MLP Nirvana / What's Up with the Venny Ponies?

I'm just starting to really get into collecting Nirvana ponies and I'm wondering about the Venezuelan ponies.  I would like to add some to my collection eventually.  I'm especially interested in the Lickety-Split variants.

They seem to have popped up out of nowhere. Where did they come from all of a sudden?

Also, how common are they? Are some of them OOAK?
What can I expect to pay? Their prices seem to be all over the place sometimes.

What or which (if more than one) was the first pony you bought when you started collecting?
For those who are lucky enough to have their childhood ponies, which pony was the first new addition?

I got into collecting somewhat by accident. I was on eBay just browsing and I remembered that I loved the My Little Ponies with the wings.  I didn't remember their names but when I was little I had a My Little Pony theme birthday cake that my mom decorated with Summer Wing Ponies.  I did a quick eBay search for My Little Ponies with wings and found a lovely Little Flitter.  I had to have her.

She's still in my collection over 5 years later and will always be mine. Even if I sell all my other ponies I will always keep her.

Pony Corral / Need advice about displaying my collection. Any suggestions?

Right now I have my ponies and my vintage LPS in my home office/guest room on Ikea Billy Shelves.  They take up quite a bit of space and they are pretty much the focal point of the room.  I love to look at my collection and admire my ponies but sometimes they're a little distracting. When I'm trying to work sometimes I end up staring at my collection.  I primarily work from home so this isn't good.

A pony room would be great is not an option. I really would rather display them more discreetly in my office.  I would like a solution where I could have them visible when I want to look at them and hide them while I am working or when I have a guest (My parents don't approve of collecting anything ever so they don't know about my ponies).  I would also like to have the option using the room as a guest room where people don't have to sleep with 300 ponies staring at them.  I like it but some people may not feel the same way.

I'm thinking maybe some cabinets.  I have a fairly large collection that takes up almost 2 large Billy shelves so I'm not sure.  I don't want to put them in storage.

Does anyone else have this issue?  Any suggestions?

I've been working on this site on and off over the last couple of years and I've posted about it several times here and always gotten positive feedback.  Also, thank you to everyone who contributed photos to the site :)

This website was intended to be a comprehensive collector resource to provide information, track collections, and create wish lists.

I wanted to add information about all generations of My Little Pony.  I'm pretty much through G1 but I just haven't had time to add more info about the other generations.  I don't think I'll ever get through adding all of the info for the other generations.

So I am planning on making some updates to the site I wanted to ask for some opinions about the future of the site and your feelings about the site.  I want to make it more user friendly.  Right now adding ponies to collections is fairly tedious.  I also want to make it more usable on mobile and tablets.

There is so much information that needs to be added.  Would some people in the collector community be interested in helping to contribute information about specific ponies? i.e. photos, hair color, eye color, etc.?

I am planning on building this functionality into the website so you would be able to upload photos and add information directly on the site.

Your feedback is greatly appreciated :)

So I am seriously getting back into collecting after a couple years of only buying ponies occasionally for my birthday and christmas.  I've taken some time off because of lack of funding and lack of free time.

Now my financial situation is improving and I plan on having more free time to browse ebay and the arena.  For the first time in a couple of years I'm really excited about collecting.

When I first started collecting my goal was to own all of the G1 United States and European/UK ponies.  I still have a long way to go.  I know some arena members have completed these sets and I need some advice.

Before my collecting hiatus I was pretty much just buying whatever ponies I could get my hands on.  I kept a want list but didn't really follow it. 

This time I really want to stay on a budget of $150 or so a month.  I feel like I should have some kind of plan. Should I go for rarer ponies first or get the easy to find ones and then go for the rarer ones later.  Or maybe focus on completing 'sets'?

Pony Corral / My little pony website - I need your opinions

I've been working on mylittleponycollection.info off and on for a couple of years. I haven't posted about it in awhile and I need some feedback from other collectors. This project is a total labor of love for me. It grew out of my desire for a fun way to track my collection and wishlist. I am not going to monetize it in any way.

I'm not sure how many of you have visited in the past but I haven't posted about it since I moved the site off of Wordpress. The blog format wasn't really working.

I've added a lot more info about the ponies and I'm working on adding more soon.

What I want to know is if anyone has ideas for features they would like in a collector site. Right now in addition to identification info.  I have features where you can create an account, maintain a wishlist, collection, and favorites. Of course I haven't allowed any accounts so no has used this yet.

I also thought it might be useful to track average prices of ponies. If collectors add the purchase price I can display an average sale price. I will not display individual prices though. Only averages.

I just want to know what everyone thinks of the site. Is it useful? If you want to register you need to type in MLPARENA14 for the code.

Its so sad when children are bullied.  I'm happy there is an outpouring of support for Michael Morones but this shouldn't happen in the first place.  No one should have to  be bullied or teased for liking something.  Or for anything at all ever

This week has been rough for me. :( I'm pretty much being bullied by my neighbor and his college aged kids.  I can't believe this is something we have to deal with as adults

Anyway looking at my ponies always puts me in a better mood. When i see their little faces i always feel a little happier.

Off Topic / Need to Get Rid of Old Textbooks Help!

My boyfriend and I have a ton of old textbooks from our's and his parents' college days.  They range in age from the 80s maybe 70s? through the early 2000s. Mostly business.  Right now they are taking up space on a bookshelf we would really like to use for books we actually plan on reading. 

I need these books out of my life but i have no idea how to get rid of them. 

I've done some research online and it seems that no one is interested in old text books.  I don't feel right about just throwing them away and i don't have time to sell them on ebay or anything like that.  I'm pretty sure they wouldn't sell anyway.  Most of them are pretty dated.

Does anyone have any idea or suggestions about what I can do with them?
