Off Topic / Silly games that you play with those closest to your heart
« on: August 22, 2014, 01:12:00 PM »
I thought I would post this topic after my husband decided to start up the newest round of "find the so soft fakie blind bags" :P He hid 5 of them throughout the collection room yesterday before he left for work  I found them all this afternoon and I just had to smile.

We have always played silly games like this since we got married 2.5 years ago. I always feel like it's the little things that can bring a smile to my face, make a cruddy day seem not so bad and let me know that he's thinking of me

It all started with "hide the $20", where we took turns hiding/finding a $20 bill throughout the whole house. Of course we would give hints because no spots were off limits. It then switched to "find the celestia blind bag" which could be hidden anywhere but the collection room, since we had doubles of her in there.

I have found these items in the freezer, cupboard, makeup bag, bait drawer etc. My husband has found ponies in his backpack, lunchbag, thermos lid and on his ebike

On our first wedding anniversary, I took post it notes and wrote something sweet on each one, got up extra early and plastered them everywhere (bedroom door fully covered, front door covered, bathroom mirror, kitchen cupboards etc), my husband thought it was the sweetest thing and he was smiling about it all day, since it probably took him till almost the end of the day to locate them all, pull them down and read them :P

So does anyone else here do anything like this with their SO, children, roommates or friends?

Customs / Private swap ponies for DashesnDots
« on: August 13, 2014, 05:09:17 AM »
So DashesnDots and I had so much fun making our Halloween and Winter customs last year that we decided to make Valentine's and Spring/Summer one's for each other. Here are the two that I made for her. I didn't name either of the ponies, I decided to leave that up to Ash :)

The Valentine's Pony was made from a G1 Powder bait, given a FBR, I added these lovely wings that I had purchased in a customizing lot last year, painted on her design, sealed her and finished her off with DH Black Magic, Oyster and Light Pink (the name escapes me right now).

The Spring/Summer Pony was made from G4 Pinkie Pie, given a FBR, sealed with glitter and gloss sealant, the design was painted on and topped off with a rosebud, she was rehaired with 3 DH colours.

Off Topic / Do you hold on to keepsakes from past partners?
« on: August 01, 2014, 02:04:46 AM »
The other day my husband and I were in a taxi and the driver had on some radio talk show and the topic was about mementos/keepsakes from past relationships. The scenario we heard while we were in the cab was that the wife was holding onto pictures of her and an ex from years ago and her husband found them and was feeling quite jealous about it. Listeners were calling in and suggesting that she make copies of the pictures, hide the originals and rip up the copies in front of him.

I turned to my husband and shook my head in disbelief, I felt that dealing with that situation by being deceitful would only lead to further problems down the road. We talked about it once we were out of the cab and he agreed.

Neither myself nor my husband have held on to mementos or keepsakes from past relationships, so no photo's, gifts etc. Even though I don't believe in holding on to items from pervious relationships, I can completely understand why someone else would want to.

So it got me wondering if other people do hold on to those things and whether or not it's something your partner knows about or minds? Or perhaps you don't but your partner does? Just curious how others feel about this or how they would handle the situation that I described above?

Pony Brag Arena / Amazing luck at the thrift store
« on: July 27, 2014, 06:55:42 PM »
It has been quite some time since I've posted a brag but I just had the most amazing finds the other day that I had to share with my fellow arena members.

I found G1 ponies on Saturday :yippee:

Not just 1 or 2, but 13 G1 ponies including 3 m/o pearlized babies :dropjaw:

OMG!!!

We decided to do our regular Wyandotte walk, there are 4 thrift stores that we always look in, anyways we went to our 3rd store and I made a beeline for the back where the toys are, paused to look over some dolls when out of the corner of my eye, I catch sight of ponies, so I bend down and pull the basket out to get a better look. What I discovered completely blew me away. I found G1 after G1 after G1 :dropjaw: I couldn't believe my eyes. I grabbed every single G1 I could find including a baggie with some G1's and fakies.

You should've heard me in the store... I literally yelled out to Mike (who was wandering around in another section) "Babe, JACKPOT!" lmao, he came over and thought I'd found like 1 or 2 things, my arms were so full it wasn't even funny, I'm still in shock lol...

For 13 G1's, 1 G4 and 3 fakies it came to $4.25    Can you believe it?

Customs / Summer Custom for tsukikakushi
« on: July 09, 2014, 07:51:28 PM »
tsukikakushi was my partner for the Summer Custom Swap, she said that she enjoyed spending her summers outside and that she loved to unwind by reading a book while laying on the grass beneath the trees, so I took that information and came up with this gal. Now I neglected to take a close up of the design, but tsukikakushi had mentioned that she's a tomboy, so I wanted to paint the girl to represent that by putting her in a tank top, denim cut offs and adidas sneakers, with her hair tied up.

I'm really glad that she finally arrived and that you love her :) It was so much fun making her for you!

Saja and I did a private stork swap and these are the 2 lovely gals that I made for her.

First up is Baby Mimic Crystal. This baby started off as baby Moondancer in really rough shape, so I gave her an FBR, added some patina blue to her hooves, muzzle and ears. I then painted on her symbols choosing to do the symbols in opposite colours of Ice Crystal and Mimic. Finally she was rehaired using DH.

and here is Baby Masquerade Night. This baby was given a FBR, I sculpted the wings using apoxie sculpt (first time ever sculpting), attached the wings, added the symbols and finished her off by rehairing her using DH.

I had so much fun making these babies for you Saja, you gave me such a great list of paired up ponies to choose from, but these just jumped out at me. Thanks for such a fun learning opportunity :)

Customs / Dark Forest Fairy - Things with Wings pony for Uninu
« on: April 14, 2014, 11:19:16 AM »
I got the lovely Uninu as a partner for the TWW swap and she had quite an impressive list of ideas to choose from. I decided to go with a Dark Fairy using black and pink for the colour scheme. At first this pony was intimidating and frustrating to no end, I tried sculpting wings several times with several mishaps along the way. Finally I decided that sculpting just wasn't going to work, so instead I decided to make my very first fantasy film wings.

This pony started out as a G1 bride pony, was given a FBR in a custom blend of purple/black pearlescent acrylics. I then decided to have some fun and splatter hot pink and black all over the pony, as well as my kitchen and myself, you should've seen the look on my husbands face when he got home from work :P

I rehaired this girl using DH, added the wings on and then decided to add some foliage to the wings and to her updo to really give her an enchanted forest vibe. Added some pink pins and some curl to her tail and Voila!

So I was just looking through the flyers for the sales starting tomorrow and in the Target flyer I saw the brand new Rainbow Rocks EQD advertised at $10

Then I looked through the Walmart flyer and it has the new TAF (that's what I'm calling it lol) Rainbow Rocks Brushable Ponies for $4.88

I have no idea if they are officially released yet or if it's a misprint, but just thought I'd throw it out there :)

Off Topic / 20 Year Anniversary - Death of Kurt Cobain
« on: April 04, 2014, 10:55:12 PM »
So, I don't know about anyone else here but I was a diehard Nirvana fan growing up. I truly identified with the music, not a day went by that I didn't blast their songs. I even remember plans to get tickets to Woodstock '94 only to find out that Kurt Cobain was dead.

I cried when I heard the news. Never had I felt more connected to a band than I did with them. For the first time in my life, I felt like someone else got me and understood where I was coming from. All of that was shattered when I learned the news. I was devastated.

Throughout the years, I've come to realize that although I am a fan of several bands, some still together, others now defunct, none will ever come close to having the same kind of impact and presence that Nirvana did.

So, were any of you a fan of his/theirs? How did you feel when you found it? Do you still remember that day as though it were yesterday? I do. I remember everything from where I was to what I was wearing to who I was hanging out with at the time.

Trader & Shipping Support / Ebay Non Pony Purchase
« on: March 10, 2014, 11:00:04 AM »
Alright, so I have a pretty silly question to ask, but for the sake of clarification I will ask anyways.

So I purchased a non pony item from ebay and I was just checking the tracking on it, to my dismay it appears to have not been shipped out until a week after the label was printed  Would that appear to be correct based on the information below?
