this was a pretty good deal, and I made an offer on the whole group. She accepted it, I sent payment out ASAP, and the ponies were in the mail to me within days. I asked her to put in some bubblewrap, if possible, to protect the So-Soft and winger ponies in the lot. Otherwise, I said not to worry about padding, I don't mind if they get a little banged around. The ponies arrived without any padding, and one of the wingers had a crease in her wing; whether from shipping or beforehand is unknown.

I didn't think much of the offhanded joke she had made about "I tried to count them but I gave up after 20," until the box arrived, I started to count ... and 23 ponies from the photos were missing.

Not one, or five, or even ten ponies. Twenty three ponies! How do you "forget" more than a quarter of the items you sold?!

I responded as politely as I could, because at this point I considered us friendly; But after three weeks of dragging her feet and nonstop excuses ("I have to go to an event! I'm too sick to clean! I can't refund you, I have no money! How about I trade my Barbie collection to the lady at the flea market for replacement ponies?" etc.), I started to get impatient. During the time that she told me she was "too busy" to clean her room and find the ponies (of which she brightly informed me that the thermos was "long gone" - why did you include it in your sales pictures if it's gone???), she managed to 1) start a raffle, 2) take photos of her raffle items, and 3) delete the evidence of any pony sales off of her Flickr account.

She didn't have time to find the ponies she sold me, but she did have plenty of time to hide any evidence of it!

After multiple delays, suggesting a Paypal dispute twice and almost a month later, I've finally received the replacement ponies that she was able to find. Of the 23 missing ponies, she found 13 to replace them - none of them are the original ponies I paid for in the photos, but they're all G1 at least. However, she still kept three of them, because of 'sentimental value' - so I've received 10 ponies out of the 23 I'm owed. I've received as much of a refund as I'm going to get (the difference between the actual refund and what I received is only $1.25), and the ordeal is finally over. To her credit, she didn't ask me to pay for the shipping for the replacement box of ponies.

Throughout this process, I felt a certain amount of pity for her - at first, she came across as very disorganized and overwhelmed. However, when I discovered that she had A) pulled the same 'selling expensive items she didn't have' trick on someone else and B) deleted the proof from Flickr, I began to realize that this was perhaps more sinister than mere disorganization. She also ignored my emails for multiple days until I mentioned a dispute with Paypal, a very bad sign, and had a tendency to 'go silent' unless I prodded her for a response or update.

Hopefully she can get her business under control, but as of right now, despite being "made whole" in my transaction with her, I can't recommend her to anyone else as a seller. I am 100% sure that if I hadn't bugged her for the better part of a month, I would not have gotten any kind of refund or replacement ponies. What I had hoped would be an easy transaction between friends turned out to be anything but.

Pony Corral / SoCal Collectors - Meetup?
« on: August 11, 2014, 06:45:33 PM »
Hi everyone! I know someone else was putting up a 'feelers' thread, but they seem to have lost interest, so I thought I'd make one of my own!

So how about it: who would be interested in meeting other collectors in SoCal? I'd love to get a rough number of those who are interested, what kind of events you'd like to do, what areas you're willing to drive to, and what days work best for you! I was thinking a weekend might be best for everyone, especially with school starting up again.

I've also been brainstorming a lot of fun games we could do! I was thinking a gift swap/White Elephant, buying and trading ponies (of course!), maybe some trivia, a custom contest? I also thought a 'speed customizing' contest might be fun, LOL! Or just hanging out and getting lunch somewhere! Lemme know what you think! ^_^

Pony Corral / Temp Tattoos in Quarter Machines at TRU
« on: August 06, 2014, 06:24:38 PM »
This was something I found 'new' about a month back, and I haven't seen many people posting about it, so I thought it bore making a new topic. (My apologies if I missed the previous topic on this!)

I finally got around to gathering up all my quarters to buy them, and I have an almost complete set of tattoos now! So here's almost all of the designs available!

The display I found looked like this:

And after putting in what felt like a million quarters, I got these:

Here's the image reversed, so you can see how it would look on your skin:

Here's some closeups:

It looks like these go in a certain order in the machine, and after getting the first nine designs, I was ready to get the tenth. Instead, the pattern started over again from the beginning, and after the first two doubles, I gave up. :( So if anyone knows what the tenth design looks like, let me know! (And lemme know if you wanna trade - I'm close enough already, might as well finish the set!)

They're only 50 cents each, so they're very affordable and cute! They look more 'ornate' than the similar, smaller tattoos we got with the trading cards, which is nice!

Not sure how many saw my cute cake icon on here, but I recently had a birthday! :D I also went to a local toyfair and found G1s!

First off: Birthday brag!

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Not pictured because I totally forgot to include them: an awesome book, an owl candle and an owl mug! The G3s were all bought from Skylar here on the MLPArena, so a big thank you to her! I also bought my friend Vesperblade's belated-birthday gift from her too!

This next gift is from Vesperblade, who found this mega-sized craft box and knew I'd love it! It's just like grown-up Caboodles!!!

It looks sort of deceptively small, right? But when you look at it ...

THERE'S THREE DRAWERS FOR ORGANIZING!

SO MANY TINY COMPARTMENTS!!!!!!!!!

*ahem* I, uh...  Onto my toyfair finds!

There's a local toy/collectible fair called Frank and Sons that I've really been wanting to go to for months and months (ever since I heard about it), and finally I got to go the week before my birthday! With Vesperblade no less! So I finally went, found some G1s at a booth, and I was told 'oh, last week a lady bought all of my ponies, I had about a hundred!'

... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

But when I looked behind her, I happened to catch a glimpse of yellow! So when she said, "These are the last ones I have," I asked, "What about that one?"

"Oh, she needs a lot of work."

"That's okay!!"

"Okay, but that's really all of them."

"... what about that other one right there?

"Oh!"

:faint: I guess she forgot how many ponies she had!

Needless to say, I bought every G1 she had, even the ratty and messy ones, because I was so desperate for ponies at that point! (The only other booth with G1s wanted $25 for a TAF Fifi, and $15 for Dangles! :yikes:) Good thing I pointed out Baby Glory hiding in the back of the booth, she was the cleanest and mintiest one of the lot!

They all need a lot of work, but here's all of the G1 toyfair finds, pre-bath!

Now, Little Flitter is the first one I found peeking out of the back of the seller's booth, and I knew I definitely wanted her when I saw her crisp, unfolded wings! But then I saw that she was not Little Flitter...

But COALHOOF THE TERRIBLE!

(I'll be working on sunfading her little 'shoes', heh heh!)

I also found some other goodies at the toyfair! I found the Big Mac plush seen above, as well as ...

the MOON CYCLE!

(Heh, I just figured the pun out! Maybe I should call it the 'lunar cycle' instead!)

I talked the seller down from $10 to $7 after I fished it out of their 'new items' pile, but even though they said I was getting a 'deal' on it, I really have no clue what it's worth! I just know that someone wanted to tool around in it.

(That 'someone' is Senor Fakiepants.)

And that's everything! Now, to go start cleaning all my new finds...!

Hi guys! Well, wow, it's been a long time since I posted in here. I'm sort of a slow customizer, to say the least, but I had a great time trying to bust out these two in time for the end of the contest! These two don't even have sealer done on them yet!!

Ultimately, I wanted to make ponies that I would love to keep once the contest was over, and I succeeded - I really, really like how they both turned out! I've even received an offer to buy for both of them, but unfortunately, I like them too much to sell, I'm sorry!

So first up, my non-Hasbro fakie, who I have dubbed Lady Knight! My original 'vision' was for a very kawaii, hyper-girly and pastel mount for a female knight to ride. I put a lot of work into her 'armor,' because I really wanted her to look completely over-the-top with detailing! Her symbol is a 'halbeard', from FFXI, which I referenced and turned pink! http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/File:FFXI_Polearm_2A.png Her haircolors are all Dollyhair MLP-style nylon, and the colors I used are Fairy’s Breath (pink), Arctic Frost (blue), and Twilight (purple). If you'll note, I took great care to avoid using any black paint/detailing on her; her eyes are outlined in a dark purple to preserve the pastel look. Her tail was also widened, as it was quite small, but I otherwise did not modify the original fakie mold. I think it's a super-cute style of fakie!

Lady Knight came to me first in a bait lot, as she had been someone's airbrush experiment pony. This is how she looked at first!

This was right after I finished the armor, but before I finished shortening the reins. They were too long the first time! I also added a lot more detail later.

Here she is with the final hair colors I selected for her.

Once she was finished, I went a little nuts with the photos!

Owl Cameo was my Hasbro-mold fakie entry, and the first-place winner of her division! Woo hoo!!!

I basically planned her to be a complete opposite from what Lady Knight was going to be - while Lady Knight was multicolored, super-detailed, pastel and girly, I wanted Owl Cameo to be more simple, monochrome, and streamlined. (This was also to save me grief - I knew I'd have to spend a lot of time to finish Knight, so I wanted to have a simpler pony I could finish quickly, in case I ran out of time!) However, I spent almost all of the contest time trying to figure out what hair colors to give her!! I struggled, a lot, and forced my friends to listen to my endless ranting about 'what color to use.' Sorry guys! I only finally rehaired her the weekend before the contest ended! She was still getting painted the day before the contest end, which should tell you how badly I struggled with her hair combo! XD My "simple" pony became a bigger pain in the butt than my super-detailed and finicky one!

The problem was, I was basically going to give her Black Tie Pinkie Pie's haircolors, but in blue - but then I was told that black would be 'too harsh', and without a color to make it 'pop' it looked kind of boring, so I struggled to find an alternative! Finally, I went for a monochrome-themed blend of blues and white, with a splash of yellow-orange to spice it up! And I love her hair now!

This was her original hair 'concept':

And then I came up with this one:

Finally, I settled for a 'gradient' of blues, done in 5-9 plugs each, smoothly blending to the darkest blue-black, to orange, then back again to white. Her hair actually has a different pattern on each line of plugs - there is no Pacific Ocean in the 'top' line of plugs, and no Passion Fruit either. (Although you can see it peeking through from the bottom row, as seen here.) The colors are Blizzard, Daiquiri Ice, Mermaid, Forget Me Not, Pacific Ocean and Passion Fruit. I also punched a lot of new hair-holes and a much larger tail-hole, since this type of fakie only had one line of hair, and it ended up near her ears, giving her a bit of a high forehead. Now her hair is super thick!

Sadly, you can see in these pics that there is a bit of dark discoloration on her NDS ear - she got left with the hair baggies for a couple days, and the permanent marker stained her ear! :(

What's funny is, I wanted to enter both categories of the contest to 'push' myself, to try and finish two ponies in a month, but I really thought that Lady Knight had a much better chance of winning than Owl Cameo did. She's much flashier, and no one will vote for a 'simple' rehair and symbol repaint, I figured, so I put most of my effort into Knight. Imagine my surprise when my 'simple' pony completely obliterated the more detailed one in the voting! :lmao:

Thank you to everyone who voted for my ponies!! I loved all of the fakies that were entered, and it was truly an honor to win among such stiff competition! :cheer:

Trader & Shipping Support / Mailing a Poster to Germany?
« on: May 02, 2014, 06:21:01 PM »
Hey guys! I got a PM from a lovely member in Germany asking about a shipping quote for a poster I'm selling! They wanted to see how much it would theoretically cost, since international shipping can sometimes get pricey.

I'm using this calculator to figure things out, but I'm not sure how accurate it is for international shipping - the last time I used it to calculate shipping, it was off by several dollars! http://ircalc.usps.com/ So I'd hate to get a quote, then have to pay more out of pocket. Hence, I'm wondering if any of you fine ladies have ever shipped posters to Germany before, and might know if the estimate is correct, or if there's any special shipping restrictions I should worry about?

The poster box I have is 24 inches long and 2 inches high, and the whole thing only weighs about 6 ounces, if that helps! According to the calculator, it should be about $12.75 to ship, but I'm worried that it sounds kind of low for shipping something all the way to Germany!

Thanks for your help!
