ARG! So I bought a Shine Bright Twilight on Boxing Day and her light-up mechanism was entirely dead. I emailed Hasbro and they agreed to send me a replacement. Four weeks later, I pick up a box from my post office and see this:

It came with a letter that they were out of stock of the Shine Brights, so they replaced my order with something of equal value. They couldn't even send something else from the FiM line? They probably have stacks of this 3.5 doll that they needed to get rid of since they didn't sell well (which probably explains why they sent something worth twice the amount of the toy that I wanted).

I'm now contemplating emailing Hasbro again since I really did want my Shine Bright (I haven't seen one in stores in ages), and I really have no interest in poor little Cheerilee. Has anyone had problems with Hasbro in this manner? Or should I just try to sell Cheerilee here on the boards?

Update on Feb 9

I had a chance to speak with the Hasbro reps today. Very predictably, they were not altogether too pleased to hear my complaints. They tried to explain that they warned me that I might get a different product as a replacement (unfortunately for them I used chat and have a recording on the session on their website that says differently. I was only told that I may get a different Shine Bright toy). I explained to the rep that I appreciated them sending me something, but that I had no interest in the old generation merchandise and that it was unfair to replace a current toy with something discontinued a few years back. Then they told me to take the original toy back to the store (almost two months later and with no packaging...). Eventually, they promised to send a small complementary item "hopefully" from the new line. So... we shall see what appears at my door in 4 weeks.

I am grateful that they were willing to replace a broken object with something that was a higher retail price, and that they eventually promised to send something else, but how can they have no FiM merchandise around? That just seems... off.

Update March 31

I forgot to update this thread when I got my new replacement from Hasbro, but they were nice enough to send along a brushable Mythbusters (Wave 1) in a huge box visitors can't see pics , please register or login
I am slowly building a unintentional army of her!

And baby Cheerilee is still sitting in her box looking sad..

Pony Corral / Pony Restoration Questions
« on: February 06, 2012, 06:58:41 PM »
Hello all!

I am tackling a rather large batch of ponies that need some tender, loving care, but I am afraid I lack the knowledge to give them what they need! So I turn to the most knowledgeable pony people that I know! (Also, I really miss the official restoration thread on the old Arena. It was so useful! I can't wait until it gets moved over)

1. How do you get the tail out of G2 ponies? I have a Hip Holly with a rusty back-end and I can't get a hold of her tail! I've tried tweezers, but they are too big for the tiny space. Any suggestions?

2. Rust - I have several ponies full of it and in-ground dirt. I've been soaking them in water and soap for a while, but there is still some stubborn junk in their hard to reach spots (hair is fine). I've heard of collectors boiling in Oxy-Clean. What exactly does this do other than disinfect? And do I need to pop their heads off for that?

3. Colour-Fading - I have a Raspberry Jam whose body has faded severely in colour while her head remains pristine. Is there anything I can do to fix this? Or at least make it look a little less bad?

4. Cancer/Mold - I was lucky enough to snag a pretty minty Nightglider for about $1 the other day (excite!), but her beauty is marred by two spots! They are brown spots (lighter on the edge with a dark center) that I think are probably pony cancer. How do I most effectively treat them? I know that you can't "cure" pony cancer, but I want to limit its ability to spread. Fortunately, the spots don't show much while on display, but I want to take care of her as best as possible!

Thanks for all your help!

Despite my best intentions to pull out my good camera and take good brag shots and a full collection set, I keep getting busy. However, these beauties were too wonderful not to share so back to my cellphone camera it is!

I adopted a Sky Skimmer and Ivy into my herd not too long ago and fell in love with the G2s and have been since looking to build my collection. I bought these cuties from two wonderful members here at the Arena and they cleaned up beautifully. Puff is so minty and Prince Firefly was one of my grails of G2dom (did not expect to find him so quickly!)! So excite!

Wanted! / Catlein's Wants - All Gens!
« on: January 15, 2012, 01:05:09 PM »
So, ponies from all generations are tempting me too much and I've decided that I want a few from each! Bolded ponies are the ones that I want the most (ignore that since my HTML is botched, and I can't seem to fix it), and subject header list is what I am generally actively looking for. No MIB preferred (shipping prices hurt!).
