MLP Nirvana / Prince Sapphire Has Arrived!
« on: September 06, 2019, 10:58:54 AM »
A very special pony has arrived and joined my herd today, and I thought I'd share <3 Prince Sapphire (aka Principito Zafiro), the Mexican Prince! He's my first Mexican Nirvana, and second Nirvana overall. He's a little worse for wear but I just never see these boys for sale, and I'm honestly just happy to have him in my collection. A rare find indeed!

Quick background story for this guy; when I attended the OK MLP Friends meet earlier this year, I met a nice lady who was selling some Mexican Nirvanas. I didn't have enough cash on me at the time but I was absolutely dying to get Sapphire, who I'd just learned about before I attended the meet. Fast-forward to a week ago, I was able to get in contact with her again thanks to the lovely meet organizer, and she still had Sapphire!

He arrived this morning, and I took lots of pictures. I hope to take some better ones with a nicer set up soon but I was too excited not to immediately post him hehe. So without further ado, here's Prince Sapphire!

Toy Box & Games Cupboard / LPS Motherlode - $5 Thrift Store Find!
« on: August 18, 2019, 12:07:51 PM »
So I guess I accidentally became an official LPS collector lol! Yesterday while pony hunting, I found an LPS box for $5. I usually pick LPS stuff up too so I thought 'Oh cool, maybe I can use it to store the pets that I do have in' and went to pick it up. It was very heavy for what I had assumed was an empty box.

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Well...it definitely wasn't empty!

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Yep, that's 30+ pets and a ton of accessories, plus some non-LPS goodies! A few of them are pretty sought-after, I think? I'm not sure, I'm not very well-versed in LPS yet. Here's what all I got in that lot:

I gifted the two owls to my sister because she absolutely adores owls. I noticed while ID'ing everything that a lot of the pets came together in sets and still had some of their accessories! Here's the ones I could find, there might be more that I haven't paired up yet:

1970's Fisher-Price Little People Dragon - apparently they're pretty rare to find with intact ears! I got him for $0.10 at a thrift store yesterday.

Pony Brag Arena / My first Mountain Boy is here!

He has arrived!

Please pardon his mane, it was being very unhelpful >u< I'm trying to get it to stay the opposite direction with conditioner so his streak will show but it's a losing battle!

I was fortunate to come across, and win, an auction for this Sunburst on eBay last weekend. Yes, he has quite a few flaws, in the form of age marks/stains, but I'm not a picky collector in the slightest, and at the price of $45, I couldn't pass him up! He is otherwise lovely; his mane and tail especially are silky smooth and uncut.

I am so pleased to have a Mountain Boy finally, after having loved them since I was about seven or eight. I used to daydream about being able to have one and that dream has come true <3 I'm very much looking forward to getting the rest of the set (especially Ice Crystal, who has always been my grail <3).

34
So I now work 3 hrs in the morning on Saturdays from 6 to 9 in addition to the 10 hr workdays (I have the option to work every other Saturday if I do a 6 hr shift, but I think for now the 3 hr shift is best; I do get paid overtime on everything over 40 hrs a week though so it's all worth it!). The cool thing? I finish work and get home just in time for the thrift/antique stores to open, meaning I still get to go pony hunting on the weekends!

Last Friday I finally got my driver's license, and today marks the first time I've ever driven anywhere alone. I was nervous but it went quite well, and I made out like a bandit with today's finds!

SO to start things off, I have some exciting news. I got a really great deal on my very first Mountain Boy pony, Sunburst <3 He's got some flaws, but I'm not a picky collector and he was well worth the price. That's right, I'm finally getting my Mountain Boy set kicked off, after drooling over them for close to fourteen years! I am so excited, I can hardly wait for him to get here!

And firstly for photos, not a find, but a buy! I bought a Stranger Things Applejack from Pumpkin_Tart and she arrived yesterday. I am stoked! When I first saw her I instantly wanted her (AJ's my all-time fave), but of course since I personally won't shop at Target, I had to wait for a bit for her to show up elsewhere. She was well worth the wait! Gosh, her mane and tail are gorgeous. I really wanna give her a spa day but I just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Next, we have my two store buys, two CMC Series 4 blind boxes. I got seapony Fluttershy and Spike! Fluttershy's little flamingo float is just adorable, and I love the little Spike as well <3

And now, my finds for today! At our local antique store I found an entire box of LPS at $1 each. When I started rooting through it, I realized there were a ton of blind bag ponies! I ended up getting like $13 worth of blind bags/one cat LPS that I've been wanting for awhile! From top to bottom, left to right: Beachberry, Firecracker Burst, Diamond Mint, Lilac Hearts, Sunset Shimmer, Strawberry Sunrise, Sweetie Blue (I've been looking for her for awhile!), Sugar Grape, Mosely Orange, Flash Sentry, Sunny Rays Wave 10, and the one LPS I got.

Next, from a local thrift store, I got a little newborn Skywishes.

And lastly, from yet another local thrift store, I got...

Pony Brag Arena / This Week's Brag: Mommy Charm!
« on: July 06, 2019, 11:44:48 AM »
I'm going to try to get back to my weekly brags (when possible) and today I have a small but awesome brag!

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

In a bag of random McDonald's toys, I found a Laugh-A-Lot Mommy Charm! This is the first Mommy Charm I've found, and my first G1 find in the wild since...I think last year? o: She's in fairly good condition with a bit of discoloration and some rubs <3 I was so stoked to find such an interesting pony thing today!

Pony Brag Arena / My First Nirvana + Huge Belated Brag!
« on: July 04, 2019, 11:41:34 AM »
So...I've been extremely busy as of late. Having graduated school and started a new job as a production welder working 50+ hrs a week at $14.50 an hour plus overtime pay for all work over 40 hrs (trust me, the long hours sound bad but they're really not once you get used to it; it was an adjustment during the first couple weeks, but I honestly adore my job so I don't mind now!), I've had extremely little time for ponies. But now that things have settled down and I've gotten into a routine (and am currently on a four-day holiday our company gives us for 4th of July), I figured I'd take the time to sit down and report on all the pony goodness I've received in the past month!

So firstly, last month I finally got my very first Nirvana from the lovely Skylar - Italian Tickle! I was completely stoked to get her at such a nice price, and she is so lovely and soft-looking. I absolutely adore her.

Skylar also included this amazingly lovely G2 Ivy postcard as an awesome bonus! Ivy was my favorite G2 growing up so this is special to me <3

And next...gosh. The brags. So despite the first couple weeks being super stressful, I have had fantastic pony luck in the last month. At a garage sale last month I found:

So as you can see, despite the hardships, I've had a great last month! I hope everyone has also been well! I look forward to being able to find and purchase a lot more pony stuff now that I have a steady (and extremely nice!) income.

Off Topic / Onward
« on: May 31, 2019, 06:26:56 AM »
I just saw the teaser trailer for Onward, and did some research on it, and I am honestly so excited for it! The premise of the movie looks to be super cute and wholesome (gosh, the origin of the concept too), and as an extreme high fantasy/elf/dark elf fan I absolutely adore the character designs (whoo-hoo for more elf characters!). I'm reserving judgement until it comes out of course, but I feel like this one might be a gem.

What are your thoughts on it?

38
So...yesterday was pretty awful. My horse had to be put to sleep. When my other horse died last year, I drifted away from ponies for a bit to grieve, but I feel like this time around I'm using them as a coping mechanism because I still feel like messing with them. Which is good, I suppose. Ponies are a healthy coping mechanism <3

Yesterday morning my pony luck returned! I have had very little luck on my pony hunts lately, but I found something special at a local thrift store.

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

My first G2 find in the wild since I lived in Vermont years ago! I know it's just a Sundance McD's, but gosh, I was beginning to think G2s didn't exist in OK hehe >u< This little gal proved me wrong, and I was so happy to find her!

In addition to Sundance, from the same store I got:

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Equestria Girls Fluttershy (what's even cooler is I had her brush already, so the set is a bit more complete! I don't collect Equestria Girls though, so I'll probably be putting her up for trade; keep an eye out if you're interested!)

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

AJ Brushable, not sure what this one is from. Her mane is lovely but her tail is just awful. I'm not sure if I'll be keeping her the way she is or customizing her yet. I do have a reeeeeeally old pony character named Jolly Apple that I might use her for, but I'm not sure yet.

Pony Brag Arena / Pony stuff from the last couple weeks
« on: May 21, 2019, 02:21:16 PM »
So I haven't had much luck in my pony hunts the last couple weeks, but I figured I'd just make a brag for what stuff I did find <3 Also got a few other random retail purchases as well as the finds!

First up, the finds:

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

From top to bottom, left to right: Twilight Sparkle Funrise plush, Crystalling Chaos book, Sharing Is Caring book, McD's Rarity, G3 McD's Rainbow Dash.

Next are the retail buys!

Princess Celestia! I'd been trying to decide whether I wanted to grab her or not. I thought this release was absolutely lovely. I'd finally decided to get her but to my surprise, she was completely pushed out of inventory in almost all the Wal-Marts in our area! I ended up having to order her for pickup at a store 30 mins away. But she was completely worth it. Her hair cleaned up nicely, it's soft and smooth! I wish I'd been able to get Luna as well, but because she's low in stock they were trying to charge $24 for her on the online store and nope >.<;

Our stores have gotten the CMC Wave 4 in! I'm not a fan of Rainbow Dash but gosh do I love the adorable little sandal she came with, so I don't mind that I got her <3 At least she wasn't an Equestria Girl hehe!

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Lastly, a brand new Dollar General opened up down the road from us! I've been anticipating its opening for awhile because I've had amazing luck at finding some of the older waves. Their inventory wasn't completely in yet as there were a lot of empty shelves, but they had backstock of Wave 22 blindbags! I grabbed one at random without feeling it to see if I could tell who I was getting, and I got Lilac Luster, who was actually one of the ones I wanted from this wave.

Prince Firefly, all the way from France! His estimated date of arrival was between May 5th-15th, and given that the 5th was Sunday, he basically got here as soon as he possibly could! <3 He is even more gorgeous than the photos in the eBay listing depicted. I am so pleased with him, and for only $5!

If you're curious as to why his mane is in a ponytail, his hair very stubbornly kept covering up his symbol when I was attempting to take pictures and considering the fact that he has the infamous chartreuse hair, I didn't want to wash his hair until I could wrap it up and keep it off his body so it wouldn't stain >u< So makeshift hair-tamer it was!

Gosh this boy is so pretty, I cannot wait to take a ton of photos of him!

42
Yesterday I didn't really have much time to go looking for ponies, as I had to go in for a physical/fitness test for my new job I'll be starting later this month. But I did get to stop by a Salvation Army and my mom found a couple G3 pony books while we were there!

I remember Pony Party from my childhood <3

Today however, I was able to check out some thrift stores before school, and I had a pretty awesome day! From a local thrift store, I got:

McD's Minty

Party Popples plush!

All the ponies aside from McD's Minty (who was $0.25) were $0.50 each (can't beat that!) and I believe the Popples was also $0.50. Then I headed over to Goodwill, and after passing over an overpriced book and a Twilight Sparkle Pez dispenser, I found this awesome poster stashed on top of a bookshelf! It was half-price so I got it for $0.53 <3 It was a little ripped up at the top but I was able to make it look much better with some strategically-placed tape.

Had another baby fakie bait lying around in very poor condition, but this one had sort of floppy-looking lips. I was trying to figure out what to do with it when I remembered that the elderly ponies on FiM have the same sort of lips! I've always liked Apple Rose's design, so I decided to go with her <3 I think I'll probably go with yarn for her hair.

First we have Levon Song, who is actually finished apart from his little glasses <3 He was kind of an experimental custom. I've never sculpted manes and tails for customs before, so I figured I'd give it a shot. It didn't turn out too badly, but I still think I could've done a better job. Oh well, next time! He was made from a G4 Pinkie Pie brushable, painted in acrylics, and his mane and tail were sculpted from Sculpey. Finally, I added a gloss varnish to his painted details (eyes, nose, lips, symbols) to make them less matte and stand out more, just like the Hasbro factory ponies.

Next, a boy I started and nearly finished yesterday! I have a serious soft spot for background/underappreciated FiM ponies (gee, can't you tell? Literally all my customs thus far have been FiM background ponies) and Burnt Oak is one of my faves! He just has such a nice feeling to him. Also he reminds me a bit of Sam Elliott for some reason, and he's one of my mother's favorite actors. So I decided to do a custom of him! This was my first time using a Fashion Style-size G4 for a custom (I used that extra Pinkie I just got in that shopgoodwill lot recently), and I have to say, they are much easier to work with than the regular brushable size. I highly prefer them. I am super, super happy with how all his painted features came out. I was really nervous about painting his eyes since it would stand out if I made any mistakes, and I think it came out just fine! I decided to try and copy the actual G4 painting style exactly, instead of doing my own thing with the soft shading and blushing as I usually do. I used the same gloss varnish method, and it looks great on him. I need to order him some hair and rehair him still, and get him a bandanna/hat, but he's coming along nicely.

Pony Brag Arena / Pony Meet Haul!
« on: April 27, 2019, 07:53:36 PM »
Today I had the awesome opportunity to attend my very first pony meet, courtesy of the Oklahoma MLP Friends group on Facebook! <3 I had so much fun. I've never seen so many ponies in one place before, let alone met other collectors! I got to see so many rare ponies in person, from Mexican Nirvanas to the Mountain Boy ponies. I may have kinda fangirled over Ice Crystal; he's been my grail since I was little and today was the first time I'd seen him in real life. It only made me more determined to get him someday! I also got to play some fun pony-themed games. I especially loved the 'guess the pony' game!

But enough about that, let's get onto my buys for the day! I got a ton of ponies on my wishlist, but I also took home a few surprise ponies because they just spoke to me or were on sale and I couldn't resist, hehe <3

First off, the G1s!

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

This absolutely gorgeous Daddy Bright Bouquet. I didn't even know how much I wanted this boy until I got to see him in person. And this particular boy is MINT-Y. I cannot find a single thing wrong with him. His symbols and eyes are pristine, and his hair is lovely and soft. His body's even still squishy! He was the most expensive pony I bought today (and even then, his price was extremely reasonable), but he was worth every penny.

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Next is Speedy. So a little story about my love for Speedy; I was an avid rollerskater when I was little and had just discovered G1s, of which Speedy was a favorite of mine. When I outgrew my skates and got a new pair, I used to strap the old skates to my hands and skate around on my hands and feet pretending to be Speedy because I adored her >u< I've always wanted her and I am absolutely ecstatic to finally have her in my herd!

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

*drumroll* Another pony I've wanted for a long time, who I never managed to find in the wild. I finally have an Applejack from all the generations (G1, G3, G4)! She was in a $3 bin of ponies. Can't beat that!

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

This gorgeous Windy, who was also in the $3 bin with AJ! Windy is another pony I've always had a fondness for. She just looks so crisp and satisfying to the eye, in my opinion.

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

This poor Streaky is in need of a new horn, but other than that and a bit of frizzy hair, she is gorgeous! You can't see it in the pictures but she does actually still have pink in her stripe. The horn should be a pretty easy fix, and I'm looking forward to getting into restoration more.

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

A Cloud Puff who was only $1, I'm guessing because of that amazing level of regrind. Maybe I'm crazy but I actually think it looks so freakin' cool because the regrind is pink and blue, which kinda matches her color scheme. I dunno why, but I love it!

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

These two were actually freebies from two separate booths. Masquerade has...I'm not even sure what that stuff is. I thought age spots at first, now I'm leaning more towards schmooze/some sort of mold staining. I honestly have no clue if it's even possible to restore her, but Masquerade is one of my faves and she was free, so I figured I'd do my best for her! If nothing else, I'll color-match her and just paint over the markings. Sunbeam might be beyond help without paint as well, but if she is, I'll make sure to give her a lovely new life as best I can <3

Next, the G2s! Yes, you read that right, kota's G2 collection finally makes a return!

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Clever Clover! Oh my goodness have I wanted this boy for a long time. He is so cute! He has a hair cut but it actually really suits him, I think.

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

This Birthday Magic Light Heart I got as a part of a trade for a Little Pretty I brought with me in case anyone was interested in it. Since I don't collect them, I thought I'd see if I could trade it for ponies instead. So glad I did!

Some McD's G2s <3

Now to the G3s!

Bright Night <3 Another little one I've wanted for awhile. I adore her soft pastel color scheme. She was another pony I got in the trade.

Strawberry Reef and Star Surprise. I wasn't planning on getting these gals, but the booth owner put her remaining G3s/4s on sale for $1 each if you bought multiples, and these two were on my wishlist! They are both absolutely lovely.

And finally, G4s!

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Princess Luna! I got her along with the two G3s on sale. She's so pretty; I've been wanting a Luna brushable for awhile too.

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

All About Soarin! I actually won this boy in a game of pony trivia, which makes him pretty special to me <3  I think I might take him out of the package (I'm itching to play with a male G4 brushable) but I haven't decided yet.

Lucky Swirl and Roseluck, two Blind Bags I got in the trade! <3 Roseluck has been on my wishlist for a good bit too.

---

Did I say that was all? Well, I lied! I also got some cool merch.

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

The buttons were the final item I got in the trade! The feature three of the G1 seaponies. They're really well-made and adorable. Then there's my badge, and a commemorative card from the meet!

---

In summary, I had an amazing time. I was totally in awe of all the ponies I got to see today, and very pleased with the ones that I took home with me! I can't wait to attend my next pony meet!

Guess what arrived this morning in time for me to clean and photograph? :D My $4.00 (+ shipping of course) lot from shopgoodwill! I had been eyeing this lot for awhile as it kept getting relisted for lower and lower starting bid. I finally caved when they put it up for $3.99 and no one else bid! Since these girls were pretty filthy, I decided to take before and after cleaning photos of a couple of them so you can see how nicely they cleaned up.

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

First up is Star Hopper. Oh. My. Goodness. She's even nicer than I thought she looked in the photos! The only thing wrong with her that I can see is that she has a small indention in her hip where the plastic's sunken in, but it's honestly not that noticeable and if I wanted to I could easily fix it. She didn't need much by way of scrubbing; she had a little bit of lipstick on her lips, eyes, ears and horn, but it all came out easily with the aid of a Magic Eraser. I am super happy with this gorgeous girl.

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Next is Boysenberry Pie! She was in a bit rougher shape. She was utterly filthy and obviously came from the same place as Star Hopper because she too had makeup on her face. Thankfully, most of the filth came off! She is pretty badly discolored in some places. It looks like she was possibly laid on rusty metal, as it looks like rust staining but all over her body instead of just where her tail washer would be. Her hair is really nice, though!

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Next is Fizzy Pop! I've been wanting this girl for a long while, and I'm stoked to have her. She cleaned up beautifully. The only thing is that she still has some black marks on one leg, but I'm confident I can get those out if I had more time to work on it. Perhaps later when I'm not so busy!

Other than those three, I got a few G4s!

Fashion Style Pinkie Pie. I believe she's a double, which means she'll either be sold or customized <3 Probably customized, since I've been hankering to try customizing a fashion style size!

All in all I was extremely pleased with this lot. It came quickly and I got several awesome ponies for extremely cheap!
