Customs / Mermaid bubbles?
« on: October 07, 2016, 12:44:05 PM »
You guys remember when merponies were like the only things anyone made and some people had these awesome little iridescent glass beads that looked like bubbles on their customs?  Where does one find those, only in black?

Bit of a funny story, I bought Dragon Age Origins: Awakening used from GameStop last year and literally did not open the case until last night because life.  When I did, I discovered the employee had put the wrong disc in the case and now I have two copies of the original DA.

Does anyone want the DISC ONLY?  Just toss a couple bucks my way for shipping and it's yours.  I found a cheap copy of Awakenings so I want the case.

Arts & Crafts Corral / EDIT - no longer needed
« on: August 15, 2016, 08:04:23 AM »
I want to put a hat on a runt kitten.*  Bordeaux is at least 7 weeks old but is about the size of a 4 week old (fits in one hand) and I want to put him in a hat that looks like Link's iconic hat from Zelda.  No reason, I just think he'd be even more adorable.  Can anyone help me out?  :)

EDIT - or Batman :D

I volunteer for a rescue group and we're going to have a raffle for a custom plush Pokemon to celebrate Pokemon Go - the idea is you "rent" one of our dogs to walk while you play Pokemon and you can enter to win the plush (you don't have to walk the dogs to enter though).  I'm doing the plush, but I'm stumped on who to do!  I thought one of the original 151 would be best, and probably NOT something similar to what you could easily buy in a store, so probably not the starters or Pikachu.  Considering the Eeveelutions and legendaries for sure!  Any ideas?

Off Topic / I think I might be spoiling the cat
« on: June 30, 2016, 11:38:27 AM »
It occurred to me last night I might be spoiling the cat when I brought his pill pocket-wrapped medication to him while he laid on his special pillow playing his fishing game on my tablet.  I dunno, what do you guys think?  ;)

What ways do you spoil your pets?

Off Topic / Putting out feelers - vet tech
« on: June 27, 2016, 08:37:54 AM »
I volunteer with a local animal rescue that also happens to be run by my vet.  It's a fabulous organization and they are like family and I always find myself wishing I could do more to help.  It occurred to me that the local community college offers an associate's degree for vet techs, and I wondered if maybe this was something I could pursue?  I don't have anything to base my questions off of, but I know we have some techs here so I thought I'd ask for input.  :)

I have a degree (BS Applied Sociology, graduated 2005) and I work a very good full time job.  This would be something I would do just as "backup" for the rescue/vet.  I live alone and other than sewing I have no real hobbies, so as long as I am able to take the majority of classes at night or over the internet time wouldn't be an issue.  It is actually an interest of mine and always had been, so it's not something I just pulled out of my butt one day.  ;)  Given that I don't plan to pursue a career in the field would this be a waste of time/money or would it be beneficial to anyone?  Even just being able to administer vaccines would be a huge help to the rescue, since its staff is also the staff for the vet and they are often overworked.

Pony Corral / The weird things my mother remembers
« on: June 13, 2016, 08:04:15 AM »
I bought a Brazilian Up Up & Away from Sarah-Bee recently, and my mother happened to be at my house when I received and opened it.  Mom looked at it for a minute and said, "I remember you wanted this one as a kid.  You thought she had white hair and were upset when she didn't."

Totally true.  I thought she had white hair in the commercial and that she looked like a palomino, and I wanted her because of that!  I hated her when she had pink hair, lol!  Mom was remembering the US one, of course, but I can't believe she remembered that at all because most of her memories of my ponies are along the lines of, "You had a lot of them," or, "It took your father 3 hours to put that together for you on Christmas when you were 7."

Pony Brag Arena / Craigslist haul!
« on: June 13, 2016, 07:28:01 AM »
I hardly ever check CL for ponies because there never are any, but the other day I was looking for something unrelated and decided to check for ponies just because.  It's a good thing I did!

Aadra and I went on an adventure to get this lot, which included miles of unpaved roads and a complete loss of cell signal for both of us.  How does that even happen anymore?!  But it was worth it, because for $25 I got:

Dream Castle with 90% of its accessories
Glory
Baby Glory & most of her acessories
Cotton Candy with ribbon
Bowtie
Seashell & ribbon
Blue Baby Ember (upgrade, YES!!!)
Random accessories
G3 Sweetie Belle
G3 talking Pinkie baby thing
G4 Enterplay card boxes, but no cards
Ton of fakies & barbie horse head

Totally worth feeling like hillbillies might murder us.  ;)

Customs / Question about customizing playsets
« on: June 13, 2016, 07:03:38 AM »
I picked up a spare Dream Castle that is so discolored it's bordering on disgusting, so I want to try customizing it.  What's the best paint for the job?  Since it's hard plastic could I spray paint it?

My cat Slick* has had an unusual reaction to antibiotics twice now.  Last summer we started him on meds prior to a routine teeth cleaning, his first.  He was just shy of 7 at the time.  Within 24 hours and a few doses he had so much fluid in his chest he couldn't walk and could barely breathe.  He had to go to the emergency vet and was put on IV Lasix overnight.  Initially they diagnosed him with CHF and said I would likely need to put him down soon, but he bounced right back.  My vet and I wrote it off as being tainted meds, since she also had another patient's puppy react the same way at the same time and to the same meds.  Sadly, the puppy didn't make it.  She destroyed all of that particular batch or lot number and reordered the meds.  I think it was amoxicillin, something very common anyway.  In the aftermath he now has to take blood pressure meds to mitigate damage to his heart that may or may not have been caused/worsened by this.

More recently I took him in for an ear infection, and he was given some sort of clindamycin/steroid combo drops, which I used on him for 3 days before he had the same symptoms.  I ran him back to the vet, who put him back on IV Lasix.  He was better within a few hours.  She ran blood tests on him and couldn't find anything obviously wrong.  Now he is on benazepril and Lasix daily, and he is never EVER to receive antibiotics, at least not outside of a 24-hour monitoring environment in the clinic and at extremely low doses.

But the problem is, he still has the ear infection.  I am taking him back on Monday.  He doesn't act like his ears hurt but they seem itchy and he shakes his head a lot.  His hearing is fine though sometimes it looks like his balance is off a bit.  He acts normally otherwise.

Does anyone else have a pet that has a reaction like this to anything?  The vet now thinks he has some sort of immune deficiency or hyperactivity, though he was able to take antibiotics just fine when he was a young kitten and had a ton of problems.  She says in all her years of practice she has never seen this.  What can she do for his ears if he can't have antibiotics?

Trader & Shipping Support / Quick note about my sales
« on: April 11, 2016, 10:23:17 AM »
Sorry to have to post anything at all, but I have been practically living at the vet recently with my cat Stevie.  She was just diagnosed with feline asthma and it also looks like she has an allergy to something as yet undetermined which is complicating her breathing problems.  Additionally I am having spinal surgery soon so I am running around trying to take care of everything I need for that.

So, I am not incredibly reliable for messages and getting weights and postage amounts right now, and I'm sorry.  No money has changed hands yet but I feel bad with people just hanging.  I'm working on it guys, I'm just super busy.  It all seemed to hit right at once!  :(

I don't know a thing about digital art and I need an etsy shop logo design gussied up so I can look like a legitimate business and not like I used Paint for 5 minutes (which I totally did).  ;)  It's 6 colors but extremely simple.  I'd like to be able to use it on my product tags.  Can anyone help me out?  Thanks!

I accept PP only.  Costs are actual costs, no markup for fees.  I will get you a shipping quote if the item in question isn't listed with free shipping, so please give me your zip code when you PM me.  Gift payments are appreciated but certainly never required!  Shipping is normally done on Saturdays but occasionally I can slip away at lunch at work.  Most items will ship in a box.  International shipping is fine but it will still go via a trackable option.  No trades at this time, sorry!

I am not able to hold items at this time beyond what it takes me to get shipping quotes.  I need these gone because I need the space!

Off Topic / Sooooo.... neck surgery?
« on: March 17, 2016, 12:06:54 PM »
WTF you guys, I swear I never get a "normal" ailment.

I have a ruptured C6-C7 disc and a bulging C5-C6 disc.  I woke up like this in early February, no idea how I did it (just like every other stupid "you are too young for this" injury I have ever had).  The ruptured one is putting pressure on the nerves going into my arm so that various parts of it fall asleep in different positions.  For example, I can no longer look up or fold my arms without my arm going completely numb.  I've been to the neurologist and I'm having surgery this summer to shave off a bone spur bothering the upper disc, and to remove the protruding bits on the lower.  It's posterior, so keyhole surgery.  Hopefully this will buy me some time (maybe, like, forever) before I have to have the vertebrae fused, but that's also pretty likely if this doesn't 100% work.

So, any stories or advice from similar surgeries of your own?  I'm not bothered at all by the thought of having an operation.  I just wondered if anyone had personal experience with recovery time, especially since I live alone so I'm mostly on my own as far as taking care of myself (Aadra and my parents are nearby but I'm not going to call them just because I can't reach a shelf in my kitchen afterwards, you know?).  I know vaguely what to expect but know it varies by person, naturally.  ;)
