So I went to a flea market today and got a fair haul of ponies, but I've NEVER before seen ponies in person who are as grubby as this bunch! Many of them are definitely moldy, too, I am very sad to say. I posted photos in a brag thread, but here are a few of the worst, just to give you an idea of what I'm up against: visitors can't see pics , please register or loginvisitors can't see pics , please register or loginvisitors can't see pics , please register or login This is going to be quite the project for me! I know that I'm going to start by quarantining these guys all individually with dryer sheets - they all smell musty, even the ones who don't appear too grubby. I assume they've all been hidden away in storage for quite some time, apparently under less-than-ideal conditions. I will likely be posting photos here occasionally, asking for advice as I go through the process of trying to save these beauties, but for now I just have a couple of simple questions: 1) Is it fine to keep each of them in a ziploc freezer bag? I'm not sure whether this would be a problem over a length of time, until I can get to their deep cleaning. 2) Is there a particular sort of dryer sheet that would be best for this? I've never had a need for this before, so I'm in totally new territory here. The next day off I have when the weather is fine, I plan to lay them all out in the shade for some fresh air, but I want to get them quarantined tonight, even if it means a quick trip to Walmart for different bags or dryer sheets than what we have on hand. ><

I went to a flea market today hoping to find maybe a couple G1 ponies, or at least some G3, but never expected to come across a vendor with a whole tub full of G1 and G2 ponies! I bought all of them ($25 for the lot!) and there were a bunch of fakies mixed in as well. I also got another G1 with a G4 and a fakie from another vendor, and a few other fakies from a couple other vendors (all of them on the cheap). All in all, I had a great day. I'm surprised there wasn't even one G3, though! Usually I find a few at things like this, but I certainly won't complain considering everything I did get! I don't plan to sell or trade, but I'm always curious about whether anything I come across is HTF or just sought after, so if you have any information on my new additions, please let me know! Twinkle Dancer is the G1 I got that wasn't in the lot with the rest - she's the first one I saw when I arrived at the flea, and she only cost $1! I think she's just lovely. visitors can't see pics , please register or loginThe G1s from the lot are under the cut: Spoiler VERY grubby unicorns - Windy, Moonstone, and Moondancer visitors can't see pics , please register or loginSundance, a tail-less Lemon Drop, and Seashell: visitors can't see pics , please register or loginScoops and Beach Ball: visitors can't see pics , please register or loginDainty Dahlia, Princess Pristina, and Sugar Apple: visitors can't see pics , please register or loginNight Glider and Birthday Pony: visitors can't see pics , please register or loginDiamond Dreams and Galaxy: visitors can't see pics , please register or loginStarswirl and Lovin' Kisses: visitors can't see pics , please register or loginThese are my first G2s! I never had any when they were new in stores, and I've never come across any in the wild before, except for a couple of McDonald's ones here and there. I'm really happy to have found some in the lot I got! I had to look them up, but it looks like I ended up with McDonald's Ivy, Morning Glory, Ivy, Moon Shadow, Lightheart, and Cupcake. visitors can't see pics , please register or loginThis pink Princess Celestia was the G4 I got: visitors can't see pics , please register or loginAnd now a bunch of fakies! I only just came to the revelation that I am a lover of fakies, so I decided today to completely embrace that by starting to actively collect them, lol. Fakietopia doesn't work anymore (the site expired?), so if you have any information on these at all, I'd be grateful! I think the one in the middle is a Magic Meadow fakie, but I'm not 100% sure. I don't know anything at all about the others. visitors can't see pics , please register or loginMore non-MLP under the cut: Spoiler I believe the yellow one is a fakie of a Remco? I have a few from my childhood that look like it, and I believe that's what I have seen these referred to as. Don't really know anything about the others at all, except that the one on the left appears to be a fakie of a G1-style fancy pants baby, lol. visitors can't see pics , please register or loginI know the purple one is a Lanard, but that is all I know about these two: visitors can't see pics , please register or loginA Buddy L Corp Talk To Me Pony! I have a pink one from childhood, and I loved her. This is my first time posting in this part of the forums, but I'll likely be spending a lot more time over on this board, haha. Yesterday I went to a thrift shop and found this big Patty O'Green doll! I don't really know anything about Rainbow Brite products, as I didn't have them as a kid (I just saw the show sometimes, I was definitely more into ponies!) I couldn't pass this beauty up, though. I found Lucky the light-up sprite today at the flea - he was on a table full of kids' meal toys that I was digging through in hopes of finding a bushwoolie or princess dragon. visitors can't see pics , please register or loginA few more photos under the cut: My sister told me that the sprite is from a re-issue set, but I still like him, he's really cute! Does anyone know what sort of battery he takes? I'd love to see if he still works, but there's no battery inside the casing. Also, the date stamped on his foot says 1983, and so does the stamp on the back of Patty's head (as well as the tag on her butt). But now that I know Lucky isn't actually vintage, I'm not sure if Patty is a re-issue as well, or if she is the real deal. I love her either way, she's adorable! But since I'd like to start really fleshing out a Rainbow Brite collection now that I've got a couple dolls, this would be good to know. If you guys have any kind of PC on them too, that would be great! I don't plan to sell, but I'm always curious if stuff in my collections might be hard to find/sought-after.

So I've been working on my pony blog, which as I mentioned in a post in the Nirvana forum, is meant to be a sort of informative inventory of my collection. I just added a glossary, but I'd love some input from other collectors! Are there any common terms or initialisms you think I missed? http://rainbowstable.blogspot.com/p/glossary.html

Am I right to assume that the Nirvanas all had backcard stories like the regular releases in the US and UK? Or did only some have proper backcard stories? Were they the same as either the US or UK?
I've started working on my pony blog, which is to be an informative inventory of my collection, and I got to thinking about this since I took photos of my Italians this morning. I've seen random photos of some Nirvana backcards or MOC/MIB, but they're always either blurry, small, or don't show the back where the story would be!
If anyone has good quality scans or photos of Italian Bubbles and/or Seashell's backcards, I would love to see them! I have the versions with the "normal," freckled head - not the CP head versions. I'm not sure if that makes a difference.

No G1 ponies this time, but there were a couple G3 that I don't have, and I spotted a ziploc baggie with a handful of small figurines that included the Dream Castle version of Spike! visitors can't see pics , please register or loginI'm so happy to have found something G1 in the wild again - I've had a little bit of a dry spell with them lately! He looks to be in excellent condition, apart from just being generally grubby and having teensy spots of paint rub. Should clean up nicely when I get around to a spa day for him!

So! I checked out a few antique malls today, and had a bit of luck at the first one - a bag of G3s AND two My Pretty Mermaids! Plus, I'd bought a G2 Pretty Parlor on eBay, and that arrived early this evening, so it's been a pretty good pony day for me! The bag of G3 also had this G1-style looking fakie in it - she's pretty cute, but I don't really collect fakies. Does anyone know anything about her? There are no markings on her except on two of her hooves, it says "Made in China." visitors can't see pics , please register or loginPutting the rest of the photos behind a cut. She still has the little light bulb charm around her neck, even. I'm so pleased she was in the bag...I love the holiday edition ponies! Their hands and tailfins have been chewed on by a kitty, it looks like, but other than that, they're in great condition! It came with the box and stickers, and the playset itself is in such beautiful condition - the door hinges are perfect and the color hasn't faded at all! It didn't come with any of the accessories, and I don't have any G2 ponies yet, but I couldn't resist such a nice-looking set inside my budget. I guess now I have a good excuse to start really looking at G2 listings, lol. This is also the reason I have the ottoman for this set advertised in my sig as "wanted" - if you have one, or know of one that's for sale, please PM me! visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Not only was today payday, but I also had the day off - so what better way to spend the day than to do some pony hunting after paying bills? My usual place didn't have anything new, but I did manage to score a respectable few! G1 Twilight! So I was thinking today - how possible would it be to have a dedicated board just for posts about cleaning up/restoring ponies, playsets, and accessories? Like either a separate board or a child board within the Corral? I'm not sure if this is something that has been considered or discussed before, but I think it would be great to be able to have those types of posts readily accessible, instead of having to search and hope you find relevant posts in the results

I really want at least one G3 playset for when I get around to pony spa and photo days. I have a Pretty Parlor for my G1s, and my childhood Home Sweet Home as well. For G3s I'm mostly interested in the surf shop and the Fashion Fun playset (I snagged the photos from the My Little Wiki): visitors can't see pics , please register or loginvisitors can't see pics , please register or loginI really like some of the accessories for the surf shop, but I'm mostly interested in just the shell for the Fashion Fun set. The Fashion Fun is the most equivalent set to the Pretty Parlor, I think. Does anyone have a price check on these? I'd hate to buy one basically as soon as I see one in decent condition, if I can expect to see them at a better price.

Sorry if this has been gone over before, but has anyone ever tried using something that wasn't hair for a custom's mane and/or tail? I've had this idea for a custom nagging at me in the back of my mind, but the only thing I can think to do to achieve the look I'd want would be to use artificial Spanish moss. I know you can buy real, dried Spanish moss as a crafting material, but I'd be concerned about it breaking down quickly unless it's somehow treated. Would this possibly damage a pony? Is it even a realistic possibility? I've never done a custom before, but I keep getting these ideas for ponies I want to see, lol. If you own or have created any ponies with non-hair for their mane/tail, please let me know what you used and how it worked out! Pictures are always welcome as well, of course

I was on my way home from work when I kept feeling like I really NEEDED to go by my usual antique mall to check for ponies. I was really glad that I gave in, because they had a pony friend! visitors can't see pics , please register or login* Blossom (FF) * Baby Glory (who either has some spots of pink highlighter or has a touch of regrind) * Baby Lickety Split (who has a spot that might be cancer? Not sure yet) And...Spunky!!! The only Pony Friend I ever had as a kid was Cutesaurus, but I always wanted the others. They also had a baby Little Pretty Puppy, Rosette and two Fairy Tails birds: another Tiffany Tails and Tickle Tails. This is the third Tiffany Tails I've found at that shop - is she just a really common one to find, like Peachy, since she came with a playset? She's so pretty, though, I don't care. Two of them will be up for sale or trade at some point, lol.

So my dad was up in the attic today, and noticed a clear tub that he could see some ponies in. It's so nice to have more of my childhood herd back in my hands! I was so worried that they'd be a melty, moldy mess, but they're not at all! I mean, yeah, they're a bit grubby, but nothing a spa day won't fix once I get around to that! Also, I'd forgotten that some of my ponies had ended up with haircuts visitors can't see pics , please register or loginHere's a breakdown of who all was in this tub: visitors can't see pics , please register or login* Barnacle * Wigwam * Quarterback (who, sadly, appears to have a case of the pony cancer) * Slugger * Salty visitors can't see pics , please register or login* Mint Dreams * Caramel Crunch * Sparkler * Twirler * Sunspot * Sundance visitors can't see pics , please register or login* Cutesaurus * Wild Flower * Baby Toe Dancer * Baby Tippy Toes * Baby Sweet Steps * Baby Stockings * Yo-Yo * Baby Gusty * Baby Snippy * Baby Dots 'n Hearts * Baby Pockets * Baby Hoppy * Baby Stripes * Baby Nectar * Jangles * Tangles * Rattles * Tattles * Little Tabby visitors can't see pics , please register or loginSome fakies I got at a corner shop when we lived in Sicily visitors can't see pics , please register or loginLittle Pretty Kitty and Little Pretty Puppy...Frosty Fur and Melody visitors can't see pics , please register or loginvisitors can't see pics , please register or loginAnd my Buddy L Corp pony! Seashell and Bubbles are two ponies that I had always wanted but never got...I love everything about them. When I saw that they were listed together on eBay at a reasonable starting bid, I knew I had to keep an eye on that auction. When I saw that they were not only Seashell and Bubbles, but ITALIAN Seashell and Bubbles, that made me even more determined to have them in my collection. I spent two years in Sicily as a kid in the '90s and NEVER realized that MLP was a thing there, so I'm not sure if they were just not terribly common, or if they never quite made it into Sicilian stores, or if we just never went in the right stores to come across them, but Sicily was a HUGE part of my life and my experiences there really shaped who I became and what I have chosen to do with my life. Because of these connections, I feel so beyond thrilled that these two are not only my first of the Italians, but my very first Nirvanas. I'm always in such a good mood when I get out of acting class, and seeing the package with these two waiting to be opened when I got home has just put me over the moon...I really couldn't be happier to have them.

You guys helped me figure out which versions of Blossom I found...now I need to know if there's a way to tell which Parasol I have. I saw that, like Blossom, she had her original release, was released again the next year, and also had a mail order version! Yikes. I'm thinking I probably have one of the regular store releases, but I'm not sure how to tell which one. Are their hoof stamps different at all? Here's mine...
