i was discussing nirvana prices with some friends and they were wondering how much this girl is up to nowadays, and now im curious too =P

dont have one and not really lookin for one just wonderin where her value is sitting at nowadays =]

i know the topic has been brushed on, but i just wanted to clarify what i understand.

*its typically 3 colors, two colors on one row of plugs and the third color with a doubled color on the other row (ie if its black, white, and gray, then row A would have black and gray while row B would have white and gray)

what i want to doublecheck is HOW theyre staggered in the plug rows. from pics ive seen it looks like something like 3 plugs of each or so. can someone verify this or correct me on the plug counts?

now taking signups for the Thanksgiving/November atc swap!

what is an ATC, you say? well its a tiny drawing (the size of a baseball card, 2.5" x 3.5"), you can find blank pre-cut ATC cards at places like Hobby Lobby and i believe Walmart- by paper supplies or baseball/collectible cards and such. (and if you cant find them you can make your own by cutting out the proper sized paper- thats what i did for a while)

this swap requires no feedback (and is a great way to build up feedback while getting cute drawings from different people)

all skill levels are accepted and encouraged! just try your best!

taking signups til a next saturday, (nov 10th) partners will be randomly assigned and posted by Sunday 11th, then you have til the end of the month to complete and mail off at least one atc (tho if you want to make multiple for your partner by all means run with it) if your card is going to be late thats fine, we all know Real Life happens, just let your partner know.

Pm your partner for their address once you know who you have, dont forget to send them yours too!

keep this thread updated so we know everyones status. let us know when youve finished a card and when you mail it- and when you get any! if for some reason you have to drop out of this midway let me know and i will make a spare card myself to cover your partner.

if you have a scanner/camera feel free to post pictures of the card(s) you get, everyone loves to see pretty ponies!

ive been talking about it and ive been thinking about it, but mostly ive been hiding from it... but ive finally just given up and done it. =P ive been wanting to customize for ages now but i kept finding reasons to put it off when finally boredom kicked in (and minor sewing burnout) and i finally picked up the brush and hairing tool... then 3 days later... BABY FIZZY! =3

got a lovely ratty baby moondancer bait and cut out what was left of her hair, scraped and scrubbed the rust and general ickyness out of her, and primed her white... after painting pewter DnD minis for 20 years i cant NOT prime something.. its just blasphemy to me... tho i know others skip it and do very well, i just cant bring myself to not prime anything.

cut out the irises of her eyes with a fine Xacto knife, then beveled the egdes a bit so the gem will sit closer to the surface of the eye.

sanded her down with 700 grain sandpaper wil she was smooth again and painted in Folk Art and Americana acrylics for the most part. when she was fully dry the next day i set her gems in and anchored them in place with GreenStuff.

once the putty had dried all the way i haired with DollyHairs Tea Rose, Virgin Snow, Heartthrob, and Sea Nymph using the lovely Maniah's hairing tool i bought from her probably 6 months ago (yep, im the master of putting something off... i make procrastination an artform) while hairing one of her eyes fell in. i swore a bit when i heard her rattling but it was no big deal, the greenstuff is strong stuff but it has nothing to 'hold on to' in the head and the bending of the vinyl when i was hairing made it ley go of the smooth inner surface of the pony head-so i just shook out the eye then pulled the second one out too, which was becoming loose too. finished rehairing and glued it down with Tacky Glue and a q tip.

after letting the glue in her hair dry i went back and re-puttyd her eyes in and sealed her up. after letting her hairglue dry a day i combed it out and gave her a tiny trim, tho i think ima give her a gentle shampoo and condition before cutting her mane a bit shorter and giving her a neckwrap or something simple. she is sealed with Testors Dullcoat.

i was originally planning on doing 3 floats as her symbol, but after some more thought on the adult-to-baby ratio i figured 1 float would be closer to accurate.

i have a tray of bait primed and drying now, next up... Masquerade!

baby Masq =] i wish her eyes were a bit brighter but i couldnt find any good chartruce gems anywhere and had to settle on either a dark emerald or a washed out light green. the lighter one was closer to her true color so i went with that.

baby Whizzer =] couldnt find any good blueish purple gems (since in different pics her eyes sometimes look blue- and my whizzer is so beat up its hard to tell what its supposed to be lol) so i went with a nice vibrant purple.

the bf had the day off so i managed to get out of the house (only one car atm so i only really get out when hes home) he went to watch the game with his fam (eew- on both topics) so i stole the car and made the half- hour ride out to my parents house to pick up some pony mail that had accidently been delivered there... while i was there i figured id show them the quilt ive been working on cause theyre all sewers and have been watching the progress on facebook (and my sister tells me my mom will actually hijack her arena account to look at the pics of it here too haha)... so i go to the house, get my mail... and no family.

so the hunt was on.

its kind of a game for me when i randomly pop into town to visit, cause i never know who works when, and since my sister is the only one with a phone if shes at work i cant call for clues. so i drove to the mall where both mom and dad work, nope they say both are off today... so i turn around and start heading toward the library- their home away from home. i swing by the house again on the way to the library to make sure i didnt just miss them- nope still not in... so i drive the next few blocks to Gail Borden (our public library)

i see my dads truck in the lot as im waiting on the turn arrow. i knew i should have just gone straight to the library instead of driving the next few miles to their work, all well. i still give myself partial points for getting it on the second guess.

THEN i see the signs and balloons everywhere... BOOK SALE TODAY.

i resist the urge to rear end the person in front of me so i can turn already.

its a close thing.

finally managed to get in and scored a parking space in the front lot, which i take as a good omen- i usually end up having to park in the side lot waaaaay over there. and im just a few cars away from their truck.

inside the signs advertise the books are $5 for a bagfull and $10 for a box (and the boxes werent small)

i made myself behave and went with a bag, tho im sure given proper browsing time i could easily fill a box haha. A few authors im familiar with, but most were just impulse grabs. i can usually fit about twice as many books into a bag this size, but my folks had already been there for a while and were wanting to leave soon, so i just nabbed what i could til the bag was at least decently full, if not splitting. also got maybe 7 or 8 books my mom wanted (not pictured)

i kinda wish i could have browsed for another hour or so, im sure there was a lot more there id have liked, but it was crazy packed and broken into loose genres, and since im on a supernatural romance kick, its hard to find them since they can fall into like 4 categories... and the romance section was about 4 long tables worth, and triple stacked, and a sea of pink covers. ugh. nothing like looking for the one vamp/werewolf book in a sea of fluff.

let me know if you recognize any of them and what you thought about it/the author. just dont tell me how it ends or ill cry. =P

hey all, its been too long since weve had an atc swap, so im taking matters into my own hands =P

this is a bit of a last minute thing, i was planning on just doin the october one, but i cant wait that long so yay for mini swap!

signups run til sunday sept 16th, ill try to post partners monday the 17th (PM your partner for their address, and dont forget to tell them yours!), then draw draw draw like the wind! make sure your atc is in the mail before the 30th (or at least let me/your partner know if itll be a bit late, thats fine.)

what are atcs? the answer is: AWESOME. lol basically theyre 2.5" x 3.5" drawings. if you dont want to cut your own out (like i had to do for the longest time) then most craft stores carry blank ATCs by either paper or baseball card type stuffs. if youre using thinner paper make sure you put something firm behind your atc so it wont get damaged in the mail, i usually use thicker plastic card sleeves. they work like a dream. this is a swap for all skill levels, just try your best! =]

since this is a last minute thing im making it themeless to let you guys run with any ideas you might have. so everyone post a couple ideas of scenes/ponys/etc that you think would be cute, or if you dont care/wanna see what your partner comes up with, just say so. =]

please post to the thread when your atc is finished and in the mail so all atcs will be accounted for, and if youre able to, post pictures of what you get, thats half the fun, seeing the shiney new artwork =D
