I would love the white FS Celestia Taobao pony, or any of those clear glittery G4s that also were on Taobao for a spell...

Would love to buy or trade- and I do have some good stuff to trade- but it is probably best to let me know what you want for your trade...

Pony Corral / 2012 SDCC Pony - another wave passed through Taobao? Or more first runs?

So last week I noticed at least two separate sellers on Taobao selling the 2012 SDCC pony for a price of ¥ 258.00. I think someone else on the board noticed the same thing a week or two earlier...

The price while high- is less than the current price for her (about $43-45). I was particularly interested because the ponies APPEAR to be the engineering pilots/samples that were turning up on Taobao before the pony was confirmed as the SDCC pony... with the bigger eyes? Of course no way to know if they are re-using photos (which is common on Taobao) or what- but I got one just in case she is an EP- because I like those sorts of things. I also figured it might be neat to have a loose one if she turns out to be identical.

So just thought I'd give a heads up to anyone still looking for her- there seems to be a few of them passing through Taobao right now- and even one on regular ebay from a China seller - but listed for $99 (probably they are all same person). The seller I bought from seems to have run out for now- but it might be worth keeping an eye on this seller in case he or she gets more.

On a related note- has anyone actually confirmed that the pony found on Taobao (long before SDCC release) - actually has bigger eyes than the official release?

Pony Corral / MLP Fair attendance- over the years?

So- from any of you who have attended over the years- has the MLP Fair become more popular or less ?

I am really just curious because some of the other 80s-based-but evolving doll/toy collecting communities (ie Strawberry Shortcake/Jem/Moondreamers/Rainbow Brite) all used to have quite large communities (particularly in 2000-2003 thereabouts) that have dwindled every year since, with a very steep decline over the last few years that have snuffed out some communities entirely (Moondreamers/Rainbow Brite).

This doesn't seem to have happened to the MLP community- does it?

I am thinking that this must have to do with the popularity of the G3s and now G4s- and the FiM cartoon- but I don't really know since I wasn't around here a few years ago.

Thoughts? Observations?

The Dollhouse / GAA! Delay in the new Jem dolls..

Did anyone else preorder any of the new Jem dolls by Integrity? They were SUPPOSED to ship in November- first I heard Nov. 17th then "the end of Nov" - now, early December! There had better not be any more delays!!!!

I... cannot..... wait !!!

I am also tormented by the possibility that they will announce presales for the next set, and I might be spacing out or too busy at work to check- and I will miss out !!!

Customs / delete

Any ideas where I can get it? I know that Dollyhair had some- but they have been out of stock for quite a while... I bought some from Retrodoll- but it is not nylon so I don't think it can be dyed..

Anyone have any ideas where to buy glow in the dark, nylon doll (pony) hair? Alternatively I would be happy with blue, pink, purple, and yellow glow in the dark hair...

Pony Corral / 3d Printed Ponies by Hashbro (& others, and you?)

So I know that 3d printing has been around for a few years now- but I only recently discovered it. It is seriously like Star Trek technology to me- you create a 3D image on your computer- and then hit print and you can have your 3d colored image come to life??? Seriously awesome.

There is this artist that has created an Octavia and a Vinyl approximately the same size as the brushables-

I have to say his work is amazing (even better in person) and makes me want a 3D printer SO BAD (despite my lack of 3D rendering skills) The price of a 3D printer was not at all what I expected! $500 for a basic one- and around $2000 for the very top of the line! Not cheap- but not what I was expecting considering what you can do with it-

On the other hand- this particular artist appears to have taken a very very very long time to get his pony from concept to image to print- suggesting that the process might be more challenging than one might think.

Have any of you tried it? What do you think of the 3D prints made by Hashbro? Seems like a fun (if extremely labor intensive) way of making custom ponies-

After the longest wait ever I finally got this cutie! (She arrived at my office so I had to stealthily get her out of her box and photograph her- hehe)

I think she is awesome!

I don't love the black marks-

I finally removed them from my colorable RB Dash- I found that the black comes off VERY easy from the plastic- less easily from the white parts (wings/mane/tail) - it DOES come off- but you really have to scrub at it. (I used nail polish remover- maybe something else would be more effective but that is what I had on hand)

Thank you to everyone who participated in the naming contest! We had so MANY fabulous names- and thank you for everyone who voted!

The voting closed yesterday- with a tie between Starly's "Solar Mint" and Marigold's "Stella Bella"

As Starly will not be attending the Pony Party- the pony prize automatically goes to Marigold (who I believe is attending).

As for the name itself- we will have a quick tiebreaker vote for only 24 hours to determine the name-

So who does she look like to you? A Stella Bella? Or a Solar Mint?
