MLP Nirvana / South African Playsets?
« on: April 10, 2018, 07:23:59 AM »
I recently got a lot from Craigslist, and the seller said she had more in her attic. She knew a fair bit about ponies and nirvanas. And she also said she had a South African Show Stable. I asked and she doesn't have Lemon Drop with it. She could be selling me some more stuff soon, and I could ask to see it! Maybe I could even buy it one day... If it is actually a SA playset. I haven't seen it, so I don't know for sure. So... Are there any SA playsets?

Off Topic / Duolingo now offers Klingon!
« on: March 31, 2018, 09:39:45 AM »
Duolingo now offers Klingon as an available language to learn! It is currently in beta and not quite a completely finished course yet, though. I might attempt to learn it, or what's more likely to happen, at least a few phrases. I'm a massive Star Trek fan and I love the Klingons :D I already use the insult petaQ under my breath quite a bit. What do you guys think? Anyone going to try and learn it?

Pony Corral / The mystery of this weird tail
« on: March 27, 2018, 07:34:16 PM »
Hello! I have come across something odd. I recently bought a big lot of ponies, and the seller threw in two bags of accessories. This included a few tails. The one I'm talking about is this:
Spoiler

Notice anything weird?

The top of the tail isn't there! Here is what a normal tail looks like. The clamp is in the middle of a hank of hair, so it comes out both sides.
Spoiler

With this tail, there is a thin shiny plastic film covering it. It's only coming out one side.

The clamp is also large and straight, unlike regular G1 clamps.

The length is also shorter than regular, but it could be cut, so... As for color, it doesn't match anyone I have, really. Here is a comparison pic.
Spoiler

There is Nibbles, Baby Lofty, Boysenberry Pie, and a loose Applejack tail that has way too much glue on it. The closest match is Boysenberry Pie, but her hair is still too yellow and saturated. The mystery tail is a tad more orange and a tiny bit less saturated.

My first thought was fakie. But nearly all fakies have rooted tails though? Is it another horse brand that isn't a fakie? It is a normal G1 tail? Am I overreacting and this is normal? I'm probably making a big deal out of this, but how G1s are made really interests me! Any thoughts? Thanks!

Pony Corral / Questions about sunfading, but not the usual ones!
« on: March 17, 2018, 12:52:24 PM »
Hello! I have recently acquired a huge lot of G1s, and quite a few have rust stains. So my first question: how does sunfading work with colored ponies? Does it brighten them or fade their color, is it as effective as white ponies, etc. Second question: How to cover thin tiny symbols? The worst pony is Sky Rocket, who has thin fireworks. Which brings me to my third question: Does sunfading damage twinkle eye eyes?

Anyway, thank you! I know how to sunfade generally, so I don't need any help with that :) Any responses are greatly appreciated!

Off Topic / How often are you on the Arena?
« on: March 07, 2018, 06:48:42 PM »
I thought this would be a fun poll

So... how often do you visit here? Is it every day or not quite as often? Why do you visit that much? Would you like to change how much you visit?

As for me, I view the Arena 3 or more times a day. I'm on here a lot!

What about you?

Pony Corral / A G1 video game?
« on: January 28, 2018, 08:45:08 AM »
I've always wondered about a G1 video game. I'm a huge gamer and I love ponies. But, to put it simply, I'm cheap and don't really like spending money on games, so things like Pony Island aren't a great option. Firstly, has anyone made a G1 game? I've searched and searched and I can't find any!

Secondly, would there be interest in a G1 game? It would be really cool if we could make one! It could be a mobile app or online, and it could be any type of game really. I would really love to make one but I don't know how to code so I would need someone else to help me. (My signature even says so!) Anyone interested? My ideas are under the spoiler.
Spoiler
My main idea is like the G4 gameloft game, but G1. Tirac has covered the world in darkness and all the little ponies have been lost! Rebuild Ponyland and help the little ponies. It will advance through the years of G1 and might even include Nirvanas and prototypes. Playsets will be buildings along with other buildings inspired off of sets and specific ponies. There will be and adventure element as well where you have to save ponies, fight villains, etc. In a sentence: Build Ponyland then be the mayor of it :)

This next one is a Pokemon style game. Go through all the regions and collect all the Ponymon! Shinies could be nirvanas!

A collection of mini games based on sets and specific ponies.

An RPG where you play in Ponyland and help the ponies.

What do you guys think? Any ideas? Anyone interested?

*Safflower's Snowy Adoptables!*

Hi everyone! I love snow, and I love pony art, so I thought it would be fun to make a snowy adoptable! I have been wanting to make one for a while, but I finally had some motivation from everyone's beautiful winter adopts :) And what's more fun to do in the snow than catch a snowflake on your tongue?

Pony Corral / Tail washers
« on: December 09, 2017, 10:40:17 AM »
Hello! I have been wondering what people do with tail washers for quite some time. A lot of cleaning tutorials I have seen don't really say what to do with the tail washer when cleaning a pony, so I wondered what you all decide to do with them. I actually keep them :) I can't bear to throw away anything G1, anything G1 is too valuable! My collection is small too. (I rarely find G1s in my area.) About half of my ponies were found in one day at one Goodwill, so I cleaned them all at once. Everyone had their washer removed, and I found them interesting. I glued them down on a big notecard so I could keep track of which one belonged to each pony. And so, my washer card began!
Spoiler

I know it looks weird, I promise I'm not crazy! I couldn't think of any other way to display or store them though. I noticed some similarities in the washers, though. There seems to be two different types: flat and spiky. Starflower, Nibbles, Forget-Me-Not, Moonstone, Dancing Butterflies, and Baby Lickety-Split all have two spikes coming out of the center of their washers while the others don't. There seem to be different sizes of each too. The flat ones have two: a thin, small one and a thick, large one. The spiky ones have three which are all thin: small, medium, and large.

Now that we have sizes out of the way, we can talk about who has what sizes :) My three collectors pose ponies and Sprinkles all have small, thin, flat washers. What's interesting is that Medley has a large, fat, flat washer but Sprinkles and Medley share the same pose and year. They should have the same washers, right? I would think so. I also noticed that Forget-Me-Not's washer is colorful, like an oil spill. I wonder if that was from the factory or if the previous child who had her did something.

Anyway, thanks for letting me ramble about what I have noticed about tail washers! If you keep yours, what have you noticed? Are there any sizes or kinds I missed? Thanks again!

Pony Brag Arena / Four Playsets and a Lunchbox
« on: November 22, 2017, 12:55:43 PM »
One day I was scrolling through craigslist, looking for ponies. I stumbled upon a listing of four nearly complete, almost mint G1 playsets for $40. I have to admit, I kind of screamed  I was (and still am) shocked! G1s are rarely in my area and when they are they are way overpriced (for instance, a dirty, grubby, broken shell of a Show Stable with a couple of grimy, bitten, and common G1s and G3s for $60). Pics under the spoiler!

This is everything before I inspected it. These are the only matte white floors I have so excuse the shoes and other things!(The thing in the upper right conner is my mom's shoe. She walked in right as I was taking the picture, lol :biggrin:visitors can't see pics , please register or login

First off, the Perm Shoppe! It is way bigger than I thought, lol. It is so nice though! This is what it looked like when I first opened it. You can see the bag of accessories and Fifi in there :)

Here are all the accessories! The only things that are missing are the fashion foam and the cart. The purple ribbons are still so curly too!

Next up, the Pretty Parlor! I'm glad this one came with the correct pony! My other one came with a Lemon Drop, lol

Here are all the accesories! Sadly, poor Peachy is missing Twinkles. Blue Belle, Minty, and Lemon Drop's tags are all missing too. She has all the other accessories, including the correct ribbons though!

I noticed something weird about the hats though. All the pictures I looked at had their colors switched! I think it's cool though :)

Here it is all clean! Peachy still has waves at the base of her tale from being braided. I think it looks cute

Now, the Sweet Shoppe!

It isn't missing any accessories! Im so happy!

Here it is all clean! Excuse the wig in the background, it's from goodwill and I'm still trying to fix it. Didn't realize it was there

Last of the playsets, the School of Dance!

The only things missing are the yellow ballet box, a leg warmer, and a dance card. The leg warmers and tutu are so cute!visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Here it is all clean! Baby Half Note has somewhat curly hair and no rusty eyes, which is great  :) She looks adorable in her attire

The seller threw in a lunchbox as well! It is so pretty
Thanks for reading my first brag! I apologize for being annoying in the shoutbox for a couple days

Sigs & Site Support / Who made the arena banner?
« on: October 03, 2017, 06:41:00 PM »
Might be a stupid question, but who made the arena banner? I'm talking about the one at the top of the site that says My Little Pony Arena. I was looking at it and was curious as to who made it since it is wonderful  I tried searching here and on Google, sorry if this has been answered or if this is a stupid question! Thank you!

Arts & Crafts Corral / My Miniature Pony! (Pic Heavy!)
« on: September 30, 2017, 07:09:13 PM »
Hello everyone! I wanted to show my tiny pony and Ponyland inspired by SugarCharmShop on youtube. Pics in the spoiler :)
Spoiler
Firstly, the Ponyland in a tin! Outside it looks like a regular Altoids Smalls tin...
visitors can't see pics , please register or login

But on the inside, it is a tiny version of Ponyland! The trees, pond, and flowers are inspired by G1 pamphlets. The rainbow represents the G1 logo :) It is made out of polymer clay and paint, glued on to the tin.
visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Now on to the little pony! Keep in mind the clay is dirty because it is white polymer clay after all and picks up every piece of dust ever  (My hand looks weird because I was trying to hold still for pics, lol! :silly:)

"How tiny is she, Safflower? She looks kind of big in your hand," you ask? Well, here is a size comparison to my Lemon Drop: She is about as big as one of her bigger drops.

Here she is prancing around in her Ponyland

Boy did she take long! I made the Ponyland months ago, but couldn't figure out how to make a mini pony to go along with it. Finally, this past week I figured out and today I finally completed her  More pics and more about the process in the spoiler.
Spoiler
I got the idea to make a mini Ponyland after I saw SugarCharmShop's video on youtube. I just had to make it! I already had the empty Altoids Smalls tin lying around so I used that. I put a green sheet of polymer clay in the bottom and a blue one on top. I made sure the top could close, then added the path, pond, etc. I also made the clouds separately. I then baked everything, took off the sheets of clay, and then glued them down. I painted the clouds, added them, and painted the rainbow. Here are some extra pics :)

Now, the little pony's process. After I made the Ponyland, I tried to make a pony. The first tries didn't work out well. I did half first, but it was too flat and I couldn't make the other half. I watched SugarCharmShop's video on mini G4s closely and realized I needed to consider her 3D, not two halves, so I made the body and legs first. I used a rounded log of clay and added four tiny snakes and smoothed them. I made about 3 of these, and all of their legs broke off. So then (yes, it was a long process which took months of experimenting, lol ) I figured I had to do the delicate parts last and the most stable first. I made a bunch of log bodies and two heads, then baked them. I realized then that I would surely mess up if I did just one, so I picked the best head and body and put them aside. I then took the other head and the second best body and attached them to practice. I learned from that and did it on the better parts, and it came out well. I then baked both. Then I added ears to the practice pony, learned, and did it on the better one. I baked them again, and added a mane on to the practice. It turned out badly, so I took it off. I developed a new mane making style and put it on the better pony. All that was left to do was the horrendously fragile legs and tail. I tried doing the legs first bake, then add tail, but it broke, so I knew I had to do them all at once. So I did, and it worked! Then I went to take pics and her legs broke. I re did them. Front legs broke. Did them again. Front legs broke once again, so I did them one last time. Then they finally stayed, so I took pictures and was done with it! :frolic: Here are some more pictures.

This pic is of the carnage. Bodies, so many legs, and my practice pony :)
Anyways, I'm hoping to make a mold of her somehow and cast her in resin so she will be less fragile. I also want to paint her to resemble the only white pony in my collection, May Lily  Hope you guys like her!

Arts & Crafts Corral / Want to do a pony Inktober?
« on: September 24, 2017, 03:09:04 PM »
Hello! I've been wanting to do the Inktober challenge for a while now, and thought it would be a fun way to improve both my inking skills and how I draw ponies. This would entail drawing a pony or something related to MLP each day and inking it each day of October, then posting it on the Arena. Which pony or thing you draw is decided by you, but you could use the official prompts to come up with a pony. (For example, day 1's prompt is swift. Based on this, you could draw Firefly soaring through the air.) There wouldn't be any harsh rules, for example digital art and OCs would be fine. This challenge would be about improving your pony artwork and sharing it with the community :) Would anyone want to do this with me? Why or why not? Thanks for reading!

Potential rules under the spoiler :) Feel free to suggest some other rules or changes.
Spoiler
1. Make a drawing in ink (or black line art if you're doing this digitally.)
2. The drawing has to focused on a pony or ponies or something related to MLP. For example, you could draw the Rainbow ponies hanging out or a playset or some combs.
3. Try to make a drawing every day. I said try here because it's okay to miss a day if you absolutely have to, but don't miss one on purpose.
4. Post your art here on the Arena! Everyone would love to see your beautiful artwork. But if you aren't comfortable sharing it, thats ok too ;)

Arts & Crafts Corral / Safflower's Art

Hello everyone! I was inspired to share some of my art after I realized my family owned a scanner

This one is from my early stages of drawing ponies, about 8 months ago. I have slowly been working on it when I have time, but it's still not finished. As you can see, Blossom is rolling her eyes at Cotton Candy for sneaking into her garden again and eating a flower. The style of the sun and landscape is from the Birthflower and Flatfoot offer around 1987.

This is a sketch inspired by the seventh UK comic extra Welcome to Ponyland: Moondancer. The poem is about how Medley, Firefly, and Moondancer are night owls and have fun together :)

This is the traced image of the sketch above, still a work in progress. I trace all of my sketches on to multi media paper so I can refine them and not have pesky pencil lines in my finished artwork. I actually tried to color this one but spilled water on it and got printer ink on it, so oops...
Thanks for reading!

EDIT THREE: Got the pictures to show up on the arena, yay!

Pony Corral / Wouldn't it be cool to have Ponymon?
« on: July 22, 2017, 11:22:45 AM »
I recently discovered my love for Pokemon, and want to download Pokemon Go. I looked at my collection and thought, wouldn't it be cool to have Ponymon? You could hunt for sea ponies near the water, collect ponies, and have your favorite pony walk beside you! Has anyone else thought of this? I think it would be great!
