Arts & Crafts Corral / MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT: Gallery to be culled!
« on: February 09, 2012, 09:50:16 AM »
Hello, my fellow MLP Arena members! In one month (March 9), we are going to start culling our gallery. Part of the reason our old site went under was all the bandwidth being used by all those images. As such, we are having to prioritize how many images we will have in the gallery and what their purpose will be.

Fear not, not all of the albums will be culled. The Nirvana gallery, the coloring books, the custom tutorials, and the G2 Encyclopedia will stay. We'll also use the the gallery to host Arena specific events, like contests - photos, coloring, and the like.

We are making announcements nearly everywhere so everyone will know ahead of time. (I may also attempt to send out emails if I can get my computer and the Arena to cooperate.) If you have images in your album(s) that you need saved back to your hard drive, this is your first warning to get to it. This involves the art, adoptables, customs, collections, sales and doll albums.

The link to the gallery is in the navigation bar. :) But here you go in here, too.

Pony Brag Arena / I haven't posted a brag since June 2011!
« on: January 18, 2012, 02:40:49 PM »
All of these ponies I have gotten locally. Yard sales, kijiji, and Value Village - over the past 6 months. I figured now is as good a time to gather them all together and take pictures. Sadly, many of them would qualify as custom bait, but they are for my collection. I will do my best to pretty them up, maybe over the next few months. :) Only a few are duplicates, ponies I already had in my collection.

Also, some of them (not pictured) were given to my children, including G1s.  ^.^

Moondancer is a duplicate. Galaxy is filthy, but I think I can clean her up. Party Time (did I get her name right?) has regrind. Sweet Stuff is in good shape. Locket has uber-frizzy hair and her twinkle eyes are pushed in. :( I wonder if that's easy to fix? Parasol and Dancing Butterflies are duplicates.

These are pretty standard ponies to find in an average collection, but in my case, only Cotton Candy is a duplicate. The rest are new to me. :cheer: I forgot to make sure the birthflowers' symbols were showing, but it's Water Lilly and Cosmos. Cosmos was horribly filthy but I was able to scrub her up some months ago.

Primrose likes to lean, Nightglider is a duplicate with a bit of wear on her ear, Shorelines is sunny! :sunny: Woot! Lemon Treats is a pony I wanted for a long time, Wig Wam too. BOTH have uber frizzy hair and hopefully I can get that fixed up one of these days. Bunny Hop is in pretty good shape, actually, except a little forelock trim. Her hair, despite the pic, is pretty smooth and nice.

These would be my first beddy bye eye ponies!  They actually aren't as scary in person as they always seem to be in pictures. Sadly two of them have eye rust. My non BBE Tiddly Winks is missing a tail, but I think she's still cute. :) Pinwheel is also in fairly decent shape. The SHS was also very filthy and I scrubbed her brains out. The rainbow baby's head doesn't match the body. I love pearly Glory though. Ack! I just realized I didn't get a picture of Sparkler! She's going to be pearly Glory's mom, since they almost seem a perfect match color wise. Sparkler has a bit of marker on her side though. She's probably feeling all neglected that I forgot a pic of her.

Here are some G3s. I never had breezies before. Kimono is new (and has ratty hair XD ).  I used to have Wish-a-Whirl but I traded her to Annie Msson for a lovely commission drawing. But I kind of missed her. So it's nice to have a new one. Peach is new. Daisy Jo, duplicate. Heather Winds, duplicate. That flower one on the left, new. Baby Flower Flash, duplicate.

These are the only new ponies I bought from the store, my only two G4s at this point. Honeybuzz and Lily. :D Lily I bought just so I could say "I have one G4 pony". Honey I bought because her colors are awesome. Remind me a little of Brights Brightly.

And now for some non-pony brags, from the Value Village.

I flipped when I saw that Nala and grabbed her right then and there. I was out on one of my walks, too. It takes me an hour to walk to VV, and so I was also hauling her home for an hour. XD Gabumon is cute and I couldn't pass up a toy Scrooge McDuck.

By the way, my ol' Simba - bought new as a graduation gift back in 1995 - approves highly of Nala. See for yourself!

You can almost see him raising and lowering his eyebrows in pleased mischief. visitors can't see pics , please register or login

So, these are my new acquisitions and I am pleased by them all. Maybe in the future, as I'm doing some major salon work on these ponies, I'll do some before/after pics, hm?

Off Topic / Yesterday was my first anniversary!
« on: January 17, 2012, 10:28:40 AM »
Of being a member of SparkPeople, that is! I would have posted this yesterday, but I was fighting a fever. (BTW, today I think I won!)

It's a free site that can help you meet your goals of being healthier, more physically fit and losing weight. I think it also helps with budgeting but I haven't touched that area. Or just any lifestyle goals you can think of, I suppose. :) My reason for going there was to lose weight. And I did!

Here are my before and now pictures. They are deliberately small because I'm shy.  :lookround:  Please forgive me and break out your magnifying glass. I hope the difference is still noticeable.

This is almost "before." I didn't take a photo until I was about two weeks into it, but it's close enough. I was 203 lbs on January 16, 2011.

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

This is almost "after." I have two pounds to go yet, to reach my goal, so it's not quite "after." But it's close enough. I weighed 143 lbs as of January 15, 2012.

That's not all! I can tie my shoes. My knees stopped hurting. I could dash UP a snowy hill and get to the top before my little boys did when we were sledding. (Well, at least once or twice, anyway.) I can take an 8 mile walk with no problems. Maybe this year I'll challenge myself to go on my own half-marathon. I can go up and down stairs for 20 minutes straight. Probably longer if I didn't get bored of going from the basement to the living room for 20 minutes, anyway. :P My clothes got too big and I can wear smaller things now.

Also, I haven't gotten as sick as frequently as I used to, like with colds and such, and for the most part they are short affairs when I do. So I guess my immunity has gotten a bit of a boost.

I still eat my usual things too, for the most part. I try to fit in a cookie or two a day at least, 'cause I love cookies!

I think one of the fun things I like to show off is my "virtual" walk. I bought a pedometer last year and walk all the time. Even in the house. The pedometer calculates the distance I go and so I used that to calculate how far along I would have been along on a route to my home.

visitors can't see pics , please register or login

It took me 10 months to cover the distance of 1,583 miles, or the distance between Lethbridge and Yuma, AZ. Plotting a virtual route is a very good motivator to keep walking.

Anyway, that's my off-topic "brag," but some of the credit goes to SparkPeople, their tools and community. :) Thanks for taking the time to read.

Adoptables / Adoptable Rules and Privileges - a must read
« on: January 09, 2012, 05:55:33 AM »
Adoptable Rules.

1. Newbies. This forum is open membership and you may start requesting at any time. A minimum of posts and membership is no longer required.

2. Adoptable requesters. Read the title of the thread. If it says OPEN - then it's open for requests. If it says CLOSED or ON HOLD (or suchlike) - then please wait. Don't get in line, don't ask. Just wait. General comments and compliments are, however, fine. Thank you!

3. Adoptable requesters. Read the requirements. For example: If it says "Choose a Hasbro pony" - then do not ask for your persona (unless your persona is a Hasbro pony). Another example: if the maker has his or her own rules, and it says "type 'all hail queen of the goof balls' if you read the rules" - then do so. Thank you!

4. Adoptable requesters. Please do not hoard adoptables. Adoptables are not like Pokemon in that you need to "catch them all." Three (3) requests per week is the limit. Chronic adoptable hogs are often banned from the Arena.

5. Adoptable makers. Please state clearly in your thread title whether you are OPEN or CLOSED. You may ask the thread be locked and unlocked if you really need it, but please try to keep it at a minimum. Thank you!

6. Adoptable makers. If you are offering to make adoptables for others using someone else's template or lineart, you must have their permission* and you must credit them in your original post. Stolen lineart will result in the thread being locked. Thank you!

*(Which is automatic if the lineart is in the Arena Artists Coloring Book.)

7. Everyone. Keep in mind the signature rules when you put the adoptables in your signature. All signatures must fit within an area 500 pixels long and 200 pixels high. Total signature "weight" (or file size) must be less than 60k. Sigs without graphics may have up to five lines of text. Sigs with graphics can have up to two lines of text. Tickers count as two lines of text. Thank you!

8. Everyone. Adoptables made at the Arena are for Arena members. Banned members may NOT get around the rules by sending others over here to ask on their behalf. On the other side of the coin, please do not request for adoptables on the behalf of banned members. Doing so would be at the risk of your own adoptable forum privileges.  (rule added on Oct 28, 2010)

Adoptable Privileges.

1. Everyone. We now have an adoptable gallery. A place to store the ones you've collected and/or to store the ones you are making. Go ahead and request one if you'd like, PM SourdoughStomper or Kiwi. Do keep in mind, though, that you have a certain quota of cumulative kilobytes you can use in all galleries. For example: the more adoptables you upload, the less room you have for your collection album. :) Thank you!
Not offered anymore, sorry!
