Pony Corral / What is this for?
« on: April 29, 2013, 01:21:01 PM »
So....I have this marked (from a long time ago) as "Parlor" lace and blanket...but did the Pretty Parlor (or the Sweet Shoppe Parlor) come with lace and a blanket? If not, what does this go to?

Off Topic / Do you wear a wristwatch? (Need interview!)
« on: November 03, 2012, 10:29:30 AM »
I am doing a project for a college class and need to interview "three diverse people." I already interviewed an 87-year-old neighbor and am now looking for someone in a foreign county (outside of the USA) as a second one and also possibly someone who is young (ages 8-13) as a third one. If anyone is willing to interview with me, please reply with your age and profession, and in a few hours I'll check back and see who I think my professor would be most happy with, LOL. :P Only other criteria is that you must have Skype or an Instant Messanger program so we can do the interview "face to  face" (so to speak).  The interview will take about 10 minutes. ;)

Thank you!!

Pony Corral / Strawberry Fair's Rehairing Service is Closing
« on: September 12, 2012, 06:39:55 PM »
After many wonderful years, I am closing Strawberry Fair’s Rehairing Business. Ponies were a very special part of my life for a long time, and after I stopped collecting, my rehairing business was a great way to stay part of the community. This fall, however, I decided to attend college full-time, and I simply do not have any time to keep up with it anymore. I have met so many AMAZING people and always received wonderful feedback about my work, and I am incredibly thankful to all of my customers who made it such a fantastic part of my life. Closing my business was not a decision that I made lightly.

I have a very large stock of Dollyhair that I will be selling. Please visit this thread to see the hair for sale.

Thank you again to everyone for their support and business over the years!

Lots of love,
Strawberry Fair (Alissa)

Off Topic / Grammar question?
« on: August 07, 2012, 09:18:41 AM »
How should this be written?

Quote
Between two- to five million birds

Should it be "between two million and five million?" Or "two and five million?" Or even "two- and five-million?"

Can't quite figure it out!

Hey guys! I just wanted to let you know that my rehairing service has moved!  I decided to switch over to a free hosting service (don't worry, it's ad-free!) so if you happen to have it bookmarked, please visit through >>> THIS LINK <<< and re-bookmark it!

Otherwise, if you simply type in the same address (www.mlprehairing.com) in the address bar, click on my signature, or type in a "Strawberry Fair's Rehairing Service" on Google, you will get to the new site just fine. ;)

Thank you for your continued business!

All the best,
Strawberry Fair :)

Customs / Phantom of the Opera: Erik & Christine (G1)
« on: March 27, 2012, 03:46:26 PM »
Just wanted to clarify that I am NOT closing my rehairing business (www.mlprehairing) - I am always open for business there! ;)

The last of my customizing! I have to concentrate on college so these are probably the last customs I will make. So bittersweet!

Erik and Christine were a work-in-progress for a long time (along with my other Broadway set!) I finally finished them this week. I'm fairly pleased with how they turned out, and sadly the photos do them no justice! Both are painted with Testors acylics and rehaired with high quality hair. Erik's display side has a beautiful red Apoxie rose, and Christine's display side features a beautifully sculpted mirror in gold leaf, accented with Swarovski crystals (display side had a pretty swirl of crystals, not pictured). The mirror is actually reflective, but Christine doesn't realize the cracks are foreshadowing a dark adventure ahead!

UPDATE: the pair has been sold :)

Customs / Need just a little apoxie sculpt?
« on: February 14, 2012, 08:30:05 AM »
I was wondering if someone would be so kind to sell me just a bit of apoxie sculpt? I had a little left but I tried mixing it last night and it's too old.  I would just need a tablespoon of each part (A and B).  I need to make a bridle and another small accessory for a custom. Please PM me if you can help out! It would be VERY much appreciated!  ^.^

Customs / Baby Alphabet's hair color?
« on: February 13, 2012, 10:34:59 AM »
Does anyone know which Dollyhair yellow Baby Alphabet is? I'm guessing it's "Yellow Fever" but I want to make sure it isn't "Butterfly" or "Pineapple."

Also, the stripe on Moondancer's hair -- does anyone know which purple this is?

Thank you!

Customs / Six Broadway Customs (many years in the making!)
« on: February 11, 2012, 02:18:30 PM »
You know how some projects just seem to go  on....and on...and on? These customs have been in the works for several  years - I would get so far on them before having to focus on other  things in my life. Finally they are finished! I'm a huge Broadway fan  and started out with a CATS custom, then Les Miserables, and then  decided to make a full set of six.

They are for sale here!

 Enjoy!

*SOLD* The Lion King– SIMBA. Debuting on July 8, 1997, The Lion King is still one of the most successful and popular Disney musicals of all time. This proud “lion” custom features a hand-molded apoxie mane and the iconic logo in fiery red gold leaf, also used on the zebra-striped heart hoof. Also included are a zebra-print display stand and several authentic African hand-carved animals (obtained several years ago from an African tribe).

Les Miserables – COSETTE A timeless musical based on the novel by Victor Hugo guaranteed to stir your emotions! This Les Mis custom is the face of the show—Cosette—and features a youthful pony with freckles and rags in her hair. Her hoof heart is the French flag embellished with a sparkling Swarovski crystal. Cosette’s symbol is the show’s iconic image, a decal that has been painstaingly hand-painted and shaded. A golden cross hangs from a delicate chain around her neck.

*SOLD* Phantom of the Opera – ERIK One of the most powerful musicals of all time, the Phantom of the Opera is also the world’s longest-running musical. The custom wears a white leather mask and his 3-Dimensional symbols (and hoof heart) feature a rose and candlestick, the flickering flame accented in glitter. Erik’s golden metallic eyes, said to shine like a cat’s in the darkness, are accented with a Swarovski crystal. His hair is dark brown with a streak of crimson, and his display stand is accented by a golden candelabra and a single rose tied with a black ribbon.

Starlight Express – PEARL A very special custom for a special show! Though notably one of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s least favorite creations, Starlight Express has a cult following with its vibrant costumes and 80’s music. Pearl, who has been created with a special pearlescent finish, wears her signature “Observation” dress, skirt, and hairstyle. From her crown to her display stand, she is decorated in her namesake! Such a spunky girl deserves some sparkle, so Pearl’s symbols and eyeshadow is dusted with glitter. She even has a transparent, iridescent star beneath each eye to pay tribute to her show. Pearl comes with non-removable roller skates that were specially designed just for her!  Accessory is a miniature train decorated to represent Pearl’s friends: Dinah, Buffy, Ashley, and Caboose.

Cats – RUM TUM TUGGER Jellicle cats come out tonight! For 18 years, CATS was the longest-running show on Broadway, and for good reason! This spectacle of pure magic continues to capture the heart of young and old alike. Rum Tum Tugger is a cat with an attitude, and from his gold-spiked collar to his massive ruff, every detail has been captured in this custom! His hoof heart is cleverly disguised as one of his leopard spots, and Tugger’s symbol is the bright yellow CATS eyes. He even comes with a miniature sheet music book of the musical’s famous balled “Memory.”

Wicked – ELPHABA One of the “must-see” shows of the 21st century, Wicked has been a smash hit since it premiered on October 30, 2003. “Elphie” is a beautiful custom with Elphaba’s classic braid, felt hat, and ruby slippers (with a hoof heart to match!) Her symbol is a 3-dimensional Grimmerie, the book of spells, which was created based on the description in Gregory Maguire’s novel, complete with purple pages and adorned with several multi-colored Swarovski crystals.
