So, the time has come finally for us to get a dog. We live in a big-ish house with a nice yard and we have 3 cats.
Our cats are not used to dogs apart from my in-laws' chihuahua, that is smaller than them so I don't really count that.

We are considering adopting a 5 month old female Lab-mix and we are going to bring her over one of these days to see the reaction of all animals. If that doesn't work, we'll probably have to adopt a puppy and raise it with cats.

I am interested in any experiences and tips. My cats range from 1,5-6 yrs old and are generally very good natured. A week ago we found a new home for a male cat that has been stressing our other cats out and peace has returned to the household, but I'm worried a dog might bring the stress back.

I'm only considering having a dog if I can trust it 100% with my cats (I used to have such a dog, and I miss her so much every second of my life). are there any signs I should watch out for in a dog's reaction to my cats. Will there be territory disputes between my cats and a dog or do cats only care about other cats in that way. Is there a best way to introduce a dog to our household.

Also, we're definitely interested in something along the lines of Labs or Golden Retrievers, and their mixes, because of their good nature, but are there any other breeds that are good companions for a multi-species household? Are there any that we should absolutely not consider?

Any tips and info would be greatly appreciated! I will have a lot of time in the next few months to facilitate all this and I think this is the right time if there ever will be one.

UPDATE: Hey everyone! I just wanted to share with you that this weekend I made the team and played my first game! I was so amazed when they asked me to come with them to play an away game against the team from the north. At first I didn't believe that I would get to go on ice, I thought I would stay on the bench (which would have still been amazing), but I did play! and it went fairly well We did lose but I feel that I didn't mess up, and the girls from my team were really supportive

I'm so happy with how things are going, I'm progressing at a pretty fast rate, and the team is just amazing! Everyone is so nice and helpful and they have really accepted me. not to mention that hockey is the most fun game to play, ever! I'm enjoying every bit of it

Today is a very important day for me because one of my life-long dreams just came true quite suddenly! Mostly thanks to my most wonderful husband

I have always wanted to play Ice Hockey however, in Serbia, where I'm from, girls couldn't play hockey ( :S ) so I had to do with figure skating and speed skating. However, here in Iceland they have female ice hockey teams but I thought I was too old and out of shape to even think about it. Well yesterday I wrote to the coach of one of the teams, and today I had my very first hockey practice!!!

apparently, female hockey is quite new in Iceland and they need anyone they can get, and with my skating background, the coach thinks I might eventually become the part of the actual team and compete!!! NOT IN MY WILDEST DREAMS did I ever think this would happen to me EVER. I am just so excited and thankful that I can't even express it! This country is amazing! It has enabled me to do anything I ever wanted even if I could never have dreamed about it elsewhere.

So, now I've been given a chance and it's all up to me, so I have to try my best. I just can't believe it, I love Iceland, I love my husband (who got me the information and got me inspired to contact that coach) and I love that coach for giving me this chance).

Has anyone here had their dream come true recently? Please share sometimes I feel guilty that my life has been going so well when my friends back home are struggling with everything so I feel bad gloating and sharing all these things with them, but I hope there are people here with great experiences as well that they can share ^^

I'm mainly looking for some input here or advice, if possible.

I have 4 cats right now and we're doing pretty well - they are clean, healthy, well behaved and get along well for the most part. But one of them as a really stinky behind

The reason I'm asking here is that I've had cats all my life and I don't ever remember a cat whose behind was so stinky, constantly, that it was very noticeable. It's really annoying me because I love my kitty and she rarely comes to cuddle, but when she does, she always has her tail up and gives me the backside, which is obviously really hard to put up with.

She is 2 years old and she has had diarrheas before. At one point she had blood in her poop so the vet gave us some paste to inject in her mouth, and that paste had a very distinct smell and I think I can kind of smell it still, though this was a year ago at least. In the end it turned out that that blood and diarrhea came from her nibbling on one of our house plants and that that paste didn't help much (till we got rid of the plant).

I don't know if this is related, but she also LOVES hanging around our toilets. She is a house cat (3 out of 4 of our cats are) and we have 3 toilets around the house for them, and she basically loves going around, from one to the other, scratching around it and just hanging out there. She especially loves it when we change the sand, then she makes a round and has to check each toilet out, often peeing in them even if she did her business recently. I guess she is marking her territory because she is the queen of our little community, but I wonder if that could have anything to do with her smell.

I also want to make it clear that it is only her behind that smells, and not the cat herself - she is clean and healthy, no bad breath or anything. And her behind looks fine as well.

Oh, and we only give them dry food - Royal Canine Indoors (which is made to minimize the odour, and it really does help). We give them canned food sometimes as a special treat.

Anyone had a similar issue? Anything that can be done?

Hi guys, I need your help

I'm thinking of giving up one of my Posies as they are not different enough for me to keep both. I'm interested mainly in how much a Euro Posey with magenta tulips goes for (faded hair, otherwise great).

I'm also wondering if there are people that would be interested in my normal Posey (hair still pink) that has a gauge in her left eye? I'm wondering because I don't want her to be baited and I know we have some people here who like flawed ponies. She would go for very cheap

so, I just came back from the thrift store where my loot of the day was a G1 Carry case. It is my first one and I´ve never seen any in person before so I pretty much don't know anything about them (except that they are cool ), but when I went online to find a bit more I noticed that mine was different from most cases pictured.
On My Little Wiki I find a picture of the one that looks the same as mine, and it's Greek. However mine is, hmm, made in Italy but for a Belgian company and for a Dutch company (says so on the bottom), it has both Dutch and French on it. I'm basically a bit confused as to the rarity of this case? Is this look a general European release then? Because it's quite different from the one MLW says is UK but identical to the Greek one (just with different languages):

Namely, I have chosen to focus my conservation research on the Katipo Spider (Latrodectus katipo) that is endemic to New Zealand and I would love to hear your opinions on this species.
One of the main reasons I decided to focus on Katipo is that I want to examine the conservation status of an invertebrate as they are usually overlooked due to them not exactly being loveable. However, I did read in research papers that Katipo is considered to be somewhat of a symbol of invertebrate conservation in New Zealand and I am mainly interested to know to what degree this is correct. So some things I´d like to know ^^

How do you feel about the species?
Do you think it's worth saving?
Do you feel that the state is committed to the cause of preserving this species?
