Off Topic / What other languages do you speak?
« on: March 30, 2013, 03:53:40 PM »
I'm always impressed by people who can speak more than one language :good: And my quest to learn Japanese has got me curious now, what languages do you speak? :awake:

I'm ok at Japanese (getting better! I still can't read much kanji) but I'm getting tutorial audiobooks and such from my local library and it's helping out quite a bit. I can understand more than I can speak, if that makes sense ;) I found that I really like the 'Pimsleur method' when it comes to audiobooks, since it quizzes forces you to use the language you're learning to answer questions, instead of just memorizing and repeating words.

I also know a tiny bit of Spanish, but it's rather shaky since it's been a few years since I've studied it, and I only remember a couple German words from the half semester of German I took in Middle School :silly:

So how about you? :) If you don't speak any other languages, are there any you'd like to learn one day?

I bought 2 books on ebay from a seller last night (28th), and immediately requested a total because the description stated that they do have a combined shipping policy. I still have not gotten an invoice, though I did send a second request around 6 hours ago (still no invoice), but how long should I wait before sending them a message? I want to pay them, but they're not really helping me do that :drunk: Thanks in advance!

Off Topic / Free online file sharing stuff?
« on: March 26, 2013, 07:07:26 PM »
So I have some files that I want to send a friend of mine in another state, and they're waaaay too big for email, so I'm wondering if anyone knows of any free file sharing things that we could use as an alternative? :awake: Even just free online mass storage that we could both access would be fine :good: Thanks in advance! :lovey:

Pony Corral / Wisconsin Pony Meet Thread! June 1st!!
« on: March 17, 2013, 09:53:37 PM »
I figured this should get its own thread :silly:

I'd like to host a pony meet while I have the chance (this might be my last year to do so) :) I was thinking sometime in May, but early-mid June would be ok too. I know this may be a bit of short notice, so I definitely wouldn't be offended if someone else hosted another WI meet later this year ;)

I'm located in Oregon, WI (15-20 minutes south of Madison, http://www.bestplaces.net/images/city/oregon_wi.gif ) and I wouldn't have a problem picking people up if they're relatively nearby.

I would be hosting this at my grandma's house, and there should be plenty of space/chairs. There are no animals there, but there had been a dog staying there for quite some time (just a head's up in case you're super sensitive allergy-wise like me).

ETA: Aaand the date of the meet will be June 1st! :awake:

Where?:
*County Road B, Oregon, WI (PM me for the exact address and what to look for)

When?:
*Saturday June 1st!
*The start time is 10am, roughly ;) It's perfectly fine to get there a little bit later if you need to.
*If you have a long drive back, you are welcome to stay the night if you need to :)

What to bring?:
*Ponies! There should be plenty of space for you to bring ponies to sell or trade :)
*Something to eat! (optional) Lunch/dinner will be pot luck style.
*A WRAPPED gift (optional)- for the gift exchange. You only need to bring one if you want to participate, but it must be wrapped ;) More detailed rules further down (reply #12). As for what it can be, anything ~$10 or less in value should be fine. It can be pony or non-pony.

Trader & Shipping Support / US to UK, signature confirmation?
« on: March 11, 2013, 09:51:48 PM »
I have a very expensive package that I'm going to be mailing to the UK pretty soon, both me and the recipient have decided on International Priority as the shipping method, but we were wondering if this comes with Signature Confirmation of any kind or just tracking. :awake: If it's just tracking, is there an International Signature Confirmation available? SC isn't a service I use really, so I'm pretty clueless when it comes to sending something with it :yikes: Thanks in advance!

MLP Nirvana / Easter came early! (x-posted~)
« on: March 08, 2013, 05:26:18 PM »
I've been eagerly awaiting a certain box to come in the mail for a couple weeks now, and today my wait was over! :cheer: Inside that box was......

.

A pair of el Greco eggs!

The ones I got weren't packaged with the ponies, rather a different brand of toys made by el Greco, but they are pretty much identical, the only differences are these are a tiny bit more glossy and have slightly different hinges  :good: So my Greek girls have eggs now :lovey:

:lovey: I made a stand from scratch for Lambaditsa, so she sits a bit lower in her egg than Ladybird, but I'm still just ecstatic to have eggs for them :accomplished: Better yet that they arrived in time for Easter

A pair of el Greco eggs!

To those not familiar, these eggs were made by a toy company in Greece and were used to package some of their toys, including the Greek sitting ponies :lovey: The ones I got weren't packaged with the ponies, rather a different brand of toys made by el Greco, but they are pretty much identical  :good: So my Greek girls have eggs now :lovey:

Off Topic / Alternatives to Photobucket?

Ok, so the new Photobucket is driving me up a wall and I can't stand it :throw: So does anyone know any other free image hosting sites that might be worth using? :awake:

Pony Corral / Ponies displayed at my library!
« on: February 24, 2013, 01:35:54 PM »
:accomplished: I work at a library, there's a fairly tall display case near the entrance. This time, there's a 'collecting' theme, and my coworkers gave me the opportunity to put some of my ponies in the display case :accomplished: I haven't had a whole lot of time to enjoy the reactions (since I'm shelving most of the time), but the kids love them :lovey: Every day I hear 'look mom/dad, ponies!', and sometimes the kids will even ask their parents if they can have one or exclaim 'look, there's a pegasus!!' :silly:

Oh and of course I took some pictures ;)

MLP Nirvana / PC (Curiosity, not selling) Greek Ladybird/Lambaditsa egg
« on: February 21, 2013, 04:10:52 PM »
I don't recall seeing one of these for sale on its own, so I'm really curious to know what they're actually worth. Does anyone know? :awake:

I own half of Ladybird's, and would love to get the other half some day (as unlikely as that is :silly: ) so does anyone know what just half of the egg would be worth?

MLP Nirvana / PC- Brazil sitting Bowtie (On Hold)
« on: February 07, 2013, 12:54:20 PM »
I need a price for this poor girl :awake: She's got some pretty significant paint loss, and very dry/frizzy hair. She has no hair cuts or missing plugs though and still displays fairly nicely considering her paint issues. She is currently on hold, I just need to figure out a price for her. :awake:

Trader & Shipping Support / Odd 'wrong item' situation...
« on: January 31, 2013, 08:39:34 PM »
So about a month ago I bid on a Greek pony (Minty) and didn't win. I was the runner-up. Very shortly after the auction ended, I noticed I had a second chance offer on it. I thought it was odd, because the person who won the auction initially had a solid amount of feedback and it had only been maybe 15-20 minutes since the auction ended. I took the second chance offer anyway, since I did really want Greek Minty. The seller took a while to ship, roughly 10 days, but I figured I'd be fine if I watched my paypal window.

Fast forward to today... I received a Greek Minty in the mail, however it's not the same one that was pictured in the auction  The one in the auction was missing ~6ish hair plugs, and had some marks that the one I had in my hands didn't have. The one I received was only missing 2 hair plugs. All in all, the one I received was slightly nicer than the one in the auction... but... it still wasn't the one that was pictured. I'm happy with the one I got, and have no intention of returning it or anything... but should I say anything to the seller about this? I've never had this happen to me before. :drunk:

I bought this lot of 8 figures on December 24th, and they arrived fairly quickly from overseas on the 7th. Problem is, there were only 7 of the 8 figures in my package. The missing one was clearly shown in the auction pictures too. I messaged the seller immediately letting them know that one of the figures was not included in my package, but got no reply. On the 9th, I sent them a similar message, reiterating that one of the figures was missing and asking for that figure. Still no response. On the 11th, I sent a third message, again saying that one of the figures was missing, asking for that figure, and mentioning that I would rather not have to resort to ebay to get this resolved. They have yet to send a response.

My question is, where should I go from here? What are my options? I do plan to give them another couple days before I do anything, but I am getting a little frustrated. I don't really want to return the 7 figures I did receive for a refund (not to mention I don't know how/if tracking is possible from the US to Hong Kong and I believe ebay would ask for tracking), I just want that last figure -_-
