Hello~
I hope I am posting this in the correct location! Recently I found my "old" early 2000's LPS toys stored away. Rather than letting them rot in storage I have chosen to sell them for some extra cash. The problem is, I have no idea how much these cuties go for. I have seen some outrageous selling prices on Ebay, but that site is full of people who try to sell things like lint for gold, so I figured I would ask here to see if anyone had pricings. In addition I have a couple random animals that I can't pair with others. If anyone recognizes any from certain sets, let me know!

I have some pics, they might not be super clear but I just wanted to take a few quick snapshots to see if selling them is worth it before taking more precise pics/cleaning them up. Aside from one dog figure, NONE of them have scuffs or markings. The same goes for the playsets/ accessories. They all look brand new. The Playground could use a wash though:

The Playground is missing 1 Flag (dog ate it years ago) and Bridge

Let me know what you guys think, and how much these will all go for. I am thinking of selling them here before going to Ebay or elsewhere, so if anyone is interested let me know!

Pony Corral / Is it Mold, Regrind, or the Dynamic Duo? (TE Party Time)
« on: November 25, 2015, 03:10:53 PM »
Hi!

So it's me again with another lovely pony November mystery. But this time I think I know what is going on...
As you most likely read in the title, this thread involves a TE Party Time, perhaps the most infamously known My Little Pony for regrind.

This is my TE Party Time I got a few months back. Aside from some super obvious pink splotches, she is in fantastic shape. Her hair is perfect, she has no body marks (other than the pink plague), her symbols are great, and her TE eyes are flawless. I know that PT is basically impossible to find without regrind, and so I consider myself lucky to find one in the shape she's in for basically pennies (thanks to a user on MLP Arena!)

For some reason she looks lighter here:

However, she has these darker specks showing up on her. Me being the dummy I am, neglected to note if these marks were there when I got her a month back, or if they have sprung up recently. This sent off the mold panic alarm, and I instantly removed her from the rest of my pony display just in case these dark marks are "spreadable". All my other ponies are fine (even my TE Tic Tac with the weird clear spots)

I noticed that these specks seem to have appeared where the regrind is at its strongest. This has prompted me to think they are a form of serious regrind, and not a delightful mold.  I don't want a potential mold to be spreading (if this is the case) and so I am looking for clarification as to what the heck these dark markings are.
I was considering them being some form of pony cancer, which I have seen and it looks just awful, but I'm still new to the collecting scene and I figured I would ask other members of their thoughts on what it is..

So, is this regrind? Mold? Or mold in regrind? I am hoping its the first option...

Also to note, this is a TE Locket with Regrind, and she does not have the black spots...

Customs / Bright Eye TE Restoration - Mane Color Help Needed
« on: October 20, 2015, 07:43:56 AM »
Hello all,
While this is not exactly a custom technically what I'm asking falls under the customizing category, so I felt like it would be appropriate to ask here.

Lately in my travels I found a Bright Eyes twinkle eye who was sold for a ridiculously low price simply because she's missing the very first three plugs of hair, has a bit of body discoloration, and has wonky legs. Body discoloration happens, so I'm not too bothered by it, and I'm sticking a pencil between her legs to get them to separate over time.
I'm not afraid to rehair my ponies, especially not for BE who goes for like $50 everywhere -_- .  But I'm having problems finding an exact match for the white colored hair. I don't want to buy white hair that's going to be way too bright, and I don't want to buy hair that's too dull.  Does anyone know the correct hair color for the white portion of  BEs mane?

I have pics now!

Pony Corral / A Perplexing Situation * 10/30 Update
« on: October 11, 2015, 01:25:05 PM »
Hi all!
So recently I added a lovely G1 Tic Tac Toe to my TE collection, and other than an odd shaped leg she arrived weeks ago in great condition.

However, recently I noticed something off about her. She has these tiny spots on her body that have the appearance of mold, but are not actually in her vinyl. They appear to be on her surface. If I hold her at the right angle, the spots actually have a bit of a shine to them, which I know is not a characteristic of plastic molds, or really anything that effects My Little Ponies. She is not at all sticky, so I don't think it's is a breakdown of the plastic in her body.

Me being the novice restorer I am, quickly used acetone on the markings, and I succeeded in taking quite a few of them off. I also scrubbed her and dried her in the hot sun of a windowsill to kill any potential mold growth (or whatever it is). So I am aware they are removable, but what they are is still a mystery. I  also think they are multiplying. As I said, when I bought her she had nothing off about her at all, and only recently she has had these spots appear. She is displayed with the rest of my MLP collection in a well ventilated room, and none of the other ponies have had any symptoms of the weird spots.

Does anyone have any idea what the heck these things are? I fear they are going to wreck not only Tic Tac, but also my other ponies...

Here's a pic:

UPDATE: Some more of the flecks have come back. I think her plastic is degrading so I am going to try and conquer the stuff with acetone where it can be safely applied. Her symbol has some spots too, but I don't dare use it on the paint. Acetone won't eat the vinyl but I know it will eat paint. If anyone else has had an issue like this please comment or pm me! I need advice as to how to truly remove it..

Price Check Archives / Price Checks on Twinkle Eyes
« on: August 30, 2015, 01:17:19 PM »
Hello lovelies,
I am sure this has already been posted somewhere, or archived in this forum, but I cannot for the life of me figure out the actual price values for the TE ponies are. I am starting out my G1 collection focusing on them, and while I have already bought a couple ( at prices I know are correct and very fair) I am still curious to know the price values of some of the other members of the TE family that I have yet to purchase. Does anyone know these prices off the top of their heads? I am looking for near mint prices, for ponies with very minor flaws. I want to make sure I know I am not getting ripped off if I end up having to pay +$50 for something like a Quackers or Party Time that has their hair cut or huge ink stains on their bodies. Please let me know!

*If there is already a thread of this, feel free too direct me and delete this!

For those of you in need of a refresher, these are the names of the TE's of G1:
Sky Rocket
Mimic
Speedy
Quackers
Bright Eyes
Party Time
Masquerade
Galaxy
Tic Tac Toe
Sweet Pop
Whizzer

I am also curious on pricing for TAF Sugarberry. If anyone knows that, I will be super grateful!

Pony Corral / Chelsea's Restorations- G1 Rescued Peachy *NEW 12/7*
« on: August 25, 2015, 10:32:10 AM »
Hi Guys!
I plan on completing a lot of restorations now that I am collecting MLPs, and instead of posting new threads to show my work each time I have decided to just make a general thread where I will post links to pics showing the restorations I have done, as a sort of archive. This way I can still ask advice for rehairs, customization, etc, and not clog the forums with my junk ^^

What I Have Done So Far
G1 Peachy
G1 So-Soft Paradise
G1 TE Bright Eyes (WIP)

G1 Peachy

Last month I was in a grubby flea market at home when I saw this absolutely filthy Peachy sitting in a bin with a bunch of other dirty toys. I bought her and took her home, where I washed her (intensely) and conditioned her dull hair. Interestingly she was missing her tail and only a few parts of her forelock and mane. The rest of her mane remained intact, which led me to wonder why her hair was cut in certain places and ignored in others. Anywho, I bought Tea Rose from Dollyhair and gave it a shot. I only used the Dollyhair to fill in the plugs and make a tail, so some of the newer hair is a bit brighter than the old. Here is what I got!

So-Soft Paradise *Summer 2015
So recently I completed my first restoration of an MLP doll. She's an 80's So Soft Paradise, and was in pretty lousy condition when I purchased her. Her coloration had dulled to a beige instead of her normal white, and someone had cut the top part of her mane and forelock off. The hair may have also been trimmed in other places, and it was pretty faded and formless. After much restyling of her hair, I decided I wanted to just try my luck at restoring her and so I did.

I then proceeded to place her in a hydrogen peroxide bath for about 3+ weeks. I also removed her hair. I barely lost any flocking, and this was the result! She isn't completely brilliant white, but is a lot less yellow than previously.
3

I ordered some Firebird from Dollyhair, and I used a curved sewing needle to rehair her. This is the final result.

Voila! Let me know what you guys think. I also need some advice; I wasn't really able to secure the new plugs in her mane all that well, and I was wondering, does anyone know a good way to do it? I tried hot glue but it started making a mess so now I figure as long as I am incredibly careful with her hair I will be able to avoid losing hair. In the future, however, I am hoping to avoid this and actually have some way of keeping the plugs from falling out. Please let me know if anyone has any tips!

Introductions / Hello from MA
« on: August 19, 2015, 06:19:33 PM »
Hi there!
My name is Chelsea and I am a newbie collector/restorer of MLPs! As a child of the 90's, I grew up in the era of the G2, and because of this I have quite a few G2, G3, and G4 ponies . What I am currently beginning to search for are the first generation ponies from the 80s.

About Me: I am currently entering my senior year as a student of Zoology within my university. I am a bit of an animal nerd, and I have worked as a wildlife rehabilitation intern, zookeeper, and as a researcher for marine life off the Coast of Maine . I am also very interested in art, and I draw in my spare time.

I am also an avid Pilates freak, and I can be found doing yoga.

I am terrible at intros, I don't really think I forgot anything here! It's nice to meet you all!
