Hosted by Sunshine!  visitors can't see pics , please register or loginSo what is an Alternate Rehair Swap?It's the swapping of G1 ponies that have been given new colored hair, that you rehaired yourself.   To Join: you must have been an arena member for 6 months, have a minimum of 300 posts and 10 positive arena feedback, and show 3 examples of previous rehair work. that's it!  The Rules:This is a G1 only swap! This is NOT a full custom swap; don't do a full body repaint, or make a new pony or anything. However, you are allowed to re-do eye and symbol colors for the sake of matching the new hair. No restores to original hair color(s), get creative! Hair must be doll quality material; do not use wigs or hair accessories as a source May be rehaired with yarn as a 'perfume puff' style Ponies may be flawed, but nothing substantial. An acceptable flaw list will be provided. Rehair must be done neat, and hair glued in. Must be willing to ship internationally secret word is Paddlefish must be able to meet deadlines and finish on time. I am so so picky about displaying my G1s that I have 99% of them in storage to protect them from dust, sunlight and most of all in my house - animal fur -  - and I finally finally found a tiny little display case that meets my requirements of having glass doors (haha I'm too cheap to buy expensive NEW display cases yet...) It's so small I can only fit my sea pony collection in there... But I really wanted to share as I had a ton of fun trying to get all these gals to stand (sheesh I really need to get the rest of the floats/shells, haha! Easier said than done...) and since it's my first piece of my collection I am actually able to display (since I really consider G1s my "collection" and all other gens are just "because they're MLP" basically, haha) So, anyway I wanted to share  Closed doors (yes it needs a bit of TLC but for the price, I think I can work with it, haha ) visitors can't see pics , please register or loginOpen doors: visitors can't see pics , please register or loginNow if only I could get the rest of the floats and shells... and Nirvana sea ponies... lol oh my never ending eh? Okay I have some random shoes I got in a really mixed up doll group, well - pony group. It came with Megan, but Megan was wearing a Lady Lovely Locks Dress. And then had her original panties... but also had these shoes. And these shoes looked like.. they were about 1 size too small for Megan, and I looked at them and they don't look like Megan's (or Molly's) shoes. (Nothing on the wiki looks like them: http://mylittlewiki.org/wiki/Megan_and_Molly_Wear) I also looked up Lady Lovely Locks, but all of hers seem to be shimmery, and have flowers. Hey Nirvana gurus! I just had a weird question... So many Nirvana ponies have different or weird or unique tail clamps - like, I was looking at one of my Italian ponies and she has that weird, vertical clamp with the fluted edge versus the regular tail washer you see in like the average US release pony. So... what I wanted to know is, if a Nirvana has a cut tail, or a missing tail, and it is replaced (let's for now, say it's replaced with a genuine MLP tail, but probably not like necessary the same Nirvana tail, ya know? So Italian Peachy I replace with a US Peachy tail, or something) - but now I have to use zip ties to keep it in, versus the weird, Italian tail clamp. Now on a Nirvana I would always mention a replacement tail if I was selling one with one - but does having a tail that is missing that clamp affect the value? Not missing but, replaced with zipties - so, you've changed the original tail situation. I hope that makes sense? What about in a situation where you're restoring tail rust and you need to ditch the clamp or whatever but can use the original tail, with zipties? I'm just wondering because I know for like a US pony, if you're using a replacement MLP tail, the fact that it's ziptied vs with a washer very rarely affects the value of the pony, and does prevent things like tail rust in the future, etc.... The reason I ask is because I have a few Nirvanas with cut tails and I was thinking about replacing them and then I started wondering about these tail clamps and how they affect the value of a pony... Thank you for all your input!

I just want to see what piece of G1 merch you'd save over everything else if you could only have ONE piece! Well, they're all customs that I'm about to brag about... but only one of them was... expected! I commissioned TexasGal to make me a G4 brushable style Swift Wind (as I love SW, and am definitely wanting like a bazillion MLP custom versions of her, this is my first to come home to my herd though!) - and we're pretty good friends I would say so we chat a lot on FB and here, etc... and I was getting photo updates the whole time, just falling more and more in love with this gal... But now I can say that the photos don't even do her cuteness justice! She's like... a perfect replica of Swift Wind - except I wanted pink hair and hooves instead of the orange/brown that Swift Wind has in the cartoons. And she's just... ahh I dunno she's so cute that she just makes me STARE at her and drool! I was spoiled with surprises in the box along with Swift Wind... an amazing set of customs for my armies of Peachy and Moonstone! These newborns are absolutely flawless! They are SO adorable! I don't have any custom Moonstone's yet, and this is probably -the- cutest Moonstone that could ever be! Peachy too! I made a DeBBE baby Peachy but now she looks like a monster next to this adorable Newborn Peachy! visitors can't see pics , please register or loginAnd it didn't end there... there were also two BLIND BAG version of Moonstone and Peachy!! I don't even know how you paint such fine details but these gals are so beautiful! Hey all, I was wondering if someone could help me understand how to recognize a Scandinavian NSS pony from a deflock? I tried to search the forums but only came up with a thread about Scandinavian Gusty, but I'm talking more about ponies that were SS in the US but we released there as NSS versions? Are there pose variations or anything like that? What are they marked on the hooves? Thank you!

I finished a really... weird custom, I wanted to share with you because you all make such lovely customs..  I call her Petunia. She started as a really disgustingly yellow Valentine's Baby. I tired my darnedest to save her, she spent time in Oxy, even after I took her hair out because I know Oxy kills that color hair... then her symbols were yellow, her body never whitened. She spent days in the sun. Ugh it was awful. Nothing I could do for her. So, I had this idea of covering a pony in flowers... she's my first attempt. I'm not sure she's exactly what I pictured but I had fun making her... and will probably attempt more ponies with some sort of flower effect in the future, maybe a Mommy? (I was thinking TAF Scoops wold be a perfect candidate, if anyone has one *hinthint* ) Anyway, she's been rehaired with multiple (I forget how many) different colors of greens, in both poly and nylon, curled around and winding out and down her body. She's got flowers (obviously) all over her body, and I painted some stems/vines winding through them and down the open space on her leg, neck and face. Her eyes have also been repainted green, and she has hints of glitter on her eyes and leaves on her body as well. So, one of my favorite people ever - Shenanigans, who's so super thoughtful - just surprised the heck outta me with a lovely Vday RAOPK annndddd COOKIES!!  She sent me a lovely box, full of pony shaped cookies that looked like Heart Throb and Truly! They were like perfect replicas! Some of their legs didn't make it in tact but, they were just as delicious... believe me... they... are like all gone... omg... And, not only the cookies, but I got a beautiful hand-made card, inside was a drawing of Fizzy (going up on my art wall!) and then two absolutely gorgeous ponies!! Silly Sunshine (how fitting!!  ) and G4 Rainbow Flash *faint* I can't believe it! visitors can't see pics , please register or loginThank you so much hun! But you know how it goes with tupperware right? You gotta return it, and you can't return it empty! So be prepared! You really made my day!  Thank you again!

Okay, I posted another Show Me thread but I don't think that the topic is really.. all that explored by customizers here, a few have popped up there but.... This topic however, I've been wanting to post for a few weeks now... so, please read: I want to say thank you to all the artists, customizers, rehairers out in the world... I want to say thank you because your artistic talent is saving these ponies from being thrown out, turned into recycled pop bottle tops or plastic lawn chairs. The fact that you can take a pony who's beyond "saving" for normal display purposes and transform them into a beautiful and amazing piece of art... well you're saving that pony and keeping it a pony by doing this! I was talking to a friend of mine who collects coins. He said that he wishes he could find a community like ours, where he could only sell to collectors and not to people who were going to use the coins for other purposes - i.e., melting them down for the metal itself. Now, he brought up a great point - when you melt down a coin, it's no longer a coin of any kind... it's over for it being a coin... But with ponies... when they get to the point of being discarded, ground up or thrown away - we have artists who come to the rescue and turn them in to customs. And that keeps them PONIES, and doesn't let them go away. They're still ponies even if they're not factory. So, what I wanted to say was THANK YOU for all the artists who do this, THANK YOU for taking the time to save some of these poor ponies and make them beautiful again! 
And what I wanted to see is... Show me customs that have come from ponies who were just in AWFUL condition, ready to go in the trash if you couldn't do anything for them - maybe they had missing parts, or covered in marker, or burnt or you only ended up with a head... etc... - show me the transformations if you have Before/After pics too! I want to see how amazing our community of customizers/rehairers etc. is!

Okay guys, this is a really weird request!  But I have a fear of MOTHS. Yes. Those little night-time butterflies. They terrify me. I'm not really all that fond of butterflies (near me) either but I can handle going into butterfly houses, looking at them on flowers, etc. Moths, I have to be behind glass, or I'll just start freaking out. OKAY, So, my request is... has anyone made a MOTH related pony? I know there are TONS of butterfly-esque customs, but I'm talking about the more dark, "sinister" cousin of the butterfly! Dunno if anyone's made one, but... I eagerly and nervously await your photos!
