Off Topic / Tamagotchis
« on: September 03, 2012, 06:28:52 PM »
The thread about Micropets got me thinking about all of the virtual pet toys I loved. And my favorite of all was my Tamagotchi! My parents ordered it off of Amazon and it was one of the fist things I remembered getting from online. I asked my mom every day to check that tracking number! By the time it finally came, everyone had moved on to the next craze! So I had no one to connect with lol.

So share your Tamagotchi stories, pics, whatever!

Also wondering if anyone might have any interest in buying/ trading for one. I'm sick of buying batteries only to have the thing die!

Pony Corral / TRU Favorites Question
« on: August 28, 2012, 03:02:43 PM »
To anyone who got the Favorites Collection (pack with Nightmare Moon), have you noticed anything odd about some of the ponies' hair? The blue-haired ponies (DJ PON3, Trixie, the yellow one with the name I forgot) seem to have different textured hair almost. It's hard to explain, but it feels a little coarser, and has an almost metallic sheen to it, if that makes sense. Like it's slightly glossier than the other ponies' hair. Am I the only one who noticed this, or have others seen it, too? Thanks!

I had my first bit of pony luck at the thrift store today, and grabbed a bag of toys for $1.41. In the bag was some junk I tossed, as well as a Sunny Daze and McD's Applejack! Sunny Daze is my absolute all time favorite pony, so I was thrilled to find her. Now I'm going to attempt to clean her up a bit.

When I got home I washed both ponies in very very very hot water and Dawn dish soap. I conditioned both of them, and Sunny Daze is currently hanging by her hoof magnet on my (off) radiator, so any water that might have gotten in her will hopefully drain out of her tail hole over the course of a few days. I've left the conditioner in for a while, and she's got a strip of toilet paper secured around her neck and under her tail hole to absorb water. Plus, I'm going to slip one of those silica gel packets between her and the tp to get the last of the moisture (hopefully!).

So I have two questions. Sunny cleaned up pretty well with just the soap, but she's still a bit gray in areas (around her cheek and near her mane). I was thinking of trying out a Magic Eraser, since I heard they work wonders. Tips for that?

But my big question was this: should I take her head off to clean her inside, or am I better off leaving her alone? I'm reluctant to try, only becuase I'm afraid of cutting the plastic or otherwise damaging her. She doesn't seem all that dirty, either, and from the outside I can't see any mold or rust. I just wonder what most collectors do if they just want a basic clean. Suggestions?

Thanks!

Pony Corral / Anyone else's Target like this?
« on: August 08, 2012, 05:59:05 PM »
Posted in another thread- but I thought I'd ask in a new one for better response!

I checked out my local Target today for the new CE stuff, only to find that the entire toy section had been shuffled around. Lo and behold, the ponies have dissapeared! No empty pegs, shelf space, or price stickers for them, either. I asked an employee, who was new and confused, who gave me a confusing, "There should be stuff somewhere" response. I mentioned that the last time I was in, they had been clearencing the pony stuff, and I thought it had been to make room for the new wave of toys. He pointed me to the clearance aisle and walked away.

So what gives? I'm kinda panicking that my Target has discontinued the ponies, which seems unlikely. I've gotta go back tomorrow to pick up my roll of film, so I'll see if anything was unpacked in the meantime, or if a more knowledgable employee can give me any leads. I just wondered if anyone else had experienced this!

Pony Brag Arena / yay~
« on: August 06, 2012, 01:42:49 PM »
Look who was waiting for me when I got home from my cruise!

My grandparents were awesome enough to allow one to be sent to them for my sister, and they picked up the :muffin: Pony that was left on our front step rather than let her sit there for a week. So I finally got her today when we went over their house! All of my waiting paid off!

Though she looks a little odd towering above the other ponies, since she's my only FS. Gotta get the Cadence/ Shining Armour set to make her feel less awkward!

Pony Brag Arena / Tiny Little Brag~
« on: July 25, 2012, 05:18:30 PM »
I was out pony hunting today, hoping to snag some of the Crystal Empire stuff at a Target. Unfortunately, they didn't have any of the sets I wanted in stock yet, but I found some Wave 3 Blind Bags in Walmart! I finally got my Lyra, and I'm so happy! Grabbed Big Mac for my sister, using the cheat codes I found here (I was thrilled that they worked)! So it's a small brag, but I'm gald I found her!

Off Topic / Steiff, anyone?
« on: July 23, 2012, 08:33:40 AM »
I was wondering if there are any other Steiff collectors out there in Ponyland! I only have two at the moment, the Big Foot Blonde teddy and Trotty the Tortoise, because they're kinda pricey for me. I get them when I go to EPCOT down in Disney World, because they sell them in the German pavillion. I love these little guys, and I'd love to have more some day. Anyone else?

Pics are always welcome, and I'll try to add some later!

Pony Corral / Brushes vs Combs
« on: July 17, 2012, 10:07:32 AM »
I'm curious. Do you pony people prefer the brushes or the combs for your pony hair styling needs? The various gens have come with either or, but is there one you like better? Or maybe you've got something special that you use instead. Maybe you don't even bother with them!

I, personally, prefer the combs. I find them easier to use when trying to seperate plugs of hair, and I find that the hair gets stuck in them less than with the brushes. The brushes have the advantage of being larger, but when a pony has knotted hair it tends to just get stuck in it.

What do you think?

The Dollhouse / Doll Hair Styling
« on: July 04, 2012, 03:04:16 PM »
I recently washed out my Operetta's hair and attempted to re-curl her victory rolls. They've held up for a while, but they're starting to come loose. Now, I'd just like to give her a side or a middle part. Does anyone know how to do this without leaving a bald strip where the part is? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

This thread can also be for general doll hairstyling questions, if anyone wants.  :)

Off Topic / Theater
« on: June 07, 2012, 03:25:08 PM »
So who else in the Arena loves Broadway? I'm lucky enough to live pretty close to NYC, so I get to see a show every now and again. I've seen:
-Wicked- My first Broadway show, and I loved it! Saw it with the original cast, sans Kristen Chennowith (spelling?) and it was fantastic. I saw it again last month and it was still just as good.
-Beauty and the Beast- school field trip, don't remember much, but it was good!
-The Little Mermaid- I absolutely loved the staging of this! The underwater scenes were cleverly done, and Sierra Bogges is one of my faovirte actresses!
-Anything Goes- I actually liked this one a lot! Catchy music, and a funny story, plus a great cast.

I'm dying to see Phantom of the Opera at some point, becuase I love the story so much.

So talk about anything Broadway! What you've seen, what you want to see, anything. Oh, and feel free to discuss other productions (like touring productions, West End, and everything in between!)

Introductions / Hi everypony!
« on: March 05, 2012, 04:53:56 PM »
Hello everyone! I'm Mosspath, a brand-new member! I do believe an introduction is in order:

I've got a story that's probably similar to most collectors. I was a G3 kid, no doubt about it. My sister and I had a few ponies that were a sort of "joint herd" between the two of us. They were hers, primarily, but we had such fun playing together! I have great memories of making deals over who would get to play as Sunny Daze, the unquestionable herd favorite.
Flash forward a few years, and we're older. The ponies were moved into the closet, but (thankfully!) never thrown out or forgotten. They'd make it out now and again when we felt nostalgic, but for the most part, they were in storage. After all, big girls don't play with plastic ponies.
October 2010. My sister, flipping through tv channels, sees that there's a new My Little Pony show on The Hub, some new kids channel. The two of us figure we'll watch it for laughs. But I think the two of us were secretly excited. Could I really love ponies again?
The answer was, of course, a big yes! We were quickly hooked to the series, even waking up early on Saturdays to catch the newest episode. And when I found out they had new toys, well, that's when the real fun began!
My herd started off with the single Pinkie Pie as a birthday gift from my sister. Boy, has it grown! As of now I've got almost 30 ponies! We dug the G3s out, and they currently reside in my sister's herd, along with her growing G4 collection. Truth be told, I still sneek in brush them sometimes!

So how'd I get here? When I was looking up how to identify and fix the long-boxed G3 herd (the hair!!), I found the Arena. I thought how friendly you all were, but I didn't see myself as a true collector, with only one pony to my name. But the herd grew, as did the amount of time I spent browsing the topics here. So I figured it was about time I joined!

My herd is only G4s for now, but I like the G1 and G3s as well, and hope to add them soon. My favorite G1 pony is probably Firefly. G3 is definatley Sunny Daze, the original favorite. As for G4, I love Twilight Sparkle in the show, but my favorite toy is the blindbag Sweetcream Scoops (her colors are so pretty!). My other loves in life include The Beatles, art, and Disney.

Wow, that was a long one! Hugs if you read the whole thing! Hope to see you around the arena!
